I've ased this before and I apologize for posting it again...but just incase I got a reply and can't seem to find it...I'll ask again.
Is there anyway that you could make a female version of the characer or a skin for it I love the way the male looks and would love a female version of it...
Anyway...I absolutely love this texture pack d>_'ve been into stempunk for a really long time (though at the moment I am not fit enough to wear anything steampunk) and I can't wait to see more..
also the creepers look so cool in this pack...better than the regular pack.
Glimmar... I just have to say... I blame you. (and Faust) I'm making 50 bazillion alt textures and themes for my new pack... damn you for inspiring me to do it! lol
So, with the portal animation, I assume that you have to create a new .png file like with the other custom animations?
Yep. Just as Faust says.
I was thinking the portal animation would be a real humdinger of a task to do, but as soon as I had a go (based on what I'd sort of gleaned from hours and hours of tedious work on water and lava) I enjoyed it the most, because it has alsorts of possibilities. If I'd had more time there'd have been moving cogs and stuff in there! :biggrin.gif:
Yeah...my mom rules! She plays all the RPG and FPS games. Played more than me I think. You should see her new computer...I think it's from the future:DIf you look closely at my avatar, then the skellie....you'll see the inspiration. I wrote the story (first part) on my thread. The animation is exactly that. custom_portal.png I believe.I can't wait to see the new animations Glimm!!
How's your mum with Minecraft, Faust? My compliments again...she does sound a lady apart.
My apologies, regarding the mob work, that I didn't link it in with the story, but I did see the connection with the new avatar...and that avatar is still captivating!
Love this texture pack, it has such a great Victorian feel to it :smile.gif: I just happened on a yahoo article today on a real-life new york apartment with a steampunk look that immediately had me thinking of your texture pack. Here's the link if anyone want's to check it out, the pics are very neat http://ca.shine.yahoo.com/new-york-city-apartment-sails-back-in-time-.html
Thanks, Lithuen...much appreciate the comment and the pics. Very cool apartment. Without the grounding influence of my wife, I think my interior design would be pretty outlandish too. :biggrin.gif:
This was the first ever texture pack I wanted to use, but I didn't know how. Truly, you are a god among Minecraftians! And on the 14-billionth-or-so year, Glimmar said "Let there be STEAMPUNK!" and it, was, EXCELLENT! Simply asking...my Multiplayer doesn't work, do you know any ways I could fix it? Thanks!P.S: I gotta get MCPatcher soon, my water just looks plain still :tongue.gif:
Thanks to you too, DarkArk125. Not a god, just a little cog!! :biggrin.gif:
I'm hopeless at multiplayer I'm afraid. I enjoy empty worlds I can bend to my will so I've never really played multiplayer Minecraft other than with my sons...very occasionally...usually ends in fisticuffs!!
Just to warn you, even with MCPatcher fully operational you'll still find my water and lava un-animated, but that's what I've been working on the past few weeks...as a kind of cathartic exercise. They're finished now, but have been too busy with other things to update the pack and I want to get a little vid tour of my workshop area in my NewGlim world uploaded first.
This Texture Pack isn't on the front page anymore! This is UNACCEPTABLE!
You guys are very kind. :smile.gif: Not sure I deserve the bumps though when I'm so absent. Any free time I have is still devoted to Minecraft. I must be hopelessly hooked because I still have a year's worth of top games I still haven't installed or played yet. I'm sure you know what the hook is, you creative types. :biggrin.gif:
I'm starting yet another pack. This is an RPG pack...cause all them you whippersnappers are doing those now:P(nothing posted yet)
