i like this txtr pack..but all the armors iron to diamond make you look like a robot..in my opinion (its just my opinion) gold and diamond should look like something else i donno what.....i just found this http://1800recycling.com/2011/09/incredible-suits-steampunk-recycle-armor/..some are good and some are a lil odd..
I'm not sure whether I've deleted my explanation in the OP, but when the armours were released some time ago the diamond and gold armors were just primarily copies of the iron armour...so just temporary HD standins with a different powered backback as the only thing to distinguish them.
So you are absolutely right, all three suits...iron to diamond...do look robotic, but the long term intention was that only the iron armour would be chunky and robotic. One day I'll get the time to finish the armours each with their own distinctive style. You'll just have to chain Notch up and stop him releasing new stuff all the time, because some of us with real life to contend with are finding it difficult to keep up! :biggrin.gif:
That link of yours was very good. I shall keep that for future reference and add it to the hundreds of steampunk pictures of armour I have on the harddrive. lol
Cool, thanks for the suggestions (if i knew how i would add a diamond)ohhhhhh my gawd thansk for your suggestions so much its actually playable :smile.gif: :smile.gif: :smile.gif: :smile.gif:
Haha! Glad my suggestions worked for you. :smile.gif:
You did a really great job once again Glim, really enjoying using this pack in my 1.9 adventures! :DGotta say I love how the enchanting table looks. Even though it's going to be difficult to 'steampunkify' it, it's just so damn awesome!
Thanks so much, Sheep. :smile.gif:
Yeh! There's a lot of good stuff in the 1.9 update, but being so good it needs a lot of play time to see the potential, including those new guis. I haven't even had chance to look at 1.9 v3 ingame yet! So I hope my update is ok. lol! :blink.gif:
You know, I have to admit that I'm very flummoxed by the fact that your ivy looks better than my ivy. :\But anyway, great job! (And I'm very happy about the new brick, in case I haven't mentioned it. :biggrin.gif:)Can't wait to see this beastly pack on the customizer. I'll probably download it six times a day just to have fun mixing and matching, haha.
You are very kind, feathers. :smile.gif:
Haha yes, you are the one responsible for my many hours of brick texturing. :smile.gif: It needed changing anyways for it's use as a half brick block, and then the netherbrick came along and I got to have my sooty black mortar and darker style of brick back! lol. :biggrin.gif:
I don't know if you're like me, but sometimes you can spend days on a single block texture going round in circles, steadily getting more frustrated!
Glimmar, the amount of time you've put into this pack is amazing, I'm not 100% sure, but you've probably got the most alternates out of anyone on these forums.
I have no excuses now not to try this pack, so DL'ing... now!
Also, the amount of time you must have spent working on this pack, reading your thread, posting your updates, it amazes me you still have a life. :tongue.gif:
Haha thanks, Santairo. :smile.gif: Lol...I'm not sure I do have a real life anymore.
The amount of time I spend tinkering with textures and working on my little world build is making the distinction between reality and Minecraft slightly blurred. I better watch what I say, but I feel very 'at home' wandering around my dockland and steadily growing city...changing things here, adding stuff there. None of this survival/village/multiplayer stuff for me! I like my world deserted...all mine...'I Am Legend' mode (the movie, not me!).
In case anyone is worried, my wife, kids and various animals soon bring me back to reality...I'm not sure about work though :blink.gif: :smile.gif:
Hey, been a while since I posted. Haven't kept up to date on the 1.9 pre-releases, due to downgrading to 1.7.3 to use a set of mods (Industrialcraft, Buildcraft, Mo' Creatures, etc.). Thinking of using some of your alt textures for these in my spare time.
I may end up trying 1.9_pre3 at some point, if I find the time, just to see what it'll be like.

Cant wait to see what you do with this.EDIT: WOO! First post on new page!
Hiya, mate! :smile.gif:
I was beginning to worry.
I have to stay clear of mods at the moment if I'm to stand a chance of keeping up with Notch. :blink.gif: I'm enjoying all the changes 1.9 up to version 3 has brought. Wandered round my first fortress tonight and it looked awesome and was releaved to see my stonebrick textures looked ok. Also saw my first silverfish...absolutely fantastic...made me shiver, but still admired it's very cool movement. Also messed about with the cauldron, potions and enchantment thingies. Lots of potential there for steampunkifying and trying to keep clear of the obvious fantasy bias Minecraft is taking.
Not sure about the dragon though, but the endermen realm looks intriguing. This game swamps me very easily with too much stuff to take in. :sad.gif:
Well, that is the typical algorithm for very nerdy fun isn't it? He just has to incorporate 42 into the code of absolutely everything and make something special happen when you gain 42 levels and I will be happy :tongue.gif: Not to mention he has to include this pack as a featured pack in a release of minecraft before I am happy with minecrafts content :DOn another note, any idea on what can be done visually with the new block? Kind of looks like you are looking through the floor into space? Quite hard to miss as it confuses the [Insert appropriate word here] out of me...
Haha, well I managed to squeeze 42 into the pack so I hope I'm a nerd! :biggrin.gif:
I've checked and double checked the new pre-release 1.9 version 3 terrain.png and I can't see which block I'm missing. I might be asking the obvious here, but did you try out my latest update yesterday? If you did and I've made an obvious mistake, I'd be very grateful if you could point out what I've missed. In my blurry eyed state last night, anything is possible.

