BRILLIANT!!(note I used two exlamation points)
Could you make this texture pack in 16 bit, my computer doesn't work well with 32 bit texture packs.
Thank you for your time
I'm about 50% done with the textures for the one I started. Hopefully I can tinker around more with this soon.

Thanks No_44 and ksheep, you both make me feel relatively normal again. I like both those ideas for things, I just don't know how interesting I can make them, but it's nice to know that others feel we can be a little more adventurous and imaginative with stuff. :smile.gif:
Maybe it's possible to turn that squid into a Nautilus-like submarine, with visible fuel-capsules on it's bowels. Perhaps it is possible to change the black bottle of ink into that very same capsule.
I might give that a try, in case you're too busy.
Ha ha! My work would be too weird for the likes of Microsoft! :biggrin.gif:
For various reasons it fills me with a little bit of sadness that Minecraft will end up on the xbox. :sad.gif:
Yea, even though I have an xbox, I can't help but to feel the same way... It's like Mojang just sold its soul or something... :mellow.gif:
I definitely won't be getting it on xbox though. No mod support and possibly no texture packs!
Not to mention how hard it is to play minecraft with an xbox controller (I tried on my computer, just to see what it would be like)

That idea has all sorts of potential about it and ties in the 'drop' beautifully. Visibly seeing on the squid the thing you eventually collect, is a stroke of genius!
Like everything else that still needs 'glimmaring', I'll do something eventually, but don't let my slowness put you off sharing something now. :smile.gif:

Here you go, Nautulus-squids.
As you can see on the image above and the template below, it's got two lighted windows as eyes and has a hatch on it's back. The fueltanks are on it's belly and it has a propellor to push it forward.
Nearly everything on the squid was copypasta from your other animals, or your terrain-sheet. Except for it's belly with the fueltanks
Below is an itemsheet with the new ink-tank item.
What do you think? Is it good enough to replace your other squid? Perhaps it needs a tad of glimmaring, but I'mma keep this one.
The port to X-Box really doesn't bug me. If anything I am somewhat optimistic about it. It's being handled by a separate team so maybe having to support and deal with that might make Notch clean up some of the code in the main game. From some of the stuff I've heard from the modders I've talked with who have poked around in the code, they might just be better off doing a re-write rather than a port.
In regards to some of the comments I've seen lately about the 'odd' designs for blocks. I was doing some playing around with beds and I have to say, the bed texture works pretty well if you use beds as walkways. Put a pair of iron blocks on either side with 'cables' running to the ceiling (fences) and it does a nice catwalk. The only real downside is that the bottom texture for beds is the wood plank and the edges go down past the bottom. So this is best used above lava vats and the like where you aren't going to be looking up from below. (either that or just trim the edges a bit yourself and live with the wood when looking up.)

Tis far better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit.
For everyone complaining about the Xbox port, I've looked into it and it seems that:
A.) A separate team will be working on it.
B.) It will not be a direct port. It will have a different set of features (similar to the mobile version)
C.) Notch and Jeb WILL still be focusing mainly on the PC version, only helping with the other teams for design purposes
I'm not sure if they will implement texture packs and/or mods (same with the mobile version), but if they did, it would probably be a totally different texture sheet layout.
EDIT: Notch said on his twitter that mods will be unavailable on the Xbox version. No word on TPs yet.

I personally think its good for it to be on xbox cause I know many people who dont have a comp or only have a really old one. So putting it on xbox is presenting minecraft to people who would have never heard of it. Also I'm hoping Notch will setup up a way to load your texture pack on the website and then let you download it on xbox
You can add it yourself, just replace the squid.png and the items.png with the ones I posted. I took his latest items.png, the one where he replaced lapis-bottles with normal lapis. Then came the discussion wether or not ink would need to be replaced just like lapis, to wich one answered that it's not weird of mechanical squids to drop bottles of black stuff. The squids, however, didn't really look all too mechanical, nor did the bottles really look like they could be picked from a mechanical wreck. So I decided to change the older squid into this mechanical mini-sub.
I wonder though, would they be controlled by gnomes from the inside? Or are they just armoured/mechanicly-enchanced squids?
Also, how do you like the Nautulus itsself?
It's 7 meter broad and 32 meters long, as described in the book, and has a bookshelf, bunkbeds, a kitchen and an engine-room. As it is, it's stranded on shallow waters now.
Remember...there's already a squid that could drop the afore mentioned ink tanks
:tongue.gif:
Yeah, but it doesn't seem to make sense that those, seemingly high-tech, creations would drop something as primitive as an inktank. Also, mine show the items they drop as being stuck unto their bellies before you kill 'em.
Anyway, the ones I made fit better with, for example, the creeper and the duck textures from Glimmar's pack, or with the average steampunk-submarine. Don't get me wrong, I think that mechanical sea-creatures should look rusty, and mechanical.
I think I'll add the cow from your Lovecraftpack though : D
Yer right...mine really should drop redstone :biggrin.gif:
It'd be awesome if someone could make a mod so that both squids would swim around, and yours'd drop redstone and mine'd drop coal : D
But in that case, we'd still need normal squids for the ink.
They seem not to mind for games like Portal 2 (online multiplayer restricted to other Xbox consoles).
However, since the modding community of Minecraft is so large, it is a probability.

Thank you Glimmar...I feel the same way
As far as I can gather, it's unlikely it will be discontinued for the PC.

Here's a picture of the fueltank in the inventory, and the squids in daylight

Perhaps it's an idea to connect your station to the building, a bit like the Victorian station of Antwerp.
