Have I ever mentioned that I used to think you were Glimmar's sidekick? No, really, I did. I was convinced you were the Robin to his Batman. Like a little Glimmar mini-me :biggrin.gif:
Love all the new textures by the way, Glimmar. Especially the iron bars-- I love how my jail cells look with this pack. THOSE SHEEP WILL NEVER ESCAPE, MUWAHAHAHA!

HI GLIMM!!That's all I can muster right now. Totally want to work on...something:/
I know the feeling, Faust. :sad.gif:
Well I am at least working on some stuff...slowly. I've been out building the summer house and moving my son to uni mostly, that and hospital. I'm guessing the moderating side of things is occupying a lot of your time? I reckon all moderators should get paid for their services, as in my opinion it's mostly a thankless task.
Hope you get your muse/time or whatever back soon.

Haha! I see myself as an English super villain type and Faust more the suave wise cracking James Bond. :biggrin.gif:
My iron bars are decidedly low-key for use in as many situations as possible. Nothing great to look at on their own but very versatile...hopefully. I'm using 'em all over the place at the moment, they're great fun and one of the best new additions.
I've been changing a lot of the textures recently to better balance things and consequently spun off yet more alts...so along with an update I should be uploading another sheet of alternative textures. And if I can keep ahead of Notch, I might even have time to look at the Minecraft Customiser...if the family give me a chance! :smile.gif:
Now what's all this about cruelty to sheep? Speaking of which, does anyone else get the creeps when all the animals start following you around for food? Nope? Probably just me then...where's a sheep prison when you need one? :blink.gif:
Alchemist and purveyor of fine clockwork mechanics reporting in.
I've been spending far too much time in the laboratory lately. I think the vapours have affected my vision, as a glance out of the vault door shewed a world of bright green grass, blue water and, ludicrously, chickens made of meat!
I do believe time spent on the surface will bring remedy to the malady. I shall take photo-spectragraphs of the town and compare them to my visions until the two match.
(Dimensional Translation)
As much as I love potions, I can't see what I'm doing properly, so I have to dismount the texture pack until I get of my **** and copypaste the cauldron and potion vials over as a patch job. So I use the default in my lab, and revert upon returning to the surface. I saw a chicken in default today. It scared the clockwork **** out of me.

Just working on making this pack pre-release 1.9 version 3 compatible. I will release Glimmar's Steampunk version 2.9 with all the little changes I've been working on, but all the new stuff from Minecraft pre-release 1.9 versions 2 and 3 will mostly just be Notch's textures, so that I can properly look at how all the new stuff interacts. I will release my Glimmar's Steampunk 2.9 as quickly as I can, then you can carry on playing and perhaps get your thinking caps on with suggestions, discoveries and reminders as I work on upgrading the new gui's, items and terrain textures.
Updating stuff to the higher res steampunk theme may take a little while, because on top of everything else, I have building work and a new central heating system being installed in the house, so I'm having to shift the house contents around, including my PC system. :sad.gif:

Self-quoting because of page death. But it's worse now, there's even more stuff that self-implodes because I refuse to dismount the texture pack. On the plus side, the new new potion stands look so science-ey I already feel like they fit in fine in my lab.

I agree, things move so very quickly with posts around here. I wasn't ignoring you, Korstmahler. :smile.gif: Infact my post above was partly to reasure you and others that I am moving as quick as I can to make the pack work again for those of you moving with the pre-releases. But I apologise for not acknowledging the post...my bad! :sad.gif:
as usual I'd be very grateful for help with identifying the new 1.9 version 3 items and terrain blocks to save me time searching in game and on the Minecraft news channels. As most of you know, I mostly play in Creative mode now, so I may miss the subtle nature of some things that are very important for those of you who play survival/adventure. Thanks. :smile.gif:
[edit] Being the cautious chap I am, it's probably sensible that I leave the new item icons alone until I've been able to play with the potion bottles, etc. So will update with Notch's textures, as mentioned above.
I like the idea of Bioshock style syringe/ampule bottles (perhaps not quite so frightening, 'cos I hate needles!) but I don't want to mess up something so important as the Brewing stand and Enchantment Table and their ingredients, until I understand what they look like 'in the round'. Don't forget I'm also not as fast as all you toddlers! :tongue.gif:
Noticed so far:
Cauldrons have their own inventory icon, located beneath the empty potion vial, between the ender eye and magma cream.
The Brewing stand's icon is below that.
The Ender eye is to the left of the cauldron, placing it beneath the un-fermented spider eye.
Bookshelves near enchanting tables give off letter particles(very lovecraft, all this about ancient books and holes in the fabric of existence) they are located at the bottom of particles.png
The holes in reality seem to be made of particlefeild.png, in the misc folder.
That's all for me, as It's 6am on my day off and I need sleep.

Sleep well, my friend. Thanks for the above, it's explained some things for me. Pre 3 seems to be a bit buggier than the previous versions, so tread carefully folks!
Use of this pack requires 'MCPATCHER'MC Patcher HD Fix link. All HD texture packs require MC Patcher to fix graphical glitches and to make use of HD animations.
Changelog for Glimmer's Steampunk v2.9 for 1.9 pre-release version 3:
edited dirt and grass edge...again!
changed brightness/relationship of stone, half block, cobble and the stonebricks for better contrast in building.
added more mossy growth to the mossy stonebrick.
new gravel for better tiling. However, I do intend this version to be an alternative and am currently working on something a little less pixelated at a distance.
new log top.
edited the ores to make them more 'punchy' and sparkly.
edited obsidian for better tiling, but may make more variations.
edited mob spawner for 'creative mode' purposes. Cogs on all four sides that mesh with other mob spawner block cogs.
edited brightness of snow dirt side to match edge of snow on top.
Made the cactus a bit more prickly.
Added more shading under reed fronds.
Toned down the brightness of some of the wool blocks.
edited cyan wool block to better resemble the colour of verdigris (or the natural patina formed when copper, brass or bronze is weathered and exposed to air or seawater over a period of time).
edited the border of the lapis lazuli block.
toned down highlights on the vines/creepers
edited the bases of the netherwort mushrooms to merge better with my sparkly slow sand.
edited colour of soulsand to better match the Netherwort. Also improved tiling.
Added Notch's new blocks for 1.9 prerelease 3... not edited them yet apart from the 'bright cobblestone'.
edited inventory gui, resizing and adding in the new 1.9 prerelease graphics.
edited 'drips' textures on particles.png
resized and added enchantment text to particles.png
new HD snow.png texture.
numerous little edits on the items.png sheet:
mostly added Notch's pre-release version 2 and 3 items as cut'n'paste, but had time to make a suite of brass music box rolls in place of Notch's discs.
I make no apologies that the new alchemy and enchant gui's, etc. haven't been edited at all yet. I need time to play with these things myself before I formulate any ideas on how to steampunk them for this pack.
As and when I convert the cut and paste Notch textures, I'll upload new versions of the pack to download.
In case you didn't check the changelog above, I've made a new HD 'snow.png' graphic. As I haven't yet seen a single snowflake since I included this, I'd be grateful for feedback. Those with lower-end comps may wish to delete my snow if you find things laggy...that and my HD custom animations. Find the' snow.png' file in the 'environment' folder and the custom animations in the root of the pack (when you first open the zip file you'll see them listed)
Have fun!
Oh... and here are my completed 'alternates sheet 3' and a half filled 'alternates sheet 4'. Nothing extravagant...just subtle variations of stuff and replaced textures. Don't forget these are for personal use only:
since i am not alone in that i have a computer that lacks graphically and once again i am not alone in saying that i love this texture pack so i am asking (attempting to be nice) if you could make a 16x16 version or a less hd version or if you are it would be nice to know :smile.gif: love this pack

Haha. I don't mind you asking, mate. :smile.gif:
Did you see my solutions to Spoonman/28's HD problems on page 341. Temporarily, if you can do without the custom animations in the pack, you could speed things up a bit. Try also removing the HD mobs and snow and rain .png files.
However, I do agree I really need to make an alt version with toned down HD stuff. If ever the time presents itself I will see what I can do. I can't make any promises, but I'm certainly not against the idea.
Glad you still like the pack despite my HD experiments. :smile.gif:
i like this txtr pack..but all the armors iron to diamond make you look like a robot..in my opinion (its just my opinion) gold and diamond should look like something else i donno what.....i just found this http://1800recycling.com/2011/09/incredible-suits-steampunk-recycle-armor/
..some are good and some are a lil odd..

ynow with some minor coaching with getting the textures right and using the correct program i would be willing to attempt a 16x16 glimmar's steampunk (dont mean to be obnoxious if i am)