If you look on the forum main page, and scroll down a bit, there is a new portal animation for the Ender portals (for lack of a better term.)
These portals seem to spawn within strongholds and lead to the Endermen home. I'm assuming the texture will be found with the nether portal one.

Ah! So there is a new block, but at least I didn't fail on missing something on the v3 terrain.png. I'll try and get something official up today.

Still can't find it...any chance of a link, torturran. I'm probably looking in entirely the wrong place, but my detective skills are zero even when I've had enough sleep. :biggrin.gif:
Here's my newly started save, I use TMI for ease of access to things like this (creative mode is terrible for creating in my opinion) so I placed some of the new fancy block in my fortress, make sure to use 1.9pre3 or it will crash/corrupt the save etc. I made sure to stand right next to it before the last save so trust me, you wont miss it :wink.gif:World Save Download
I know what you mean about creative, neronix17. I like it, but it's a bit lacking in convenience in some areas. eg. the only way I can access the normal inventory to experiment with accumulated potion bottles and ingredients I've mixed, is to nip into a chest, etc. Though for me creative is handy when it comes to update time, because I'm not having to rely on a mod that might not have been updated, when I need to quickly slap some new blocks down.
Thanks for the world save, mate, I'll have a look at it, but what I meant when I said I couldn't find it was the location of the texture in Notch's minecraft.jar and the location of the article torturran referred to so I know what to edit and where to put my version. Sorry I'm being a muddle head here...definately lack of sleep! :smile.gif:
Haha! You have become a great source of ideas and inspiration, mate. Thanks for that, I'll add it to my other pics, but I'm not sure what I'll be doing yet. One thing's for sure, don't expect anything quick over the next few weeks if Notch springs it on us like he's been doing a lot recently. I'm notoriously slow with these 'ere mobby creatures, due to my overcomplicating things in trying to make them seem like they hinge and swivel in all the right places. I also find skins incredibly difficult to work with...just call me old! :biggrin.gif:

Haha! You've kind of created and solved the mystery for me. :smile.gif:
You're original post made me think I'd missed a new block or something that needed texturing and when you said it's like looking through into the void I kindof jumped to the wrong conclusion.
Yes, sorry, I was aware of this new void texture...I saw it in Notch's pre-2 download, but it only became active in pre-3 I think. Your map has given me the first look at it ingame though and it does look awesome. I'm not sure what I might eventually do with it. Like your average workman, I have to walk around these things for a while, umming and aahing and stroking my chin (with the odd sharp intake of breath :biggrin.gif:) before ideas start flowing. :smile.gif:
It's certainly got a lot of potential.
Well at least that mystery's solved...you can put the straightjacket away now dear. :biggrin.gif:
Haha, I wonder if people outside of the UK will get that. :tongue.gif:
Lol! Yeh. No disrespect to any workman/builder of any nationality. It's how I personally approach any problem, so I point the spotlight of humour on myself too. I can see you're from the UK Santairo, so I know you'll understand the largely steriotypical image that's grown up around getting a quote or asking a workman about a job.
Digressing, but I'd just had a conversation with the boss of the company installing our new central heating system and I'd asked him what will his men be doing first thing on Monday when they start. "Well I imagine they'll walk around for the first hour umming and aaghing and rubbing their chins. Then they'll give me a ring and get started!" His words, not mine! :biggrin.gif:
Ah of course lol, sorry, it is likely coded into the game, if you stand and watch it for a bit you see all the little dots (probably stars) moving in random directions. No idea what could be done with it, would be cool to see what can be done with it if it is possible though :tongue.gif: Oh and I had an idea for the Enchantment Table, maybe have a cog on the top to make it look like the book is being rotated by that?
The 'void' texture is located in the 'misc' folder and is called 'particlefield'. It's colourless, but like everything else that Notch is doing at the moment, the colours and movement are hardcoded. Haven't the time at the mo', but I imagine it would be possible to experiment with various open mesh-like graphics to see what effect they have, or at least different types of particles. Probably worth experimenting using different colours, to see if and how they influence the hardcoded colour.
Nice idea for the Enchantment Table. Certainly the book could be some kind of arcane collection of blueprints and I would almost certainly be looking to make the whole thing very brassy and mechanical looking...it's just such a nice little animation in the way it spins around and pageflicks. 's to Jeb and Notch.
[edit] By the way, I didn't say how much I enjoyed walking round your 'Enderville' world. The choice of location was just so appropriate for your 'lab'-like buildings and very atmospheric on the rainswepted moorland. Your world has the distinction, apart from PipeHead's 'PipeWorld' server and my sons occasional lan worlds, and I think ksheep's, of being the only other world outside my own that I've downloaded and visited.
i have faith that you wont disappoint. you havent let us down yet
Hah! Now I'm definately feeling the pressure. It's not usually ideas I lack for, just time and my usual slow pace, but thanks for the vote of confidence, spoonman, much appreciated. :smile.gif:
Looks like Notch is going in a… slightly different direction with the Dragon.
Except not really. That was just a test to make sure everything was lining up properly (or so he says). His progress so far is a bit more subdued. That's the base texture, he'll be adding more "character" in later.
EDIT: Apparently I missed the Rainbow Dragon. Looks like Notch was working on a small program to help with texturizing mobs. Haven't had time to look at it, but it's on his Twitter if you want to take a look.

Glad you like the pack though, Oys. :smile.gif:
Notch is definately getting into Skyrim mode. Lol.
What a great name you've got.
