looking at all the artwork in Aether....it would be a serious undertaking to even try it. moa, aechor plants, aerwhale, the fire god, never mind all the new blocks and tools...not gonna happen anytime soon people =)
Looks like there is almost as much in the Aether as there is in vanilla Minecraft. Same with Industrial Craft and a couple of the other big mods. It would take a lot of work to get it all texturized properly.
Modified the sign a bit to better fit the new wood textures. Hope you like it.
Note: The font color may need to be changed in order for it to better show up on the signs. I may do this in a bit, if I feel the need.
EDIT: I attempted to change the font color, but it did not seem to affect the color of the font on the sign, only on the menus. I'll look into this more in depth to see if there's any way to get it to work.
Oh, on a side note, if you do use the new sign I made, name it "sign.png" and place it in the "items" folder and re-zip the texture pack.
I kinda feel sorry for Glimmar. When he gets back he is going to have to read a lot of posts mostly about the aether.
Nice work Ksheep and thanks for blending those textures while Glimmar is gone.
Just out of curiosity, how many other texture pack artists comment/follow this thread? I have an idea that I am tossing around that I think would make an extremely successful texture pack but it would take the collaboration of several TP artists.

Well, I'M not a texture pack artist, but I do dabble from time to time in tweaking what Glimmar has made. I know that Gestankfaust frequents this thread, and he has two or three TPs of his own (one of which is a 16x16 version of this one). I believe there are two or three others that have dedicated TPs (the creator of Mayacraft(?) comes to mind), and there are also a couple people who dabble with smaller projects, such as items and mobs (most of the current mobs and tools are donated by such members).
Ksheep is definitely dedicated...even if not a pack maker. Darn good tweaks sir!
:wink.gif:
I'm always around to help though.
Thank you. I still think that if I had more time I could actually do some more original stuff instead of just tweaks… but such is life. Still haven't gotten around to looking into making that Multi-skin Minecart mod.
i like the engine and the pack. the thing is that keeps me from using it is im a big mod fan so i have to patch the texture and that sometimes gets rid of my mods other wise great texture Keep up the good work!
Thinking of installing some mods on my laptop, since I mostly do SMP on my desktop. I'm probably gonna try out the Æther and possibly Industrial Craft, along with some others, and I may throw together some sort of texture sheet for them off of what's in the extras, maybe modify some existing textures, and maybe even make my own textures. One thought is to make the Æther extremely metallic, similar to how the Nether is now, but make it lighter. I'll post my results here once I get something working, and if there's enough request (and if I get permission) I'll upload something here.
EDIT: A little off topic, but here's something I came across that I thought you might enjoy. Now if only we had an alternate Gold block based on this…

man if they ever made a SteamPortal that had companion cubes like that....i would definitely pay for a copy. NAO.
Yeah...bad timing is the name of the game these days for me (and Pipehead, and Kendawg, and Glimmar, and.... :biggrin.gif:). I should now be on a ton more. I had the carpets in the house done (cleaned and repaired). Took almost 24 straight hours of being not online...
Got a bit more work on the lower level of my base. Built myself a small library.
If you've seen my other stuff of this base, you probably already guessed what that lever is for. Yep, secret door.
Still haven't built anything on the other side of the door. It's currently just a corridor, but I'm thinking of adding some more farm area, and I may have a tunnel leading to the mines.
Couldn't we use some of the Alt. Textures to Throw together an Aether?
I like the idea of Steampunk Valkyries with Mechanical wings...
If the community works together we can do this I think.
I was planing on looking into this, probably going to go with a metallic route. Should be easy enough to get the blocks using the alt textures, but not so sure about the items. If someone could throw together some of the items...
awesome texture pack but could i suggest that the leather cap can be just plain goggles on the forehead without a cap attached? thanks for taking the time to read this.
I'm not sure what's going on, and this is most likely an answer that is right in front of my face but I just can't figure out how to get the custom animations for lava and portal to work. I have used mcpatcher and I have other texture packs with custom effects, but when I add them to the zip file and then place it in the texture pack folder, when I select the option for the texture pack in mine craft, it doesn't change anything. Am I doing something wrong, and I love this texture pack btw, I've never been one for steampunk, but after using this pack a little I think I'll keep it for a while.

Try this:
Make sure it's named cloth1.png, place it into the "armor" folder, and rezip everything.

Not entirely sure. Did you add the custom animations to the main folder of the Pack, are they named properly, and did you re-zip it afterwards? Also, make sure you select the edited version of the pack in Minecraft.
