Have just looked through the Minecraft 1.9.5 update and can't see anything new (no new gui's, mobs, items, terrain blocks)...perhaps just bugfixes then, but still no sound for the chests?
Anyone know if I've missed anything obvious...I usually do? Please post and let me know then I can up the prefix on my forum thread title to 1.9.5. Thanks folks.
[edit] Seems to work fine with the latest MC Patcher too.
I read they frezed any new content development and will fix bugs and make gear tweaks untill game will be released
will we be able to load it with gunpowder and a random block or item for example: bones for blinding shot, gravel for weak ammo with more bulletspread and more pellets per shot, iron pellets for shold be basic ammo, stone for one pig bullet, netherrack for flame shots and obsidian for sharp pellets.
i can try to make a blnderbuss for you,bt i have much schoolwork right now..
I never really thought about that, but I suppose I could try to program that in. Good idea, for sure. As of yet, however, I only have the flintlock and the musket code done, with a modified Ghast fireball entity as the bullet.

ok this is probably just because this is my only HD texture pack but when i chose this as my texture pack my game starts to lag(a lot more than without it with all my mods). i love this texture pack but if with my game lagging i cant really use it. any ideas on how to fix this?

Glad you like the pack, Mr 4th Reich. Thanks for taking the time to post. It's always encouraging to know someone is finding my work useful.
As regards the strangeness of the cake, let me dredge up an old essay I compiled for situations such as this. Lol.
Why Such Strange Textures Mr Glimmar?
For any newcomers or generally puzzled passers-by, here are my reasons for certain unusual decisions I made about the textures in Glimmar's Steampunk. The following is very wordy and takes up a lot of space, so I put it in a spoiler:
Spoiler
Lol! I'm beginning to think this is 'adventure season'. You're the third person on this page currently working on an adventure. Best wishes for it's success.
Thanks for the wishes for my map and also those interesting ideas. Never did I ever think about using the bed as a torpedo launcher :blink.gif:
Do you have one for 1.8 because I'm not going to upgrade to 1.9 untill my fav. Mods are compatible so if you could inclood a download for 1.8 that would make me very happy :smile.gif: thank!
Glimmar, I got to thinking abou the enderdragon, what I thought was instead of the usual gears and spinning pieces what if there were pistons in some places, I don't mean completely instead of gears, that would go too far :laugh.gif: but on places like the connector between the wings, they would enhance the movement and highlight it's regimented feel. The other thing I was thinking of was because of the new glowing eye texture we could have lots if large deep red sensors over it making it seem like a surveillance piece, roaming the ender keeping track of things. My final thought came after seeing the villager texture, maybe we could have the body rusted through to create large empty patches showing circuitry, making the ender seem like a wasteland of these forgotten ancient machines. :smile.gif: Anyway that's enough out of me, I'm not even sure if all that makes sense, oh well. Cheers mate.

All texture packs are backwards-compatible, unless you want a really old version like 1.5 or something.

The chances of another pre-release happening are slim but just incase, here's some resources you can use for present and future questions:Solaria's useful thread!Minecraft Wiki's Version development page!and Reddit!Answer to your question above though; no, there's nothing new to be textured, except possibly if you've not textured the Mycelium block or endstone yet, as they've now been added to the creative gui. Also, I read your explanation of your creations multi-use textures in the Medic's voice.. it was quite hilarious, I'd suggest you try it. :tongue.gif:
Thanks for those sources, Santairo. I'll keep those on the desktop for future ref.
I tend to just quickly dip into the wiki or the news links, but if the trail gets a little too cold and time consuming, that's when I make my cry for help, just so's I can concentrate a little more limited time on the graphics.

Lots of good ideas there and the sorts of suggestions I was already thinking along the lines of. Except the glowing eyes idea is something I didn't think of. I'm not sure how much of the body that glowing eye's layer covers though.
One thing for sure...it's gonna be a lot of work to do such a fine specimen justice...in the mechanical sense that is.
Umm... guys, I think I kinda missed something... Since when it is possible to make animated textures? I noticed them today in Misa's Realistic Pack. I downloaded it to test Randomobs and i noticed some nice blinking thing on pistons. And I was wondering if Glimmar knows about this feature.
Since MC Patcher 2.2.0. I always try to check any new patcher to see if kahr has added anything new. So yep, I'm aware and if you install my latest Glimmar's Steampunk v3.1 along with the aformentioned patcher version 2.2.0 you'll see lots of nice new animated blocks. :smile.gif:
I'm trying to resist the urge to animate everything or you end up with something that's just not comfortable to build with, but things like pistons (yet to do), craftbench, furnace, enchantment table, potions stand, repeater, etc (all the things you'd expect to see some movement from) are now animated...some by my fair hand and some by PATR101.

