i like collectors edition things.i want minecraft with a cool "minecrafty" cover.heres a example of a minecraft collectors edition deal:buy your own minecraft collectors edition today and receve a special golden pickaxe! dont use the pickaxe in real mines! it's like mining with a plank...
Lol! I'm just a hoarder, but yes, there's nothing quite like a collectors items...and don't the publishers know it! :biggrin.gif:
My main concern would be your distributing my pack with your map from your thread...I'm no longer giving permission for the pack to be redistributed from anywhere other than this thread. Too many times I've had to warn people for redistributing my pack or my artwork on these forums by third party members who've filched it off someone else who'd asked permission and then abandoned their threads.
This is certainly not questioning your honesty, The Crazy1, you've had the decency to ask properly, but down the line I haven't the time to check if you've abandoned your map thread, and your download (including my pack) is sitting there for others to pick apart with less scruples than yourself.
The same applies unfortunately to remix packs...I'm no longer giving permission for individual textures to be used in those kind of packs.
I've loaned textures for use in many remix packs and a number of them have gone on to be very popular and then they've been abandoned, others have taken up those remixes and assumed all the textures were free to use simply because the author of that remix pack has given permission for others to take up the reigns.
Very quickly my textures have been subsumed into offshoot packs and I haven't the time to keep reminding folk about proper credit, etc. but it's one of the most discouraging things for any original artist to see their work lost in this way. And before anyone says folk using my artwork for their own packs without my permission is a kind of flattery, let me tell you straight...it's absolutely not, especially when you've put hours upon hours of work into just one small texture.
...sorry for the rant! :smile.gif:
If you can redirect folk to download the pack from this thread, as per my licence, with instructions for installing any alterations you make for the purposes of your map, then I would not in principle object, but with the usual clear credit and link back to this thread.
Oh god, your potion stands are gorgeous. I might as well not even bother making mine now-- they'll never compare to yours. :\
Thanks, mate. :smile.gif:
I'm sure you'll come up with something equally gorgeous. Don't forget, my work is the product of an obsessive gadgety brain, so I spent an inordinate amount of time on that little brass potion stand...to the detriment of other stuff! :biggrin.gif:
I'm sure you'll understand though, Notch is just about wearing me out with all the new stuff. At the rate I work I'm most definately falling behind. :sad.gif:
Thanks again, feathers, I very much appreciate your comment.
I used to use this texture pack in 1.6(at least i think so) I really need to re-download this texture pack and use it, its a fantastic, very artistic texture pack. its also pretty unique compared to other texture packs.
Thanks, jackc45. :smile.gif:
Don't forget I've added a lot of hi-res textures and animations since then, so if my latest pack update turns out to be laggy, see a few posts above for advice, or pop back in a few days when I release my 1.9 v4 update, which will be accompanied by a version of my pack with lower res custom animations.
Kahr's MC Patcher now makes it possible to animate the surface of any block in Minecraft.
This opens up many possibilities, but does mean a lot of extra work on top of everything Mojang are throwing out. I imagine it will also need to be used sparingly to avoid too much lag for those who need to use up to 32x texture packs, due to machine limitations.
This requires further research and experimentation, so don't expect anything soon, but if you have any suggestions, feel free to give me a work attack! :biggrin.gif:
when I saw the new patcher update I immediately thought of two packs... yours and mythos. I can't wait to see where you go with it man. If you need help figuring out how to animate something, holler. I am super excited to learn how to do something other than water/lava/fire.
edit: and Glim...bud... don't burn yourself out trying to keep up with Notch & Jeb... we don't even know what is going to get added as a surprise in the final release next month. I stepped back at the first pre release and said no... it's ridiculous to spend that much effort to keep up with mojangs release schedule pro bono. I'm taking my time, and focusing on being as ready as possible for the official release.

The possibilities are a bit scarey really and it will be necessary to use the facility sparingly to avoid lag and frankly turning it into a carnival show (now there's an idea!). So only rare individual blocks. Moving leaves, etc. might result in some horendous dancing patterns, but as per Misa's excellent example, the enchantment table, etc would be perfect material.
Grugsy, I would indeed be grateful for any examples, or useful tips. I see you as the expert in these matters and a tutorial at some point would be extremely useful and popular. Thanks mate.
I'm liking the new things you did with the Potions and and the new textures for the water, lava and portals, it all looks very fantastic and everything goes so well together in your texture pack! :biggrin.gif:

cold yo try to make a piston with animated gears on the sides or on the other side of the block?
could you make animated redstone rails?(make the gears turn around when its powered.

I agree, the piston and the powered railtrack would be excellent candidates. The way I did them kind of begs for something that rotates or has flickering lights. Just tiny subtle movements I think will be best. Too much animation might become annoying, but rotating wheels on something would work, as it would just appear to be a working machine.
Just some simple twinkles on diamond ore (similar to my avatar...and yes I animated that way back when I first joined the forums!) and a pulsating red glow on the redstone ore would be effective down in the deep.
This is all assuming I can figure it all out! :biggrin.gif:
And again, thank you for the encouragement. When I'm hard pressed for time and there seems lots to do to bring the pack up to scratch, it's a great help to get positive comments like yours.
I realize it's a matter of urgency that I upload a 1.9 v4 update to this pack soon, whether finished or not. Block animations will have to come later I'm afraid. Too much going on in real life as usual.
im going to make some animated minecraft textures(default style)
im going to animate some items, oreblocks, the furnace, the piston and the jack'o lantern
Oooo! Let me see what you do, d95 and drop by and give me some hints.
You know, I'm surprised you haven't made your own texture pack yet (this is when you tell me you've got one already!:biggrin.gif:). You have the skill and the enthusiasm for sure.
I tried it and really liked it, but my computer didn't. But that doesn't mean that I would trash this texture pack, it is VERY well done and I would recommend it. Just make sure you have a lot of Java allocation.
Thanks, diggerjohn99. :smile.gif:
Hopefully my soon to be released alternative pack (that goes alittle easier on your machine) may be more to your taste.
pchan3 is still updating and the link to his thread on these forums is in my OP, but may be hidden in a spoiler. I think the latest version is on his own website (there's a link in his thread) and you can of course apply any of the different skins I provided to pchan3...those are in the same area of my OP along with the link. :smile.gif:
Hi again Glimmar.I just got Industrialcraft², and started messing around with steampunkifying the textures. I'm already using the Ores supplied in the OP, and so far I've managed Rubber trees, industrial tnt, and nuclear bombs(not that happy with the trefoil symbol part). Once I've learnt more about the mod and what each texture's for, i'd be more than happy to supply (eventually) an entirely steampunked sheet here's what I have so far.Edit @ryansparx1 Here's the link. (It's the first result)
Hi, mate. :smile.gif:
I'd love any mod texture work based on this pack...I'm sure others would too. What you have there looks excellent, Korstmahler.
Given the amount of new stuff Notch is pouring out at the moment and kahr's new animated blocks I definately don't have the time to do anything else, but when I do I will gather up all the stuff I've missed in this thread into the 'extras' download and the OP and also look into uploading to the Minecraft Customiser. All with proper credit for any work offered within this thread.
Im downloading the new version when i come home cause i love this pack =D
Thanks, Oys. :smile.gif:
Hope you like the next version. I've just finished a suite of new moon phases that link in with my blood red moon. It's nearly ready...then Notch'll update again. [groan] :biggrin.gif:
my animations is too small.... they are going superfast...
this is going to take some time.
i made a glowing iron sword(with a hot and glowing blade),but the animations where going superfast and the animation didnt look like a glow animation.(looked like a molten sword with flashing neonlights in the middle).
i did also make a glowing jack'o lanter, but the eyes where blinking like the iron sword's glow animations.
i need to make longer animations and that will take a long.......long.......long....time.... :dry.gif: hint:
make LONG animations!(i think you have mastered all this animation stuff.)
i need some info!
im making a animation now,but the image is too small...
how big should it be?
the picture is 16 pixels wide, but i need some numbers for the hight.
how high should the picture be(in pixels!)
im using paint.net
Halloween idea!
maby you should make the jack'o lanterns look like a diving helmet with a green glow instead of the boring yellow.(the lanterns should have some sort of cool glow animation)
I want to see some animated steampunk things. they would be absolutely amazing.
Indeed. Steampunk is all about mechanical machines moving (hah! great alliteration there!)
Haha! I'm still work avoiding here. The more excited I get about something (like a new game) the more I have to walk around it to savor it's splendour. It's like that with all the new stuff going on. What's that expression, "Like a kid in a candy shop". I don't know what to choose to work on next and can't decide if it's all too much and my head's going to go bang. :blink.gif:

What! My yellow is boring? Lol! Actually I like that idea for the Diving Helm, d95. :smile.gif:
Yes, the animation side of things will be a pain to get right. The twinkling on the gems in my avatar, as simple as it looks, took ages with Gimp to get the timing right. The more frames and smaller increments of movement/change, the slower the final animation. I break out into a cold sweat when I think about the work I put into my custom lava and water, etc. :ohmy.gif:
If you're working on 16x I think your animation can be any number of frames long but obviously made up of 16x16 frames (your block side), but the more you have, the more chance of lag if you have a lot of animated blocks. At 16x I doubt it would effect things much. Just start off animating a couple of pixels, even just animating a single pixel on a block...making it steadily brighter and then darker to get a pulsing effect. Try the same for an entire 16x block to make the block pulse, etc., it'll give you a better feel for the timing involved for more complicated effects. The last frame would have to seemlessly blend with the first frame in your strip so that the whole animation would cycle smoothly.
Have you or anyone got a complete list of all the block numbers and which block they relate to? That would be most helpful and would save me some time.
Indeed. Steampunk is all about mechanical machines moving (hah! great alliteration there!)

I know exactly what you mean. My brain is feeling fried with all the new content. One thing though, I have always felt that your diamond "pick" felt...false. Mainly because it didn't spin. That should be fairly easy to animate and it would provide more practice.

We need a rest home for fried texture packers! Lol.
I agree about the diamond pick and the diamond axe. I have been meaning to re-edit all the tools for some time, to be more traditional, but particularly those that appear powered. There's no getting away from that swinging action. It just doesn't feel right to swing with something that works by holding it still, while it's machine parts spin, but is it possible to animate the tools?
Whenever I play with this pack this song comes to my mindhttp://Also, will you be putting this on Minecraft customizer?
I've always intended to put it up on the Customizer. It will just have to wait for a quiet time though. I've had some very generous offers of help, but it's something I've got to do myself to make sure the wealth of textures I have get put in the right places and so that I have the facility and practice to add more alternates myself.
The most obvious would be moving gears and pistons on many of your mechanical blocks, like the bed, tracks and new enchanting table. If this could be applied to paintings as well your functional paintings could actually move, just an idea.
Our minds think as one! :biggrin.gif:
A bigger painting palette as standard, and kahr to animate the paintings would be wonderful, but again I'm going weak at the knees (someone pass me a cup of tea!) thinking about the work involved. Has there ever been a sandbox game like this in computer entertainment history? I certainly can't think of one. It is pretty mindblowing in what modders and packers are coming up with. :blink.gif:
I've just been fixing the horrid flickering opening edge to my chests (no I'm not a terminator with a double chest! :biggrin.gif:), but it required quite a bit of re-editing to make them work. I think I've got something quite pleasing.
I believe Notch has finally decided to add some sounds to the minecart...at last! I'm very much looking forward to that. :smile.gif:

Hey Glimmar, would you mind if i made a 16x16 version of your texture pack, at the very least for my personal use and if you dub it good enough upload it to your current page as an alternative to your wonderful 32x32 version for us with lacking computers?
