That's a very kind offer, Kaiassc. I'm notoriously slow at keeping up, but I will get round to it and I'd like to do it myself as it'll probably be a good organisational experience for me, but if I get stuck I'll be sure to shout out for help.
It might still be a while,'cos my wife had some surgery in hospital today and I'm currently ferrying our kids backwards and forwards and doing all the housework, etc. Something I already do, being the modern man I am. :biggrin.gif: Just a bit more intense for the next week. I'm currently typing this over my lunch! :smile.gif:
Many thanks again for the offer, it's a fantastic site and an amazing resource. :smile.gif:
anyone here have experience with the ingame pistons? i keep having issues with them when i try making 2 or 3 sticky pistons in a row move at the same time, especially when vertically stacked
like for example, the secret door trick:
i have that exactly as in the video...and for some reason, one of the blocks wont move right...the other 3 move perfectly, and the piston that wont behave is activating, so i know it has power...is there a glitch i dont know about with the ingame implementation of pistons?
Worth1000 contest is over, voting has started. I just looked through everything, and there are some rather impressive builds, as well as a number of par to sub-par builds. It seems as though one person submitted 4 or 5 different airships, all of which were very well done.
Just wanted to let you know that I am going to give your TP a test run. My curiosity has overridden my innate dislike of steampunk. That and your TP looks really nice and I want to see it in game. My bro and I are building a large (200x100x?) obsidian keep and I am curious to see what it looks like steampunked.Edit: Wow...This pack looks even better in game. However my lava/water/fire is still broke...(sigh)
Thanks mate. :smile.gif:
I like it when anyone using the pack thinks it looks better than they expected when they load it up. Sorry to hear about the lava, etc.
posted a bunch of pics in my gallery showing off some digital gadgetry i've been messing around with, including a working 7 segment led display, driven by pistons =) i love that iron block texture =)Minecraft Ironworks
Amazing! I don't understand any of it, but it looks awesome and I absolutely love seeing the redstone pipes used in that way, especially on the iron block!
Even though I love messing around with redstone wiring, anything I do with it is mostly random and hopefully looks good, but that's the artist in me, and why I'm in awe of guys like you who actually understand how to use redstone as real circuitry, etc.

Some amazing builds, but only one or two using Glimmar's Steampunk. :sad.gif: ...Oh well.
Love the back view, Squid. Sorry you missed the deadline, but perhaps I should set some sort of competition here and give everyone more time to produce something. :smile.gif:
By the way, I think your tank is one of the first landbased vehicles (not counting walkers) I've seen. I'd love to see a vast caterpillar tracked behemoth though...fortress/city scale. :smile.gif:
Nooooooo! You leave my brain alone, I say!! :dry.gif:
I remember seeing the trailers for that movie and wanting to see it, but we were moving to a large rundown Victorian/Edwardian house at the time that needed much work to make it habitable. The film may also have not made it to general release where we lived, but I remember very much wanting to see it. I also love most of the movies Ron Perlman has starred in, not least of which is 'Hellboy' 1 and 2
Yeah, my water/fire/lava texture have never worked. Doesn't matter what TP I use either I still get a scaled version of the default. No one seems to be able to help me either. It makes testing my water/fire/lava textures a little difficult :tongue.gif:.

That's given me an idea for the slime...'Glimmar's Brain'. How weird and egotistical would that be? Having my brain in a tank flopping around Minecraft...at least everyone would have the satisfaction of squishing me and slapping my brains all over a sticky piston! Lol! :biggrin.gif:
I'm trying to remember where I've seen that pic before, but i love the steampunk design. There's quite a few of my textures on display in that one pic...now perhaps folk will understand why I can't talk on Skype or similar...it would be too horrifying to contemplate!!! :blink.gif:
Haha! Thanks Aageon, and definately not off topic. I'm loving it as an idea now. :smile.gif:
That is from the awesome steampunk movie City of Lost Children. Also Gestankfaust you think you might be able to make a vid on how to make a 3-d cthulhu head in mc? Cause I needing to make one atop my tower but I having some troubles
Those photographs are really beautiful, aageon. You have a better camera than I, but we do share the same make...mine is a 500D...I couldn't make a case to the family for spending more when i needed a new camera! :sad.gif:
I guess the reason why I'm drawn to your pack is that we both must love old technology. I'm no engineer/scientist or historian, but i love all three subjects. Your photographs remind me I need to get out more with my camera and spend less time infront of my LCD (sorry LED. Haha just got a new monitor!)
At the moment it's pure chaos as I've been transferring all the builds from my ancient year old world to a brand new world and the 'colony' pods are stuck in orbit at teh moment! Lol
The only things so far dropped down to the planet's surface are my unfinished Grand Central Railway Terminus and my private dock and part built city wall...oh and the beginnings of a much larger dock as seen in my OP.

