Sort of like ken Ken did, I just kept an eye on your channel for it to pop up. He's always faster than me a bit (or a lot). Very awesome work my friend! I agree completely with your take on the water. Doesn't take away from the murkiness of it. The portal and fire are great too...but the lava is my favorite of all.
For some odd reason i though the fire would be green to match the sparks that come off
p.s if i have my lava as the green will it still have the animation ?
thanks if you answer
There's two types of particles. One is for the lava, the other for the torches/furnace. I dunno about the lava one (if Glimm plans to do one that matches the lava or not) but the flame for the furnaces/torches are because the torch is created to appear greenish-blue, so the flame particle is set to small and matches the torch light color.
The new version of the pack will have custom animated lava (as shown in the video), so it won't be green and will override anything from the terrain.png.
When I saw the lava, my eyes about popped out of my head. The water looks fantastic as well. Great work as always :smile.gif:. I can't wait to see it in game.
By the way, I absolutely loved the music you had playing.
glimmar those animations look amazing! well done sir. this makes me want to do a lot of work on mine. We must sit down and have a tea and talk animations :smile.gif: looking forward to the update sir.
Looks like Notch and Co. are currently previewing 1.8 in PAX. Looks like there will be a number of new things to add, including:
Enderman (mobs)
Silverfish (mobs)
Stone Brick (block)
Mossy Stone Brick (block)
Cracked Stone Brick (block)
Iron Bars (block)
Giant mushroom (two types, basically trees, so trunk and cap blocks for both)
Cobweb (block)
Melon (block)
Cooked Chicken (item)
Raw Chicken (item)
Raw Beef (item)
Steak (item)
Three stages of bow (loose, slightly pulled back, fully pulled back)
Wouldn't be surprised if there is other stuff as well. Looks like you'll have your work cut out for yourself. Luckily it isn't coming out yet, Notch and co. want to fix it up a bit after getting feedback.
So sorry about the delay folks, had a lot to do today and could only get to the computer late in the evening.
Thanks for all the encouraging comments with regard to the 'animation tour' vid above. and hope the following update to Glimmar's Steampunk doesn't disappoint too much. I probably should have waited for the 1.8 update now, but I might not be able to do that very quickly, especially as it looks like there's going to be a lot of new stuff (thanks for the heads up, ksheep. :smile.gif: ) So in the meantime here's the promised animations to breath a little more life into the old pack:
Glimmar's Steampunk Texture Pack version 2.7 for Minecraft 1.7+
For those who didn't get a chance to use my new redstone pipes you'll find those in this update and a few other little tweaks too.
Here's the link to the alternate custom Green Lava animation strips that some of you may prefer for the lava. Green Lava strips
What I thought would have been an easy job took all afternoon, because changing the red colours to luminous green had drastic unforeseen consequences on a great number of sneaky pixels, so 64 individual frames of animation needed careful editing again.
Just drag the two .png files to your desktop, rename to 'custom_lava_still' and 'custom_lava_flowing' if MediaFire has changed them in any way and drop them into the root of 'Glimmar's Steampunk 2.7' zip file replacing the standard custom lava files (you may want to save copies of the standard .png files incase you don't like the green ones).
I'm considering changing the lighter wool textures on the terrain.png sheet to more useful textures (the right hand column of wool squares). I'll try and keep them subtley like cloth material, but also try to cover things like mesh, 50's sprayed metal panels, and retain the same overall colour. The darker wool textures will stay the same (those in the left hand column) black and white wools will stay the same too.
I've not had time to properly look back through the thread to check for contributions to add to the 'extras' download, though I am aware that you've been busy with some alts and aether stuff. As soon as I can I will and probably update the download for the 1.8 update. Thanks guys.
If my free time improves (as I hope it will) I still want to look at the Texture Mixer site to make all my alts useable. Any alts you folk may have contributed could be used along with my stuff, as I'm re-assured that it's possible to properly identify each individual texture so that everyone is properly credited. If and when I get to that stage I will let you know, then you can let me know if you'd rather I didn't include anything you've contributed. :smile.gif:
Now I'm off to watch 'Doctor Who'. :biggrin.gif:
By the way, I'd appreciate any suggestions/ideas for the new 1.8 mobs. I won't be doing anything before the update, but I do like to mull the possibilities over.
I may not be on for the next few days to catch up on real life matters, though I'll look in quickly tomorrow to see if I've made a huge mess of things. Thanks guys. :smile.gif:
Wasted my evening ensuring a number of my textures aren't being redistributed without my permission within another 'Last Days' remix! Gah!!
History had my permission for a limited time to use my item textures and I'm of course happy for Croco15 to continue using them, but another remix pack is using my textures and advising others it's ok to remix what he's using. No mention of 'permission' or licence! :dry.gif:
Quickly these kind of 'hidden' pieces of artwork get lost with folk posting them all over the place. So I'm not really cool with this at the moment, especially after all the remix and licence talk. :sad.gif:

Lol! Just had an apology, for which I'm grateful, so hopefully the matter is ended. It's nice to be gentlemanly about these things and it is the 'Victorian' thing to do wouldn't you say? :smile.gif:
