@ -=SoK=-: That's what I call Steampunk architecture...wonderful!
Why all the spoilers everyone? Lol! Must try that option out some time. :smile.gif:
Anyways, just a very quick look in to say I hope to post an update today, hopefully...probably! Having to make armor icons and have it all tie in delayed things somewhat. Oh, and that thing called real life got in the way too!
I will go back later and look at any posts I've missed. :smile.gif:
Glimmar, you've forgotten to add the new extras to the extra-zip. I think.
Otherwise, I'm just waiting for your new pistons. I'm sure they'll be lovely.
Perhaps you'll update both at the same time, in that case, sorry for my ramblings.
Everythings to be updated sometime today, mate, for the 1.7.1 update...including all the stuff I've been collecting for the 'Extras' folder. So a lot of new things to look forward to. :smile.gif: Glimmar's v2.6 and Glimmar's Extras v2.6
Just assembling it all and double checking it as I type.

Heh, I just realised that, and deleted that comment you're replying too just a moment before you replied.
Can't wait for the update! Sounds like everything is going well.
Also, just a heads up, looks like 1.8 will have quite a few new blocks. Notch just leaked a pic displaying
giant mushrooms (and an NPC village using current blocks)
and Jeb leaked a picture of what appears to be
an alternate stone and a gate
Pics below:
Those buildings are quite ugly, especially if they are around everywhere. The ruins look interesting though.
Hey, Glimmar, I found that victorian and arabesque themes have a lot in common. Either way, texturemixing yours and mine (if mine is finished) might give wonderfull results.
Here, just look at the iron door, it would look good in your pack as well.
(It's in a spoiler-package because elsewise it'd feel like self-advertisement)
Instructions, credits, etc. in my OP as per usual. Or will be when I get a chance! This post is for you nice people who keep looking in, to get an advance download. Thank you for your support
New Stuff for Glimmar's Steampunk V. 2.6
"So what's new?", you may be asking. Well, rather a lot actually, so read on:
New Steampunk Piston
I had a lot of fun making this and I'm looking forward to even more fun playing with it. I've tried to make something that fits the Steampunk theme and also blend well with other textures like the iron block, furnace stuff and wood. It's designed to fit to my redstone piping, so I hope you like what I've come up with.
Rather than slapping a lot of green slime all over the face of the sticky piston, I've gone for a slightly more useful 'suction' representation. This thing is pneumatic after all...so that's what the little brass ringed holes are for. As usual I'm also looking to make the piston a useful prop in other situations, so the holes might be vents, barrel holes, decoration, etc. which you wouldn't get with a load of green sticky jelly. When you're crafting a sticky piston you're just going to have to imagine the green stuff is for greasing the moving parts associated with the suction mechanism. [Ed: keep any jokes clean and wholesome...thanks! :smile.gif:]
I've made a few alternative textures for the piston on my new 'Alternative Texture Sheet No. 3.' See below. I'll probably do more over time, particularly for the face of the sticky piston, as there's endless potential with this theme.
These things are the reason I didn't get my update out yesterday! Forgot all about the need for item icons and they're frustrating fiddly little things to do. :sad.gif:
The Leather and Iron armor are finished. The Diamond and Gold armor are place holders obviously derived from my iron armor. I've made them a little more distinct than just a simple color edit by giving each a different powered backpack, plus one or two other little features, but I am intending making more distinctive diamond and gold kit when I get the chance. I just thought you'd be happier with these placeholders over the vanilla Minecraft versions. Anyways, hope you like:
Below are a reminder of the new wool, furnace, wood and glowstone textures I've been showing in my thread over the past few days. Many other textures on the terrain sheet have been edited and I apologise if any break your builds in anyway.
As the new 'balloon' wool is such a dramatic departure from the norm, I've provided a separate Glimmar's Steampunk download with nice smooth wool...still textured, but minus the stitching at the edges as per the old wool and much better 'seamless' tiling.
I'd have liked to have finished this off, but there's too much on it that relates to the new update by way of alternate piston, glowstone and wool stuff amongst other things. :smile.gif:
Don't forget The_Fool76 has made a new downloadable Texture Mix Machine here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/410471-texture-mix-machine-iv-alpha-01-release/
As soon as I get a chance, I will make my alternate texture sheets a lot easier to use with the above genius machine. Have a look at The_Fool's readme as it really is very simple to use once set up. Make endless compilations, but remember my alt textures are for personal use only, though if you want to upload your compilations here, that's ok...my textures or your own original work only...no mixing with other texture packs, thanks. :smile.gif:
New HD Ghast from GestankFaust
Yes...one day I will do my own...and the rest!! Until that day, Gestankfaust has provided a scary mechanical ghast for the Nether Steel Foundry. Thanks Faust. :smile.gif:

New Items and Extras

Apart from the new armor icons, the 'items' sheet is graced with a few other changes too... not least of all the new shears. If you didn't download earlier in my thread, you'll find new lapis, fixed fishing rod, new diamonds, new glowstone and added a bit to the wheat sheaf.
Since the last update I've been collecting all your offerings...big and small and sticking them in the 'Extras' folder. It might be rather disorganised, but at least everything is in one place...with your name on it. Check it out and see what's new. I've probably put some new things in too...just don't ask me to remember what they are!!! :sad.gif:
Holy crap glimmar, those textures are amazing. I always enjoy going through your extras file. Those iron doors look particularly good. I will have fun customizing this. :tongue.gif:
Haha, I found a good excuse to use the 'spoiler' command! :biggrin.gif:
Yeah man, great way to insert a bunch-o-pics in a single post and not make the page a bazillionandeleven meters long. I love it! Also is easier on those who are bandwidth challenged or those daring or desperate enough to surf from a mobile device. :unsure.gif:
Updates are Glimmar.. just grabbed the new set, about to go mess around and start retrofitting the city from the shots above, complete the vision I had before my map was reset.
Sky Reach appears in the background. My first 'abstract' structure, and the very first scraper I built in this location. It was in essence what became the catalyst for the other buildings you've already seen.
Some night shots, 'cuz ..well, I mean LOOK at it..
Thanks for all the kind...and funny (of the ha ha type) comments above. I'll have a more indepth look through things tomorrow, as I virtually worked through the night last night to get this out and I'm packing a humdinger(what's a humdinger?) of a cold. I'll have to put off playing with the piston and picking up on any probs 'till tomorrow. I'm shattered...Sorry folks. :sad.gif:
ps. I've just updated the OP now and I bet I've made a real mess of it! :dry.gif:
Once again, awesome work on everything. Your piston is awesome! Very very steampunkish. I also like all of the armors. The diamond one reminds be of this:
I have one of these on a shelf next to my computer. Not sure how or where I got it. It took plenty of time finding a picture of something when you have barely any idea what it is. Found out it was from a discontinued type of MegaBlocks called "Dragons". Guess you learn something new everyday! :tongue.gif:
I got a Mumble (voice) server up now...cause I'm like that. The first one was free...but wouldn't let anyone but me log in (go figure...free and all). I've sent PM's to some to get it up and going but may open it up (20 people max) if i don't hafta babysit
:tongue.gif:
If you'd like to join, and I know you somewhat, let me know and I'll pop the info to ya.