Are you using my latest version 3.1? Earlier versions might have been laggy because of the very HD water and lava animations. These have been reduced to 32x animations.
You could further speed up the game by deleting all the custom animations in the root of the texture pack. All these animations begin with the word 'custom' and have a file extension of .png
By deleting those files you'll end up with unanimated versions of my water and lava and the portal will default to Notch's, and of course none of the newly animated blocks will move, but it might make it a little less laggy.
Thanks for the wishes for my map and also those interesting ideas. Never did I ever think about using the bed as a torpedo launcher :blink.gif:
Haha, wait until I animate the 'time machine' bed. Then it will truly come into it's own. Yes you could animate a typical Minecraft bed, but after a while it would begin to look a little strange and annoying, especially if you had a lot of beds arranged in a dormitary, etc.
My animated steampunk bed, designed as yet another component building block rather than just a bed, will have even more uses. Imagine a long line of them on the side of an epic steampunk battleship, or as the basis of a vast cryogenic sleep chamber with redstone pipe 'feeding tubes'. Just a couple more uses you could put them too
I should run a competition for other uses the 'time machine' bed could be put to ('for scrap' is not one of the uses I'm looking for!! Lol). Remember other beds can only be used for sleeping. My bed fits the theme of Industrial Victorian Science Fiction and has to be seen as another useful building block and not just a bed. :smile.gif:
Do you have one for 1.8 because I'm not going to upgrade to 1.9 untill my fav. Mods are compatible so if you could inclood a download for 1.8 that would make me very happy :smile.gif: thank!
As has already been said, texture packs are usually backwards compatible, this being no exception. Occasionally Notch will change the position of a texture, but as far as I'm aware nothing game-breaking has changed between 1.8+ and 1.9+
Any new animated blocks won't show up though unless you upgrade to MC Patcher 2.2.0 and that probably won't be compatible with your 1.8 version of Minecraft.
You should be safe to drop my latest texture pack into your texture pack folder and try switching to it. Any new stuff that is compatible with 1.8 will be seen, anything that can only be seen by installing Minecraft 1.9+ and the latest patcher will be invisible.
Or you could do what many have done and that's keep a copy of your 1.8 Minecraft bin folder, install 1.9+ and switch back to 1.8 if you're not sold on 1.9 yet. Just remember to save a copy of your world saves first. :smile.gif:
The new animated blocks are so cool! It really helps to sell the steampunk theme even more. Great work! :biggrin.gif:
Thanks, Wayuki. :smile.gif:
Well with all the cogs and gizmos associated with steampunk it would be sad not to use this latest facility from kahr's MC Patcher. As you'll well know with that beautiful texture pack of yours, animating stuff is just so time consuming. :blink.gif:

As mentioned above, I'm really busy in real life at the mo' so don't expect any giant leaps forward for a little while. Anything at all new I do, I will of course share here in another update.
I completely agree, I want to make my own enderdragon which will be the flesh equivalent to my suggestion more or less but I honestly think that do do either of these will take an awful lot of time.
The wolf mob was enormeously popular by way of skin support, but I think it'll be dwarfed by the range of dragon skins folk will share. The dragon is just such a charismatic creature in gaming and Notch/Jeb animated it's movements perfectly, considering Minecraft's blocky limitations.
To be honest, knowing how much work was involved realising a steamwolf, I'm a bit nervous of the dragon skinning task ahead.
Did I just imagine the news that Notch was working on a mob editor? Anything that would allow us to rotate the mobs in 3-dimensions would make the skinning task so much easier, even though his editor would only be low res. I'm reckon the best bit about 'spore' was the creature editor and although Notch's editor won't be as ambitious as that, the task of being able to visualise where bits and bobs fit, would make the creative process more enjoyable and help an already epic game to even more astronomical heights of fun. I live in hope I didn't just imagine the news.
I'm surprised an easy to use mob editor hasn't already been made...probably has and I just don't know about it! :biggrin.gif:
Best of luck with your dragon, I look forward to seeing it, mate. :smile.gif:
Notch did throw something together for himself, but I don't think he released it (at least, not in any usable way).
However, if you look on the home page of the forums today, you will see this link. Unfortunately, it only does player skins at the moment, but the creator said that having a mob editor was on their "to-do" list.

Wait you can animate mobs as well?
You no longer need randomobs for multiple types of mobs. MCPATCHER covers it!

I'd say that's more of dieselpunk than steampunk. Also, Happy Birthday!
In other news, I just stumbled upon this little gem, if you're looking for more inspiration.
