I believe if you "place them" on a tree log, you should be able to make your own trees anywhere. Just like normal trees, the leaves should stay if attached to logs. Just a guess though...This will help keep a smile on yer face...
I don't know how I missed that (well I do...update time!), but yer right...had me in stitches. I hope you do more vids like this Faust, there's so much potential for hilarity in this game. Comedy genius. :laugh.gif:
So the only thing added were shears and pistons. Since you already have pistons it's pretty much an easy update for you, huh? Still I know you said that they were just a prototype, so if you do decide to upgrade, I know it will be fantastic; however, I am still waiting anxiously on the armor upgrades. ^^
Thanks Syrius013. Hope you like what i did in the end.
The texture for Hippoplatimus's original piston mod wasn't useable for this one and although initially when I saw Jebs version I was a little disappointed it wasn't as chunky, I'm now 100% pleased it was done this way. Still a little strange with water, but that's easily remedied with a block on a sticky piston. Hope the armor didn't disappoint. :smile.gif:
This far i'v only liked, no loved, one texture pack. You sir, broke that in half and I now love this. I am usually not a fan of animals looking anything other than they should, but you sir. Are awesome for this. I love everything about this.
Thanks e7TopHat.
I initially wanted all the animals to be natural, but as Misa has done such wonderfully excellent variations anyway I'm not overly rushing to do something similar. As they take so long to do...a few days for each, I just have to take each one individually and see what pops into my head at the time. Gestankfaust is a master at coming out with the weird and wonderful and very generous at letting me borrow stuff. Trouble is he's making me lazy in that area :tongue.gif:
I like that observation, mate. :smile.gif: I think the Steampunk I like is sandwiched somewhere between Elizabethan and Victorian era design and tech with a little bit of Leonardo (not the superhero turtle variety) thrown in. Hence the dark quality to the theme. Perhaps too dark for most.
Hey...did anyone happen to see the "extra" they left in this update (like the "weeping obsidian" from last update)?
New mob - The Silverfish
What is this about? Not being in the loop I miss all sorts of things. :mellow.gif: Have I missed something out again. I did notice there's a watercolor.png triangle now in official Minecraft. Has anyone had a tinker with it yet...I didn't get a chance, but it sounds interesting?
Wow Glim! I almost cried with joy after seeing the new textures and armours. Just mind boggling! It almost seems like this game is starting to cater towards your pack with the addition of pistons and what-not. :wink.gif:
Gestank, if you read this, just like to say: YOUR GHAST IS FREAKING AWESOME! :biggrin.gif:
Yeah man, great way to insert a bunch-o-pics in a single post and not make the page a bazillionandeleven meters long. I love it! Also is easier on those who are bandwidth challenged or those daring or desperate enough to surf from a mobile device. :unsure.gif:
Updates are Glimmar.. just grabbed the new set, about to go mess around and start retrofitting the city from the shots above, complete the vision I had before my map was reset.
Sky Reach appears in the background. My first 'abstract' structure, and the very first scraper I built in this location. It was in essence what became the catalyst for the other buildings you've already seen.
Some night shots, 'cuz ..well, I mean LOOK at it..
Wowza!
Also, Gestankfaust, the new Ghast is awesome!
Just an off-topic question, Gestankfaust; has your name got something to do with Faust? That play by Goethe?
I don't know how I missed that (well I do...update time!), but yer right...had me in stitches. I hope you do more vids like this Faust, there's so much potential for hilarity in this game. Comedy genius. :laugh.gif:
:biggrin.gif:
I did the vocals too...and there will be more videos cause I'm getting into the custom sound file thing now. Can U say..."Custom Steampunkery"?

It was just an extra mobs, so far unused. But still very cool to have popped open the newest jar file and found that.
Also, Gestankfaust, the new Ghast is awesome!

Thanks you berry mucho!
Gestankfaust = a German (sloppy) translation of Stinkfist...a song by the group Tool
Can't wait for the update! Sounds like everything is going well. Also, just a heads up, looks like 1.8 will have quite a few new blocks. Notch just leaked a pic displaying
giant mushrooms (and an NPC village using current blocks)
and Jeb leaked a picture of what appears to be
an alternate stone and a gate
Pics below:
Wow there's a lot happening all of a sudden and Notch seems to be implementing a number of the more popular mod ideas. Although Villages was his own originally...I think. Hope your work is going ok too. :smile.gif:
Holy crap glimmar, those textures are amazing. I always enjoy going through your extras file. Those iron doors look particularly good. I will have fun customizing this. :tongue.gif:
Well and again you sir gave me something that made my minecraft-life more worth living.if i could i would take a look in to your mind to find out where all those brilliant ideas come from. And i would surely not be surprised if your entire mechanism of thinking was composed of cogs, wheels, pipes and all sorts of other parts of steampunk machinery...
