I know I probably need to add something but exactly what? And when I add a mod like SDK gun mods, it seems to interfere with it and make the dirt blocks look like the gun icons and such. What do I do :ohmy.gif:
Looks like you haven't patched your game. I don't know why so many people miss out this step, it's all over the place. For any texture pack that is not 16x16, you must use the HD Texture Patcher for it to work properly.

Sorry, just started playing recently :biggrin.gif: Thanks for the help
First of the sneak peeks at what I've been working on for the next update. Armor for the sides of the body and the arms still to do, and of course an appropriate item icon.
Up next...a look at the new glowstone lantern and furnace. :smile.gif:

OMG That looks sooo awesome!!! I have been waiting for when more of the armor had a steampunk look to it :smile.gif: I was getting tired of wearing the leather armor 24/7 just cuz it was the only one re-textured
...first seen in 'The Forbidden Planet', one of the most incredible sci-fi films of all time (if you consider the technology available when the movie was made). So there's a little bit of Robby's good looks thrown in too, though more 1950's than Victorian. Hopefully the completed thing still has a Victorian feel to it. The armor may end up being swapped or edited around once I start on diamond and gold, but we'll see.
My iron armor comes with health warnings though. You might find people are excessively attracted to you if worn in public:
...mmm, I felt strangely attracted to myself :blink.gif:
here we see the armor starting to take shape in my workshop. Notice the extremes of hygiene texture pack artists are forced to endure during development!!
Dear god Glim, that iron armour.... IS AMAZING! :biggrin.gif:
I can't wait to sally forth in a suit of my very own!
Sorry I haven't posted in here recently too, I've been quite busy with exams... Bleghhhh...

Thanks mate. I do hope you're referring to my armor and not the popular guy with beachcombers on his arms!! :biggrin.gif:
Good luck with those exams! It's a busy time of year for a lot of you...can't say I'm not glad to have exam times long behind me. My own sons are going through it at the mo'...one with UK 'A' levels and the other GCSE's (secondary or 'highschool'). They've both acquired a zombie-like demeanor from persistent vegetative revision! :sad.gif:
Yeah I'm doing To Kill a Mocking Bird now... Exam Essay and Oral! AGGGHHHH!!! I wish I had a steam powered pen to help with my writing!
Haha! I shall get right on to it now. In the meantime you could try out the pen and gizmo's on my steampunk map. Those little vehicles are pretty good at regular essay writing, leaving you free to work on the oral side of things.
My eldest son has just got back from sitting the second part of his philosphy finals. Seems in reasonable spirits so far, with just English language to go on friday, then he's a free man until mid-october. OK for some. :biggrin.gif:
Forums are back online, I (finally) got my computer back after being in the shop for 2 weeks… and Notch is thinking of releasing 1.7 early, albeit as a smaller update. He tweeted earlier asking how many people wanted him to release it early with just the piston, since the "Adventure Update" stuff is nowhere near done. So far, he's getting about 90% saying "Release it now, give us pistons"… so he's gonna talk with Jens and come to some decision.
What this means in a nutshell: We may very well be getting an update sooner than expected. It won't be the full update that Notch wanted, but it will quell the masses. The only confirmed thing in the update will be the piston, although I wouldn't be surprised if they throw in the new lighting while they are at it. If they do release this, the BIG update won't be until 1.8… or possibly later.
Expect to hear the decision within the next few days.
Oh, forgot to mention, new armor looks great, and I like what you've done with the furnace. Glowstone is also rather good, although I wonder what it would look like in the Nether.

Thanks for that, ksheep.
It gives me a reason to wait for Notch's update and gives me a kick to finish off the iron armor.
I noticed the 'simg' command no longer seems to be recognised. Seems like I've got a lot more editing to do throughout my OP and thread. :dry.gif: Or is it just temporary after the forum upheaval?

Thanks guys! :smile.gif:
Wait 'till you see more pics of the glowstone in action as windows, particularly on ships, etc. Being in more of a grid pattern, it's designed to work better enmasse for some more creative esoteric use along with the trapdoor and other items like ladders, for a more 17th, 18th century kind of steampunk feel. Again, just trying to make it more multitasking and a little more 3-dimensional. I'm steering away from trying to make it look natural in the nether and concentrating on making it as useful as possible for construction...though it doesn't look out of place in the vast iron foundries of the nether!
Lots more taster pics to come that will hopefully persuade you to like it...and if not, I've also been working on another sheet of alternate textures with some more glowstones to choose from. :smile.gif:
"New improved lighting — day/night cycles will not require chunk updates. Lighting will be updated via a texture, whose coordinates are the block's sky light and block light levels."
Basically, he's revamping how the sun and moon light things, and giving torches a totally different feel. The night will have a blue-ish tinge, and the lanterns will give a warm yellow-ish glow.
Night shot here.
Another night shot here.
Day shot is here.
It probably won't make any difference in texture packs. Notch made the light from the sky a different engine (or something) then light from blocks. His tweets weren't that enlightening (pardon the pun).
Those are two of the images he posted on twitter.
*Edit* ninja'd, shouldn't have spent so much time getting the image tags to work.

Retired StaffCan't help but think of the Borg with that green eye piece....lol
(is this where the Borg got their start? :ohmy.gif:)

But I can't help having fond memories of Robby the Robot...

I'll post pics of more stuff later today if I get the chance. No more robots though...I promise. :smile.gif:

You'll see more examples of the these textures in use when I show you other new stuff.
Next up...a look at new Wool and Wood textures. :smile.gif:
