So many things could go wrong with that...I'd get lynched for one.

I am building something HUGE and got your latest update to take screens. It's a hybrid CthulhuPunk of the most insane kind. Only thing is, I cannot ever find the right sandstone of yours to fit. Might have to try out another alt.
Would be a shame if something were to happen to it?
Either way, I'm looking forward to what Glimmar has in store for the v4 pre-release. This talk of "enchanting" tables leaves me wanting some screen grabs to drool over in the mean time.
Also, I haven't checked anywhere else for the answer but has anyone tried making a nether portal in the ender realm?

Hey! I don't want my perfect record tarnished by a rogue moderator. Lol! (Hah! I just insulted a moderator! How many of you could say...... [deleted by Gestankfaust] oh flip!)
Now I've just gone off topic, double posted, insulted and impersonated an admin in less than 24 hours and mostly in one post...
...I'm definately on a role. :ohmy.gif:
If you're still talking to me, Faust, I hope you'll post some pics of this CthulhuPunk project. We all need the inspiration from a master builder! :smile.gif:
There, now you can add 'ingratiation' to my growing list of misdemeanors. :cool.gif:

Thanks, torturran. :smile.gif:
Well, if Faust doesn't slap a ban on me, I'll try and get some pics up.
However, Don't expect too much. I've spent a lot of time on the enchanting table and similarly the 'potions'(?) stand with a nice steampunk bottle, and I'm quite pleased with the work. I just want to finish the cauldron off too though before I upload an update.
I haven't done all the new items, and haven't had time to work on the new gui's though. I've been gathering a lot of new and old textures together and sorting out my art chaos to make it easier to assemble new things in the future. I still want to revise all the gui's to hang together better, yet remain unique to their intended purpose.
Hopefully, if circumstances allow (and Faust. :biggrin.gif:), I should upload something for the version 4 update before the weekend is out.
hey! i noticed that a steampunk outfi add appeared on the forum in this thread.
google is A SPY!
on topic:
i can post some pictures of my creations when this texturepack gets updated with new textures and stuff.[warning,my images contains a high level of powered minecarts]
Thank you, Krillich. If you have problems with lag...as some do, just take the Hi-res animations out of the zip pack and the game will default to my unanimated textures and Notch's fire, etc.
When I can, I intend to make a 32x pack with lower res components. Unfortunately I do tend to like 32x for terrain and high res for animations, mobs and gui's and that can cause problems for many. Sorry. :sad.gif:

