Yeah, previous page has my interpretation of what is what. Please note, what I had said is only what I believe the textures correspond to, based on the video and by what makes the most sense to me. There may be some difference as to what is what. That said, it is nice that they aren't forcing the pistons to use the same texture as the furnaces/dispensers, even if they are the same on the vanilla version.
another similar engine-look would be boring.
Anyway, combining the pistons with some ticking redstonecirquit would make them very usefull parts for giant decorational machines. It'd really add on to the steampunkworld.
I wish the balloon for the mod was longer, because if it was, I would definitely make this into a skin! :smile.gif:
OMG!!
That's Glims machinery on my mobs!!
:biggrin.gif:
Did anyone else notice that the beds and cakes got a location "tweak"? Sorry if I didn't see this already...if so. Basically, the bottoms of the bed got moved down and separate from the rest. Just a repositioning in the current location. The two cake pieces were moved to the bottom of their location also.

Biopunk! Has no one modded whales in yet? I suppose too big! :sad.gif: Nice pic Croco!
Faust, I'd never have noticed that about the bed in a million years. Minecraft terrain editing is like playing 'spot the difference' Lol! Thanks for that. Unless Jeb made a mistake?!! I wonder why they felt the need to move it? :unsure.gif:
I feel sorry for my Steam Wolf though. He's looking distinctly confused...his little steam driven difference engines whirring away to make sense of his new environment. :biggrin.gif:
Sorry for I never took the time to comment on your pack Glimmar, well it's no wonder you're a professional artist and your culture in classical art shows up and is really refreshing. I'm honestly impressed by the degree of imagination you put in creating it and by all the details that enrich every texture. I've also had an eye to your Deviant art and the imagination and patience for details was definitely there too, I love your nature paintings !
There's just one thing that bugs with your pack, it's that most textures are way too dark. I mean, abnormally dark. While the wools are abnormally bright. But it's just about fiddling with the brightness and contrast sliders, something I could have done myself.
Anyway, keep it up and see you sir !

Fantastic Job with the Steampunk Textures. Me and My friends are Huge fans of this and it is our favorite Mod on our server!
I know you don't do mobs persay just textures, but I felt that this topic post (link in my signature) I had fits so well with what your doing. Alchemy and Animating Golems, The original Frankenstein goes hand in hand with the whole victorian steampunk outrageous science theme. Too bad I don't know how to mod or do textures!
Anyway, congrats on the excellent work :happy.gif:

Many thanks, Ovo. I very much appreciate your visit, because I believe you have a true appreciation for crafting original art, and it shows beautifully in your pack. :smile.gif:
I take your point with regard to the light levels in the game. :smile.gif: It was intentional from an early stage to be that way though, because I like the darker side of steampunk...Shelley, and the gaslit London of Jack the Ripper, Vampires and the spate of recent dark steampunk movies. I guess the work of China Mieville sums it up best of all, but somewhere along the line it got darker. I honestly think I see, or view things on my monitor differently than many others, and of course many of the most popular packs and even default Minecraft appear way too bright and cartoony to me. This makes it difficult for users of those packs to adjust to liking mine. :sad.gif:
It's a difficult balancing act now, for just as many users complain if I turn the light levels up as those visiting afresh who feel it's way too dark. And there never quite seems to be enough time to experiment in between. Lol! :biggrin.gif:
Have a really good summer, mate and hope you do find time to get some 'art' in...although I know what you are doing can really sap the energy by the end of the day. :smile.gif:

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, Wizaad. At this time, when I'm usually up all hours trying to finish stuff off for the update, the encouragement really is appreciated. :smile.gif:
Don't worry about the mobs, mate. I only put in my OP that working on mobs is not my cup of tea, because otherwise I get bombarded with comments asking why I haven't finished them yet. Lol! When I get round to it, I'm actually looking forward to doing the mobs, having just finished off the the armor for this next update (well the 'iron', with some quick edits for gold and diamond!).
Dear Glimmar,I just wanted to say that I love this texture pack :biggrin.gif: I first downloaded it a few months ago and it very quickly became my favourite pack. I had to come and tell you how much I appreciate all the time, effort and love that has gone into creating such wonderful textures. I know how much it means to some people to hear (or read) the two small words 'thank you'. So THANK YOU very, very much for doing such a great job!I'll stop being all mushy now :POne of your (many, I'm sure) adoring fans,Raven
Thanks, Raven. As I said above, your taking the time to say thanks is very much appreciated and does make it worth the effort, thankyou. I'm in the throws of a cold at the moment with a splitting headache, so doubly appreciate the comment...mushy or not! :smile.gif:
The update is coming soon folks. Just putting the finishing touches to the piston and having a play with it to make sure I've not slipped up somewhere. I've also just remembered I haven't done icons for the new armor either, so I'll try and get that done this evening.
Please let me know if there's anything I should take note of in this next update. Thanks all. :smile.gif:
Haha! It's been frustrating today. Lots of public sector strikes today in the UK, so my kids and my wife (who's a teacher) have all been at home. Lovely having them around, but not very conducive to quiet creativity! Thanks, aageon. I'm feeling the pressure. Lol. :biggrin.gif:
I've just been testing what I've done so far and I must say I love the piston sound! for Jeb and Notch for the sound alone and it's a lovely little shape to texture for.
@ Everyone: when you cut leaf blocks off the tree, what can you do with them? I thought I'd be able to make some nice hedges, but the block just fizzle away! :sad.gif:
I believe if you "place them" on a tree log, you should be able to make your own trees anywhere. Just like normal trees, the leaves should stay if attached to logs. Just a guess though...
This will help keep a smile on yer face...

So the only thing added were shears and pistons. Since you already have pistons it's pretty much an easy update for you, huh? Still I know you said that they were just a prototype, so if you do decide to upgrade, I know it will be fantastic; however, I am still waiting anxiously on the armor upgrades. ^^
This far i'v only liked, no loved, one texture pack. You sir, broke that in half and I now love this. I am usually not a fan of animals looking anything other than they should, but you sir. Are awesome for this. I love everything about this.
Hey...did anyone happen to see the "extra" they left in this update (like the "weeping obsidian" from last update)?
New mob - The Silverfish
I didn't see that. Hmm, maybe hes finally adding fish! I'm excited now!
I also checked out that pack. It looks awesome! Very creative use of textures from each pack. I'll have to give that mixer a try, I've only fiddled with a very early version of it.
(spoiler tags have nothing to do with new version. I just like them for keeping the page from exploding)
These are some of my first structures, from when I started playing. Most of this was actually built before I started using this texture pak. Even seeing it now clad in the pack is exciting. Just reinforces why I grabbed it in the first place.
Shortly after I first starting using the pack, our server reset the map, so I never really got to carry on building much after what you see here. I've since imported it to my single player saves...glad to have something to do when my regular server is down.
A giant steampunk whale blimp!

In other news, here's my attempt to make a pack

Curse PremiumYou're welcome. Thank you. :smile.gif:
@ No_44: Glad you agree. :smile.gif: Wow! You were quick starting the new pack. Like Faust I'll try to pop in as often as I can.