Thanks, Elvenmaster. That's spooky, because last time I saw my doctor he said exactly the same thing looking at my x-ray and I thought he was just being dramatic! :biggrin.gif:

Glad you like it mate. :smile.gif: Amazing pics and yes I'm going to use this spoiler skill more often now, as I feel less guilty posting pics then! Lol. May I use some for my OP please?
Yep, the furnace retexture is awesome as expected. What I didn't see coming was the new wooden boards. Amazing! My fortress has never looked so good!
I like the armors too. Nice use of transparency. Now I feel all Brotherhood of Steel. :smile.gif:

"... one of the main causes of the fall of the Roman Empire was that, lacking zero, they had no way to indicate successful termination of their C programs." - Robert Firth
To quote Waynes world...WE ARE NOT WORTHYWE ARE NOT WORTHYWE ARE WORMS!!!Etc.Seriously , I am VERY impressed with the update Glim , the new textures are great and well worth the effort. The thought and artistry put into them is staggering and once again you have failed to dissapoint your many fans. Much kudosI also want to thank Faust , the new ghast is so goddam scary I almost shat myself when I opened up the spoiler. It reminds me of the doomsday machine from an old episode of trek. I can almost imagine it boring its way up from the nether to eat my soul...
This place is weird I can tell you. When I read your comment above my son was actually watching the DVD of Wayne's World on his comp and I was already chuckling over it. You can't see into our little IT. room can you? Haha! :biggrin.gif: Many thanks, sirscott.
You sir are a top manA TOP MAN I SAY *looks at pocket watch*I'm late, Its late very very late *runs off*(and the ghasts somehow remind me of War of the worlds)
Why, thank you, m12345n. Haha! I always wanted a nice pocket watch.
I'm amazed I even got a mention, Faust...seriously. Most folk like the fantasy or faithful approach to Minecraft, so I'm very, very happy to get such a dark niche theme like Steampunk in there. :smile.gif:
Once again, awesome work on everything. Your piston is awesome! Very very steampunkish. I also like all of the armors. The diamond one reminds be of this:
I have one of these on a shelf next to my computer. Not sure how or where I got it. It took plenty of time finding a picture of something when you have barely any idea what it is. Found out it was from a discontinued type of MegaBlocks called "Dragons". Guess you learn something new everyday! :tongue.gif:
Thanks so much Croco. Like Faust and Sheep I respect what you do so means a lot to get a compliment. My diamond armor really does look like that little figure! :blink.gif: I have loads of little things cluttering up my work space, keep meaning to tidy up, but it's amazing how inspirational these things can be over time.
Yeah, I love the new armor too! Reminds me of the powered armor from Fallout. I think I recall you mentioning that as an inspiration?
It must have been. I didn't look at it for inspiration, but anyone whose used their PC for gaming must have that figure/image from Fallout frozen onto their retinas...such a memorable pic. Thanks, Hunter. :smile.gif:
Shears are amazing, but what really blew my mind is the armor. I finally got around to updating this pack and I can't believe how it's gotten even more awesome. Great work, as usual! :smile.gif: *wanders around map wearing goggles*
Picture of my newest cannon site. This one is being guarded by a damaged SteamGolem. Its stocky and imposing frame enough to keep even the most foolhardy of raiders at bay, even in its current condition.
The cannon its self has been changed a lot for this model, i may post a save file so you can check out the inner workings of the facility. its not pretty inside, but ive been messing around with pistons and making some pretty cool things with that.
More screens to come later if im not too tired :tongue.gif:
I do like the spider. well, i dont like spiders and they creep me out, but yours looks pretty dang awesome
profile view of the gun. used dispensers as gas vents along the back, pistons as a breach loading mechanism, and redesigned the gunner canopy and mounts.
Also, yer spiders is the what inspired me to build more cannons!
Wow Glim! I almost cried with joy after seeing the new textures and armours. Just mind boggling! It almost seems like this game is starting to cater towards your pack with the addition of pistons and what-not. ;)Gestank, if you read this, just like to say: YOUR GHAST IS FREAKING AWESOME! :biggrin.gif:
Thanks, Sheep...it means a lot. :smile.gif::Diamond:
I can't lie, Notch and Jeb have been very kind recently. :tongue.gif: Now if only they'd separate the fence texture from the wood... that'd be awesome for sure. Is anyone else having fun with all the possibilities of constructing with fences and pushin' stuff up into the sky with pistons? Contrary to what many considered to be just little changes has turned out amazing for gadgety constructions.
I did the vocals too...and there will be more videos cause I'm getting into the custom sound file thing now. Can U say..."Custom Steampunkery"?
I remember Pipe or you saying you did a cool Beavis and Butthead impression and it's true. I just assumed you'd used a sound clip. Please do some more, mate as they'r just great for lightening things up around here and I've always loved Machinima movies.
It was just an extra mobs, so far unused. But still very cool to have popped open the newest jar file and found that. Thanks!
Well I missed it altogether, but nothing new there. It would be fantastic to have little fishes...and distant birds...and random nature noises...and random wind noises up high...I'll just stop and carry on dreaming before I explode! :biggrin.gif:
Yep, the furnace retexture is awesome as expected. What I didn't see coming was the new wooden boards. Amazing! My fortress has never looked so good!I like the armors too. Nice use of transparency. Now I feel all Brotherhood of Steel. :smile.gif:
Really glad you like the wood...a bit relieved about that too, because it's impossible to tell how little changes can really effect other people's builds and wood is such a fundamental building block.
Because I mostly build rather than adventure now, the armor has never seemed very important to me, but as soon as I donned my first diamond armor edit I immediately felt a lot safer. Funny how a few pixels can effect how you feel about a game! :biggrin.gif:
It looks interesting! :smile.gif: Being the lazy kind of guy I am, I like The_Fool76's Texture Mix Machine as it requires less work from me and folk can download it and use without having to log in, etc. Still early stages yet, but huge potential!
Shears are amazing, but what really blew my mind is the armor. I finally got around to updating this pack and I can't believe how it's gotten even more awesome. Great work, as usual! :smile.gif: *wanders around map wearing goggles*
Much thanks, lucca. :smile.gif:
There was a temptation to do some fancy, fancy steam sheers, but just not enough time, and as they are a fairly basic piece of kit I decide to keep it simple...I might have another look sometime though.
brilliant is an understatement, amazing texturepack i think notch needs to hire you.
Haha...you're very kind, mate. I'm very concious I'm swimming against the tide with this pack though, as it is very niche (and personal) both in style and content...so I am truly amazed it's still knocking around!
I'm just grateful Notch and crew allow us to mess around with his game to such an extent that we can all create our own vision of a world...It's certainly what keeps me interested in the game.
Picture of my newest cannon site. This one is being guarded by a damaged SteamGolem. Love your builds, Strike1101. Oh! and your avatar...very spiffing indeed!
Nice to see them in closeup here and hope the new sides of the furnace come in handy for 'steam feeds' into the barrel of any future rail guns. I bet Notch's piston has been great fun to muck around with. :smile.gif: How do you feel about the brass barrel holes I used in place of green gloop for the sticky piston?
I'm okay with spiders...it's just Gestank's variety definately need something like your cannon for a feeling of security.
Incidentally, looking at your cannon, made me wonder if anyone had ever built a huge futuristic battlefield with Minecraft...or is that going against the spirit of the game? :unsure.gif:
Well, things I'm looking into editing for the future...glass, brick, sandstone, tnt and ores again. Some things having been edited and re-edited to distraction are looking a bit tired to me now. I'd still love to be able to make the ores an extra building material if possible, but until Notch makes two varieties of stone I'm not sure it's ever going to be a viable idea.
Also the wool I may divide between the 'balloon' and smooth variety, just with less shades of color for greater building possibilities. Perhaps splitting it 3 ways between balloon, smooth and a new 'panelled' version I've been thinking of. It would just be nice to have the choice of different wool materials (without having to use alternate edits that change everything).
I'll show you what I mean as soon as I get a chance and with v1.8 on the horizon Minecraft has never looked so exciting. Although I can't say I'm too excited about 'giant mushrooms':blink.gif: or the villages (hope they'll be optional elements in game), but I love that ruins will be in! Personally I like my worlds to feel deserted...it feeds the 'hermit' syndrome sickness I suffer from. :biggrin.gif:
Thanks, Hunter. I just realized I haven't been over and looked at your work for ages, sorry about that! :sad.gif:
Don't worry. To be honest, neither have I! So much going on - moving in a couple months, family health issues, changing jobs, and I have spent the last month on beta testing Star Wars: The Old Republic. So my time for Minecraft has been slim - I've barely been able to play, let alone do any texturing.
