I'd be interested to know if it does the same as the one in my vid. I've not had a chance to reproduce it myself and was just wondering if mine was a bit of a fluke! :unsure.gif:
From what i can tell, it performs exactly like the one displayed on youtube. Pistons fire at (seemingly) random intervals and sounds like redstone torches burning out.
This type of art isn't my cup of tea and pizza but I give you mad props for creating something new and different and creating it with skill. This pack deserves the recognition is receives. PIZZA FIVE!
posting this pack on Planet Minecraft would be a good idea. Over 2/3rds of my downloads have come from PMC and even with that sort of traffic there are only 10 comments. Keeping track of it isn't that hard :smile.gif:.

I remember your name well, but without looking back through this ridiculously overlong thread I can't remember more than that. It's an age thing with me. :sad.gif:
There's still much to do though! By page 600 I might have just about completed the pack...that's my optimistic view. :biggrin.gif:
I threw together a package of slightly modified textures from your alternatives for the FunctionalBooks and FancyPack mods a while back. I think the FancyPack stuff was only half done though so when I quit minecraft for a while I gave up on it. I believe we exchanged PMs back and forth while I was doing that to get feedback from you on the quality of the editing I was doing.
Speaking of which, I'm currently stitching together a package for the MysticRuins/Ores/Stones mod. I can post pictures if anyone wants to see.

its safe..really...just put your hand near that spinning blade.../me whistles...
I'm getting worried at this point! :unsure.gif:
Having only rudimentary knowledge from a prop point of view I agree with you, it can be really annoying the way redstone behaves at the moment. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with MaudDib. Although, I must admit, all the pics of these giant cpu's by you and others look absolutely stunning visually, because of the way you have to route the redstone. Why did Notch do it that way, when I assume it's one of the things he's keen on as far as I know?
Nonsense. You'll have it done by page 450. Pages 450 to 600 will be spent catching up on adding all the stuff from 1.8. :wink.gif:
From all the hints and news it does seem like he's putting just about every mod in the modding section into this next update. Lol! I'm having panic attacks already, I'll up my estimate for pack completion to page 1,000 now.
From what i can tell, it performs exactly like the one displayed on youtube. Pistons fire at (seemingly) random intervals and sounds like redstone torches burning out.
So at least folk know I didn't hide anything. Glad to know it works, thanks mate.
It would be nice to build up a little collection of 'steam' and other esoteric machine schematics for general use in our world of evil genius super villains. :cool.gif:

Haha, you little realize how old fashioned I am. It takes me about three days just to get the Minecraft Forums update zipped up, uploaded and that's even after I've finished all the artwork, another day to try and make sense of my OP using one finger ninja typing skills and then a week lying in a darkened room to recover from the pressure of it all!! :ohmy.gif:
I'm quite possibly the most disorganised indecisive person you're ever likely to meet. The only reason I have so many alternative terrain textures, is not because I'm super fast and efficient and want to give folk plenty of choice, it's simply down to my dithering over what should go where and forgetting where I put half my stuff I've been working on on my harddrive. My kids get a good laugh out of my feeble attempts at efficiency though, so it's not all bad news. :biggrin.gif:
A lot of kind folk here on the forums have been very generous in offering artwork for my pack as temporary stand-ins, until I get round to making my own versions...so I don't feel it would be fair or proper to use their stuff anywhere else other than where they were originally offered. I just wouldn't feel comfortable using their work in that way.

Oh yes! That's why your name is memorable to me. My sincere apologies for not realizing this from the beginning, CubicMeter. You were very generous and passed your textures on to me and I've still got them in the 'extras' download with your name on them. I can only plead old age and a failing memory as excuse for being so slow to remember. Welcome back mate, it's nice when folk pop back like this, but it kind of makes me feel even more of an old timer. Lol!
There was some talk when Notch introduced the map that it would pave the way for other things like the Functional Books mod, but so far nothing has come of that...unless that's another thing Notch has got planned for the 1.8 update.
Have you got a link to that Mystic Ruins/Ore/Stones mod? I just want to see if it's the same as another ruins mod I used to use a lot. How will that mod fit with Notch's planned addition of ruins in the 1.8 update?
And don't worry, I didn't expect you to remember me. I had forgotten about this texture pack project since then and would've kept forgetting if I hadn't cleaned out my PM inbox after all this time.

i dont think redstone was intended for the insane contraptions people are building these days. but then again, look at the rest of the game: look at the fantastic fortresses, castles, airships, monsters, minecart roller coasters and dungeons people are cranking out these days. I'm betting notch didnt think someone would actually sit down and try to layout an entire cpu in a world where the smallest item you can work with is 1 meter cubed. but here we are... suffering through all the limitations and making these enormous city sized landscapes of circuitry. thats why i want to do this mod..this could cut down on almost half the work.
It would be nice to build up a little collection of 'steam' and other esoteric machine schematics for general use in our world of evil genius super villains. :cool.gif:
Did you have something similar to this in mind?
I connected 4 sticky pistons to a redstone "blink device" that pushes/pulls a glowstone block in and out of view, its really neat to watch at night.
Successfully replicated the Glowstone building in about 15 minutes of tinkering. Haven't gotten around to the "Difference Engine", but will probably do that tomorrow. Spent most of my time today trying to hook up a portal to a new area I claimed. Problem was, there was no clear space in the Nether for the portal. Ended up digging a tunnel through the Nether until I got close enough for it to snap the exit to the overworld portal.
Anyway, here's my version of the glowstone engine.
I decided to try out one of the alt glass, as you can see here. I really like how it turned out. The building itself looks a bit bigger, but it appears that that is just because I built it one square higher up compared to the other one, ie. the pistons are at ground level, not one below. I probably could have made it a bit more efficiently, but this seems to work.
Thanks mate. :smile.gif: I can't promise I'll be able to visit soon, especially as our hols are coming up, but I'll look out for that banner if I get a chance to look in.
Here it is: MysticRuins ModAnd don't worry, I didn't expect you to remember me. I had forgotten about this texture pack project since then and would've kept forgetting if I hadn't cleaned out my PM inbox after all this time.
No, I remember you well, I just have a problem putting names to forum faces. :smile.gif:
The ruins mod your interested in isn't the one I used, that one allowed for quite complicated user designed biome specific ruins to be entered in a config file and these would randomly pop up in newly explored parts of the world. I do like all the new ores, etc. very nice indeed.

I agree, it must be incredibly satisfying for Notch, not just to have an amazingly successful sandbox game that's earned him many millions, but that it knows no limits in the creative uses it's been put to. Similarly with modding and texturing for it. In all my years playing PC games I've never come across quite such a phenomenon as this. Other software houses must be looking on enviously and frantically musing over how they might emulate this new genre. Exciting times for PC owners. :smile.gif:
Hope you've got something new for my OP soon, mate, your last pics of the huge battleship stopped displaying ages ago and with great sadness had to eventually tidy things up, but I'd love to have another pic or two.

That's exactly what I had in mind. Brilliant
Stuff like this really helps to make a world look alive. If you see each construction as components that can be strung together or assembled in different ways, I could imagine some amazing environments. That glowstone machine for example would look great in the bowels of an epic steampunk battleship laid out in a line. Would it look like some sort of energy was being pumped along?
Thanks BeuTube. :smile.gif: No pun intended but that was one of my 'pet' projects and I put a lot of effort into trying to make all the moving parts look like they were swivelling on ball joints, etc. I'd have loved to have done more steamwolf variations.
Hard edges and machines don't conflict with each other, and as all the mobs are made up of hard edged blocks, it's very tempting to make them all mechanical...especially as Misa has made such a large collection of very nice naturalistic looking mobs.
This is an awsome texture pack, then I was even more suprised when I saw the mods and the other texture pack,
The whole thing is great. P.S the texture packs are still my fav to date :smile.gif:
most probably not...it will introduce only 1 new block, the conduit. There is the limit with redstone wires losing power after a length of 16 wires...this is why the repeaters were introduced to help that and build longer wires. I have to look at the code and see if i can kill that and make runs as long as you like without repeaters. i remember there was a mod that did exactly this, havent seen it in a long time tho. if anything, i can add a 'conduit repeater' to do what the current repeaters do.
From what i can tell, it performs exactly like the one displayed on youtube. Pistons fire at (seemingly) random intervals and sounds like redstone torches burning out.