Wow! That would be difficult. Is it related to the problem above about rain not working either, as in is it to do with your operating system and some incompatibilty with the patcher?
I'm having problems with registration still since the 1.6 update after transferring everything to a new computer. I can play online with my password etc, but I can't play offline without getting a warning message about it being a copy!!
After deleting all my games from the old computer except Minecraft...I was in the middle of updating Glimmar's Steampunk to 1.6 and didn't want to risk losing everything in the transfer, so carried on working on the old computer and stupidly played it on my new one too to see what it looked like on my new uber machine. I can only guess this flagged up as illegal and improper use of my legitimate game that I purchased back in july 2010. I emailed Mojang about the problem nearly a month ago and still haven't had a reply.
I much prefer playing offline, but can't stand the idea that Mojang think I'm a criminal! :sad.gif:
Man, I LOVE your texture pack, so I made a city dedicated to it.
Ofcourse It's a steampunk styled city, but it's far from done.
Here are a few sneak peeks though, tell me what you think:
That's awesome work there, billycrazyjoe. :smile.gif:
You've been busy with the glowstones and the powered tracks and I love the idea of the 'downlights' made from using the trapdoor as covers and only having the underside shining down. i tried something similar when I tested out the new glowstone, but I made four-sided shuttered lanterns that opened up like petals. Haha, liking the Professor's hideaway. :biggrin.gif:
I also love the higgledy piggledy nature of the buildings, as that feels very steampunk to me. You'll have to give us some progress pics as it gets bigger.

ehhh....I highly doubt it. Reason being, there was no method to my madness :biggrin.gif:
Just made a big half sphere, extended the bottom to the sea floor, cut off the front for the face, then made the face til I was happy'ish with it. Kept stopping, traveling a distance away, then going back and changing it. Thing that took the longest was the face.

Nah, my rain works fine. Looks great to :smile.gif:. Just the water/fire/lava. One guy I am talking to thinks it may have something to do with the 64 bit version of java. Most people don't use it even if they have a 64 bit OS because Java installs the 32 bit by default no matter what OS you have. Because of that the HD patcher was probably written for the 32 bit version...or something like that. I don't know... but it is frustrating me. Especially since no one seems to know what the problem is.
Edit: Well now I feel like a bit of an ass. Apparently the usage instructions on the MCpatcher thread are incorrect and I have been using the thing wrong the entire time. though my fire still doesnt work, but that may be a problem with my TP

I'm glad someone else has a methodless madness about their approach to Minecraft. I don't use any kind of flying mod when I construct. Just endless tramping back and forth like you to see how things look from a distance. That's the sculptor part of you, Faust. :biggrin.gif:

I want to say that that is just how Minecraft is now. Whenever you play offline, it says that it's an illegal copy. I think it's due to how they have the checker. It probably looks on the player database to see if your name is on there. If it isn't (or if it can't connect), it says that it's an illegal copy. There shouldn't be any harm in playing on it, just be careful with screenshots, as people may get mad at you if they see that.
my goodness this thread is madness! hahaha. I love how much this pack has grown glimmar! Loving the new textures and the huge alternates list you have, WOW. Thanks heaps for the inspiration I have taken into account in my texture pack.
hehe...well...I have been known to use voxel or world edit once in a while :biggrin.gif:
Only heard of voxel recently, but I'm using world edit at the moment to transfer all my individual builds from old to new Glimmar's World. I still build hands on style as the masochistic effort put in somehow makes the end result all the more satisfying...also makes it feel more 'real'.
@The all new 'Launch-o-Matic' piston bed.Gratz for reminding me of Wallace and Gromit!
Wallace and Gromit, another of my many influences and undoubtedly just as Steampunk as anything out there. Incidentally, and forgive me if I've mentioned this before, but the Wallace and Gromit creator Nick Park and I come from the same area, where he grew up is just a few doors away from where my sister currently lives, and was living at the time. We are the same age and I probably passed him in the street many times without realizing it, I just wished we'd been good friends...he could be giving me some good tips on animation now! :biggrin.gif:

Haha, there's no way I'd put up a pic with that printed at the top!
Both my sons bought Minecraft the same week I did and when they play offline they don't get the warning message! I have a reply from Mojang to say they have received my email and are looking into it (just a stock reply I know), but so far no answer and even though I have sent adequate proof of purchase I don't have much faith it will be resolved.
The only thing stopping me from buying another copy is that I'd have to use another name, and 'Glimmar' is somewhat precious and sentimental to me now. I know I could use a variation like Glimmar1, etc., but it wouldn't be the same. However, you say that message is standard now...which I find very frustrating! :sad.gif:

It's an Enormous Tank!
Some building It blasted...
And back view showing the boiler.
Damn the Trolls! Full Steam Ahead!
