notch added a fishingrod fix that included a new icon in items.png
Thanks, d95. I got your first post warning me about the fishing rod and it's all done, but I've also been working on fixing some other things, before releasing an updated pack. Hang on a minute though, why don't I just upload the items sheet for you all. It's got some new edits on it: fixed fishing rod, changed wheat, new diamond (jewels), changed redstone, new glowstone, new lapis rocks and alternative diamonds. Here goes:
Just copy to your desktop, rename to 'items' and drop it into the 'gui' folder in my pack to replace what's there.
I'm still currently tinkering with the terrain.png...when I should be working on armor, mobs or guis. Oh well, I'm currently lacking motivation and up to my neck in real live 'work' at the mo', so you'll just have to bear with me this week...I'll only be popping in briefly.
Loving the new Lapis Lazuli. I changed the one for the Steamcraft pack because I felt it didn't feel right to have a bottle pop out of an ore rock, but this is great!

Thanks, Proloe. :smile.gif:
The trouble is I'd never actually found any lapis in the 'wild' before and when I did for the first time this weekend, it didn't seem right to me too! It felt more like I'd opened a cupboard and a lot of lapis jars fell out! Lol! :biggrin.gif:
It could be argued the same for the squid ink sac, but I can't quite bring myself to storing smelly squid organs, or other biodegradable items or powders in anything other than jars...far too messy for a Victorian Steampunk theme! :blink.gif:
Perhaps when I've had chance to do my own gui's, I can make the individual inventories have boxes that look like items are properly sealed in. I'll have to think about that one a bit more.
I was thinking the same as you Glimm. When I did all jars for dyes it just looked funny a lot of the time. I just haven't gone back in and changed them yet

I think a lot of it harks back to my childhood where I used to store alsorts (nothing too weird mind!) in jars, mixing potions and the like. I've gone down in the world now, from my wizarding ways, and potion making to simple screws and nails and the like! Lol!
When I did my jars I'd also been looking at the 'shelf' mod and fancied the idea of rows and rows of jars on shelves in my dye making factory! It just felt more 'lab-like' too.

What's weird of mechanical squids dropping bottles of black liquid? Surely they have to store their oil in tanks, don't they? And surely unused tanks are securely locked, for if they weren't, they'd be leaking black liquid.
On the topic of jars and whatnot to hold powders, how about something for the redstone. Instead of carrying around a pile of redstone dust, have instead small leather pouches or something similar?
This is a kinda cool texture pack but one thing always comes to mind when I decide to use it....Why does the cake look like some kind of clockwork pile. Ok I get the chickens are clockwork, which lay clockwork eggs but the cake is still 90% organic by the recipe, so just wondering. (just thinking you might as well go full bore and make all the edibile either clockwork or make them like MRE's, rations or some thing to that respect.

Thanks No_44 and ksheep, you both make me feel relatively normal again. I like both those ideas for things, I just don't know how interesting I can make them, but it's nice to know that others feel we can be a little more adventurous and imaginative with stuff. :smile.gif:
im really happy now! check this out: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/270332-166train-and-zeppelin-mod112/my steampunk world s going to get steamed! theres steam lokomotives and a drill and trackbuilder in one machine!im going to make a big world with this texturepack and the mod.could you make a texture for one of these trains glimmar(if you have time left)
I keep my eye on that mod all the time. There's nothing I'd like to texture for more, but I just don't have the time to devote to it, especially when there's so much to do here, I haven't even tried it out either. :sad.gif:
I didn't much like the way the engines, etc behaved around curved tracks. At this stage I prefer the simple minecart movement, as basic as it is. I'd appreciate it if you'd keep me posted and let me know how it goes.
I love the odd screenshot mate, don't worry. :smile.gif: I love your artifical lake and waterway construction work. Oh I wish I had time to dive into some big project. :smile.gif:

I understand about the full bore thing. I'm not sure I want to commit fully to that because I still want the world to look natural. For me it's the appearance of things that's all important. I love the idea of having as many useful props as I can squeeze into the game. I'm largely a builder rather than a role-player. So things I make don't necessarily have to have a logical Minecraft function.
Not sure if you read my ramblings on page 282, but here's an extract that might answer your question:
"So if something in Glimmar's Steampunk looks a little weird and you find yourself asking what on earth was this guy 'on' when he decided on this or that for a texture, try instead to ask yourself what other uses you can put things like pumpkins, beds, musicplayers, cakes in their 'normal' traditional form when compared to my more gadgety alternatives. In most other texture packs a cake can only be a cake, a bed can only be a bed, etc.
My steampunk bed can be: a time machine for jumping forwards in time, a medical contraption, a torture device, a piece of equipment for launching torpedoes on a Steampunk battleship, a bed for creating a Frankenstein creature with redstone wires radiating out from it and anything else you care to invent with your imagination. One thing for sure...it's not supposed to look comfortable like some have suggested!! How often do you lounge around in bed in Minecraft for goodness sake!!! I want to create things for my world that look interesting, ambiguous, and using your imagination, are as adaptable as possible.
My Steampunk cake can be used as a mock music player, controls on the bridge of a Steampunk vessel, a mechanical looking microwave machine, a weird dna testing machine in a mad scientist's laboratory, etc, etc. Normally a cake is a cake...is a cake. Playing on peaceful mostly, I don't really have a lot of use for an edible cake, but as a prop it has infinite uses.
Changing things the way I have, like most of my decisions about anything in my pack is to make a limited number of objects more useful, more multifuctional in design for an industrial fantasy world. Without necessarily having to use a single mod"
Nothing is finished in this pack, and at my rate of limited time it may never be what I would call 'finished', so everything is in a state of continuous transition, which is probably not a bad thing.
Now after 3 pages of questions about my weird decisions I definately need to put my 'Minecraft Steampunk Theories' up in my OP.
So has anyone else heard that Minecraft is going Xbox360 exclusive? What will that do for texture packs? No wonder Notch has been slow to fix bugs...he's busy signing multi-million dollar deals with the giant white rhino! LOL good for him.
Sorry off topic, but figured while Glimmar was away...ssshh...don't tell him. :dry.gif:

Tsk tsk tsk. The word 'exclusive' was never any part of that and it couldn't be any part of it anyway. It would be impossible to shove that particular cat back in the bag as it were. Besides he already tweeted that they are still doing the PC and mobile versions.
As for texture packs, eh consoles have HDs and network connections. Just probably need to setup some kind of central service for distributing packs that we would then submit ours to. (Course that probably means only 16x packs would be supported for the console version if Mojang holds true to form, oh well, poor them.)
For some reason I have the texture pack as a .zip file in the texturepacks folder of my minecraft game, and it shows up on the texture pack selection screen, but when selected everything appears as just the original minecraft textures. help?
BRILLIANT!!(note I used two exlamation points)
Could you make this texture pack in 16 bit, my computer doesn't work well with 32 bit texture packs.
Thank you for your time
Please don't call it 16 bit and 32 bit. They aren't. Bittages have little to do with resolution. They are 16x and 32x, based on the resolution, not the bittage. Sorry, I'm a little OCD when it comes to stuff like this.

No citation needed since I didn't know if the rumor was true and I meant exclusive as in Xbox360 will be the only console platform to have Minecraft.

As for the texture packs...you may be right.
Ah well yes, sorry when I think exclusive I think across all platforms not just in the console world. (Since consoles these days tend to just be stripped down PCs with fixed hardware and funky controllers.) Kind of wonder how they are going to pull that off because I wasn't aware that any of the consoles supported Java natively unless they are just going to be converting it to something else.
Of course the other fun bit about that is as it stands there will be NO mod support for a console version. Not unless mojang finally decides to add a real built in mod interface. Here is hoping that's finally the thing that gets them moving on that. (I can't imagine the MS folks would like the idea that the console version would be so much more limited than the PC one.)

I think he was talking about the error that occurs when you don't patch Minecraft for HD textures.
I really wish people would read instructions.