Haha! We swim against the tide of 'heroic rustic fantasy' with our packs, mate. :biggrin.gif:
I love rpg stuff as much as anyone, but I'm too old in the tooth to start anything new now, I think! Looking forward, as always to see what you come up with.
I've ased this before and I apologize for posting it again...but just incase I got a reply and can't seem to find it...I'll ask again. Is there anyway that you could make a female version of the characer or a skin for it I love the way the male looks and would love a female version of it...Anyway...I absolutely love this texture pack d>_'ve been into stempunk for a really long time (though at the moment I am not fit enough to wear anything steampunk) and I can't wait to see more..also the creepers look so cool in this pack...better than the regular pack.
It would only seem fair to have a female character too, and if I get a chance I certainly will, but there are a few more pressing things to do first on this pack and the usual lack of time to do it, but I certainly don't take offence at you asking, as I completely agree with you. :smile.gif:
There would be limitations, ie. no billowing Victorian dresses 'cos of the male template Notch originally created. :sad.gif:
Glimmar... I just have to say... I blame you. (and Faust) I'm making 50 bazillion alt textures and themes for my new pack... damn you for inspiring me to do it! lolcan't wait to see the new animations btw.
Hiya Grugsy. :smile.gif:
I'm getting worried my animations will surely be an anti-climax now! :unsure.gif: Your tutorials and Faust's examples were invaluable though.
I was gettin' a bit worried you'd disappeared, mate! Haha! I really look forward to seeing those themes and textures. It's the little square alts I enjoy doing most of all I think, though not those really important one's like cobble, dirt, grass, etc. I tend to waste hours and hours on those evil four-sided monsters. Perhaps that's why I like industrial man-made textures so much...you can get away with acceptable large scale patterns in architecture than those rustic textures. They take real skill.
Speaking of which...here's a pic of my real world rustic attempts at building a cabin/summer house for my wife:
...something I'd been promising for a long time. As you can see, all my Minecraft skills have been concentrated into each slap of mortar and slab of rock, lol. Just the foundations at the moment...halfway down our steep sloping garden so it's bit like an iceburg with a steep drop on the far side!
It's been a very therapeutic project and I wish I'd been able to vent my frustration on it today, because while at the hospital yesterday with my wife, someone smashed into the side of her parked car outside our house (most prob. a lorry) and no one saw it happen or left a calling card!! A thousand quid's worth on our insurance to get it road worthy again. :dry.gif:
It's been an expensive stressful summer so far, but such is life! Cars can be fixed or scrapped, and at least she wasn't in the car at the time, but it's just another sickener on top of everything else for her. :sad.gif:
Sorry 'bout the delay with the animations though.
ps. On a more positive note, my eldest son did well with his results and is off to uni in Oct. and along with the youngest's birthday, both have been occupying most of my free time this week.
yeah...I had to disappear for a while.. and lost track of what I was doing with PRMB... but..I'm ultimately more satisfied with the pack I'm doing now. I can't help but wonder about that foundation there mate..it's a little cramped... sure it isn't a place to stick her when you want quiet time? lol joking aside, it looks like some solid mortar work, can't wait to see pics of it completed :tongue.gif:
but you are right. Cars are but wheels and cogs, and it may cost you a lot of money to fix it. But ppl are invaluable, especially your wife! (do not pay too much attention, I'm just trying to make the missus let me at the monitor a little bit longer...XD)