Haha! I noticed the same. Obviously Google is picking up on key words, but I quite liked the link it threw up there. :biggrin.gif:
After torturran requested some taster pics of my new enchantment table and potions stand, I got a little side tracked making a short vid. It's currently uploading to Youtube and taking an age, but as soon as that's up I'll get back to working on my little update.
I look forward to seeing your creations, mate. :smile.gif:
google and facebook are spies its very odd, i think they look for our soals and eat them because they are jelous of us and our game :Phay glimmer is it ok if i make a mod suport for this?? im not too sureif you will allow it tho.....
DeadBeyond, I've no objections to you using my textures to make mods that support this texture pack, obviously if you can make it clear where the original textures came from and upload here. A few others have worked on mod support for this pack, but I've not had time recently to update the 'Extras' download which contains lots of, yes...extra stuff.
Well, that was good timing. Youtube finished just as I completed my post above.
Sorry to double post again, but hopefully the vid below justifies it's own post.
So herewith presented below (in suitable Boris Karloff horror movie style...don't worry it's not all in sepia!), work so far on my new potion stand and enchantment table...hope you like.
It's in 1080p so watch it in as high a resolution as you can manage to catch the detail on the spellbook:
Glimmar's Alchemical
A Short Film Showcasing My Steampunk Enchantment Table and Potions Stand
Will upload an update as soon as I can, then you can play with the new stuff. It's not much, but I do like to walk around trying these things out in my own builds, and real life never seems to get any less busy at the mo'. :smile.gif:
the book and the stand are looking incredibly snazzy, I'll await the upload very , very eagerly >.>PS: mellohi is a great track XD
Thanks, mate. :smile.gif:
Yes! Mellohi just seemed perfect when I finally had a look at all C418's new tracks.
What I, or some other kind person, needs to do is make some alternative atmospheric sound tracks for this theme pack for different settings like: factory/industrial, laboratory, underwaterbase, dockland, railway station, etc. and then with appropriately placed music player blocks you could load in whichever disc/roll was the most appropriate background sound for that area. I was thinking specifically of C418's '11' track (the broken disc)...creeps me out when I play that one, but it's a little short and too generalised.
too late glimmar,i think you are mad!!!(hehe)WOW,cool textures!i love the new stuff!i played that song when i showed my potion shop to my litte brother.oh i forgot to tell that i double post sometimes too,but i dont know how i get 2 posts...EDIT: WOW that book is AWESOME! i used the lowest quality, but i changed it to 1080 when i played the movie the second time.you can spot all the small details when you use 1080what recording program did you use?i wish this was a source game because source games has a video recorder.
Me? Mad? ....that's ok then! :biggrin.gif:
As regards the recording program? I splashed out on the full version of 'Fraps' a couple of months ago and it was well worth it. So easy and smooth to use, and then I just edit stuff in Windows Moviemaker which is free. It would be nice to be able to add special effects, etc., but as I only really make little vids to show folk new work, use of trickery might fool people into thinking it was something more than it was. I'm new to all this flickery magic viddy stuff, as you can tell, but when my world gets a bit more developed I look forward to giving some boring guided tours. :biggrin.gif:
fraps.... :dry.gif: i used all my cash on steam games...(i used a spendon card)
Well I tried a couple of freebies and couldn't get them to work well at all. Fraps just does it's thing simply and without dropping any frames and so far Movie Maker is sufficient for my level of production.
Haha! Steam...my sons use it all the time, but I bought my first ever game through Steam this year. I'm still of that generation that likes to own a physical disc and read a cool manual. Even my wife laughs at me because I usually spend a few days reading a manual before I venture to install a game. Minecraft has rather dominated my freetime over the past 18 months, so I've a lot of catching up to do. :biggrin.gif:
Yesterday i had 1.6 of the texturepack, then i updated it to 1.9, and now i can't play with Steampunk. Everything is SO slow! even in the menu, everything is slow.
And i've used the MCpatcher :unsure.gif:
Is there anything i can do?
As mentioned above, but not in the OP, the inclusion of HD animated water, fire, lava and portal seems to have greatly effected things for those with less powerful machines.
In time I will fix this by making lower res animations, in the meantime, you can greatly improve the speed of things by simply deleting the above HD custom animations as follows:
Open up the Glimmar's Steampunk zip file (using 7zip or other archive program) and delete the following:
You should see a marked increase in framerate, though you'll be back to the same still water and slow-moving lava as you had with 1.6, but with all the other 1.9 benefits.
Get back to me if there isn't an improvement and I'll suggest some other things you can do (sensible, polite things of course). :smile.gif:
[edit]
With the next update of the pack I will release a version with low resolution custom animations (32x rather than 64x). I have just tinkered with them now and they are quite acceptable...not quite as nice as the HD animations, but as having a laggy game is even worse, well worth trying.
My apologies to everyone who has been experiencing lag since I introduced the new custom animations. I'm fortunate enough to have a fairly high end PC and as mentioned before, apart from the terrain textures, I tend to make all my gui's and mobs, etc, HD so's I have the option to scale down. It's much more difficult to scale up.
Having said that, scaling down to as low a res as 16x comes with different problems...nearly everything requires a lot of attention to make it work well. I take my hat off to those who work at that level, especially to those who have produced some exceedingly clever and beautiful 16x packs.
Circumstances (and making that little demo vid yesterday)
HD vid...watch in as high a resolution as you can manage
prevented me from releasing a 1.9 pre-release v4 compatible pack this weekend...sorry. I will update ASAP and include the promised lower res custom animation version too. :smile.gif:

Hi. I am thinking about making a custom map and i am gonna use this texture pack for it, except for changing a single picture and wool block for aesthetic purposes. I didnt see anything about custom maps in the legal license so i thought i should ask. I will link to your page and will not try to make money off of it. please reply as soon as possible.
edit: changed a couple more pics. might do small changes but not any big ones. mainly just make the stuff on the pics fit into some special situations.