Absent or not, this pack is rather unique in his type. There are no or not many Steampunk Texture Packs out there, and there are tons of most of the other genres. It's also one of the biggest texture packs, with many diffrent types and mod textures. It deserves a place on the front page :smile.gif:.
I have an idea that would make your texture pack even more enjoyable,
You see, some of the mobs have texture that turn them into robots. Awesome, really fitting for the texture pack. One problem, though: they still have their old, organic sounds. If you (or someone you know) could make a pack that changes the sound of mobs into more robotic sounds (mechanic voices/sounds and electric sounds), the texture pack will be even better! It doesn't modify the minecraft.jar, neither does it take any coding (as far as I know).
The sound files for mobs are in the folder (for Windows): \Application Data\.minecraft\resources\newsound\mob. As far as I know, you only have to change the sound file.
Please take this under consideration.

PS: You made the fire from the torches green. Looks nice, but this also affects the small flames jumping out of the lava. It looks quite strange when green fire comes out of the red/orange lava.
Because I doubt you have any time to walk through all of the earlier posts and questions and ideas, and because it seems you do look at new posts, I'll just bump my idea and teeny report. Hopefully you can increase the ammount of awesome of this texture pack with this.
Well, just...just look at it. It spells pain in the ass to animate in almost every pixel when still...XD
Yea, 16x animations are bad enough, can only imagine what that monster would be like... >.>
That little building project is looking awesome Glim! Can't wait to see the finished project if you ever do post pictures of it! Really sucks about the car though. Some people can be incredibly inconsiderate when it comes to driving. We've had 'mystery' cars drive into the back of two of our cars in the last month, no details left.... They weren't too badly damaged but still, quite a pain!
Gestank, that pack is looking great, can't wait to get my mitts on it! :smile.gif:

I don't mind waiting thanks for replying, for right now I can use the ones in your extra pack. I just like the hi-def look of your male.
And I was not expecting a billowy dress, just doesn't seem practical for this template :happy.gif:.
..and do you live in the UK? I ask this because you used the term quid...and some of the ways you type seem just so much more...hmm eloquent? Classy? Sophisticated?...(something along those lines)than the things us Americans use <- As you can tell from my posts.
Heh...yer doin real life MC huh? That looks awesomely fun! Wish i was there, I like doing landscaping.
Well the sun has been shining on and off and the kids have been earning lots of money (I don't get paid anything!) manning the cement mixer and breaking rocks (treat 'em like convicts is how I see it) so it's been very satisfying.

Sad to hear that man..:sad.gif: but you are right. Cars are but wheels and cogs, and it may cost you a lot of money to fix it. But ppl are invaluable, especially your wife!(do not pay too much attention, I'm just trying to make the missus let me at the monitor a little bit longer...XD)Here is sth to make you feel better man...C:http://walyou.com/victorian-era-steampunk-mouse-mod-is-remarkable/http://steampunkworkshop.com/keyboard.shtmlLooking forward to testing those animations ingame...(I can't for the love of me make my lava move, its an exercise in utter futility). XD
Thanks, Dante80. Nice to see you back too. :smile.gif:
You've probably been back ages and because I'm on so infrequently at the mo' I haven't had chance to catch up.
Haha! I love the steampunk peripherals. :smile.gif:
Well I can understand your frustration with lava. I like the end result of my efforts, but I made a fundamental mistake in using my existing lava texture as the basis for all the work, and along with making it come alive it's not ideal over vast areas in the Nether. I'm very pleased with straight flows and small areas though and discovered lots of pitfalls...so for now it'll have to do.
I should have taken a lesson from my water texture, which doesn't have any discernable direction and so looks good flowing in different directions.
Lol! Hope your missus extends your time on the monitor, cos you'll need it for animation work if you're anything like me. :smile.gif:

I know what you mean about the sound files...steam sounds and appropriate noises for the mobs etc. would make such a difference. The only trouble is I'm a complete noob when it comes to sound editing and any time I do get goes on the artwork. However, I knew nothing of animation before tackling my own lava, water, etc. and though I've only scraped the surface, I've kind of proved to myself that I can at least learn something new late on in life. Perhaps I might do the same with some unique sounds sometime...given the chance. Unless you're volunteering that is! :tongue.gif:

As regards the car, we'd only just got it back from the garage after it was shunted from behind into another car (so both ends got crushed) at a roundabout. It's never parked on the road and the one time we did (for all of 2 hours) and someone pushes a wing in. We bought the car from new a few years back and after a couple of weeks a tree fell onto the bonnet!! Even though I'm not superstitious I'm beginning to think the car is jinxed! :unsure.gif:

Yep. English born and bred, but very common and not in the least sophisticated! I used to be...but not any more. I better start polishing up on my education soon though, 'cos my eldest son has just recently finalised his offer of a place at Oxford to study English Literature. Definately got his brains from his mother and his love of history and literature and good looks (I wish) from his dad. :biggrin.gif:
