I love this texture pack so much(and my clan too) that I suggested everyone who plays on our server use it, and one person took it upon himself to make a big steampunk spawn building for us.
Many thanks, Lakart. Glad you and others are getting some use out of it. When you've got something impressive to show us drop off a pic or two for inspiration. :smile.gif:

If someone could explain to me how to create a texture pack from scratch. I would love you forever. The whole mix pack scene is wearing on me. I do enjoy mashing textures together and giving credit and such. But I really want to make something my self. The artists on here really inspire me because they are so connected to their posts. I write one comment and get a response very quickly. :biggrin.gif: Especially 32x32 and up.
It sounds like you already know enough to start putting together your own pack. Think of a theme or style that you would like to craft, and begin with the terrain.png file that you've already got experience with. A square at a time until you're happy with the look of everything. How the world looks is the most important thing. Everything else will follow on from that. The rest of the pack is trial and error until you understand what everything does. Look at everyone else's packs and see what they've changed from the original. :smile.gif: Think about joining the Texture Artist's Guild: here and you'll get a lot more advice and support off other artists.
Good luck and well done for wanting to do something original. :smile.gif:

As I'm sure most people are aware, the new WoM client allows for a texture pack to be installed.
I have taken the liberty of converting this pack to a version acceptable to WoM.
I used the Glowstone texture for the Sponge texture, created 2 new Cloth textures (Turquoise and Deep Blue) and used the Diamond Block texture, recoloured, for the Iron Block.
That sounds interesting, Robotnick2, I'm not really aware of the WoM server system, have used the standard and the Bukkit system, but I'm not a great user of multiplayer. I'd be grateful if you didn't re-distribute my pack outside of the Minecraft Forums though. You can do anything you want to my pack for personal use, but you mustn't re-distribute it to others without my permission. Thanks. :smile.gif:
I don't mind you sharing your conversion within my thread for others to use, or perhaps with those on your server for consistency, I would still consider that as private use, but I would be grateful if you didn't make it a public download from another website like WoM. Rather, could you redirect anyone who wishes to use the conversion back to this thread, then it's clear who the pack belongs to. Thanks again, mate. :smile.gif:
Though it's difficult to enforce these days, I do have copyright on my artwork and it is shared on these forums for personal use only.
@ HeadHunter: I'm more than happy for you to digress in my thread anytime, mate.
With the complete lack of any immediate intervention by admin in this section, and an apparent shortage of moderators, I'd vote you immediately into position, and whether you felt you might be too strict by Minecraft Forum standards, for a period of time it's probably whats needed, because it's utter chaos at the moment!
@ gvzbgul: I agree with all your points, gvzbgul and didn't know about being able to expand the pig saddle, so thanks for that. However, all of those things I've still to turn my attention to. Most of the mobs are kind donations from users of my pack, so only placeholders at the moment...great placeholders in most cases, but probably not how I will do things when I get round to it. I've begun the armor (so little time now, hence very slow in updating/finishing) with a new character on page 173 as a start and the extra layer around the head there was very useful for giving it a slightly more rounded appearance. I'm looking forward to taking advantage of this second layer with the zombie at least, as per your advice. Thanks mate! :smile.gif:

Can i get this in 64x plz 32x makes my eye´s bleed
What?
You go to a thread which specifically says "[32x]" and you're asking for a 64x version?
A little dumb isn't it?
Haha! I get asked from time to time, and don't really mind, as it gives me chance to extol the virtues of building 32x style in a blocky world. The problem is that once you move up to a higher resolution and get used to that level of detail, I imagine it's tricky to go back down again.
I kind of have to agree that for this theme of curving pipes and valves etc., up close, it would be nicer to have more pixels to mess about with, but in Minecraft we inhabit a blocky world and, at least for me, 32x just works better for the mid and distant viewing of mega-projects, which is what inspires me.
Quote from gvzbgul »
You could resize everything and smooth it out a little yourself?
Yep! There's that as well.
I've been tempted to see what a few textures would look like blown up and re-edited, then I remind myself, you've got to finish other things off first before going off messing again. I was very proud to be associated with things like the 'airship' mod and the 'paddle steamer' and producing lots of alternative things (that helps with the motivation), but being the world's slowest at actually completing an entire pack, must be ever so slightly annoying for everyone who still uses it. Nobody's fault but mine, Oh and Notch's of course for throwing out so many updates. Lol!

how can i delete the texture pack by accented i put it in my jar..
Delete the .jar file and redownload it. You won't be able to delete it from inside your Minecraft.jar without horribly damaging it otherwise.
but i have other mods installed...
do you have the default files for the default texture pack...
I don't think anyone is allowed to redistribute those. :sad.gif:
I can understand the frustration if it's taken a while to find and successfully install all your favourite mods, but re-installing Minecraft is probably the best way of making sure any future mods will work properly too.
I usually keep all my favourite mods (not many because I just don't get much time to play and paint) to hand in case I need to re-install Minecraft.

Absolutely :tongue.gif: I didn't intend to distribute it anyway, I just thought you might like to know.
One the copyright note, I completely agree. I made a pack once (a while back!) and a quick google search turned up 75 results. And it wasn't even very good! Why people copy other peoples work is a mystery to me...
Thanks, mate. :smile.gif:
I'm grateful for you taking the time and posting it here, I'm sure others will find it useful too. I'll have to have another look at WoM and see how your conversion works with it. Occasionally my son persuades me to join forces with him on some project or other, or he will help me on my world. So it might be interesting to see how it compares with the Bukkit system which is what we're familiar with.

Includes the new hi-res Steampunk/Victorian char.png file for those who didn't edit it in themselves recently
plus: Some little fixes and lighting and saturation edits.
plus: The 'Extras' download has been updated with some new stuff.
plus: The OP has been extensively edited, cutting out the old and confused (sounds like me!) and bringing some new pics in. Thank you to all those whose pics I've included, for your awesome constructions and imagination.
My 'alternative wools' terrain.png file is up there too, for those who want to do a little more with the wool by way of industrial/architectural materials.
Have you ever considered adding textures to work with IndustrialCraft?
Although not strictly steampunk, with a bit of imagination it works perfectly, and I'd love to use both on my private server :smile.gif:
I absolutely agree with you, it would be an excellent thing to steampunkify...but with so many things still to finish to my satisfaction in my own pack here and so little time, it'll have to wait I'm afraid. I don't even get a chance these days to try any mods out...woe is me! :sad.gif:
In updating my OP just now, I've already put in this notice:
There are so many mods I would love to support for users of this texture pack, but I have to be realistic and admit I just don't have the time. If anyone would like to apply any of my textures to any applicable mods, just give me a shout first.
Sorry, Cathartidae, I'm seriously disappointed along with you, because I'd love to use and work on that mod.

I don't know if you saw my reply to tastyfreddytg12, d95, but this is what I said and probably the only advice I could give to you:
"It sounds like you already know enough to start putting together your own pack. I think it's a lot easier once you think of a theme and then use it to help you look for appropriate images through Google for inspiration for textures, etc. Then just a lot of back and forth between Minecraft and your editing to see what works...that's the painstaking part I find.
I've yet to see anyone do an Aztec or Inca theme, that I'm aware of, which I'd personally love to see. In my opinion their architecture would lend itself better than most to MInecraft, with their great 'step' pyramids, etc.
Well, looks like I just missed out in getting some more picture opportunities for the OP. :tongue.gif:
Almost finished with making the second of the 4 corner domes, and the main dome is about half done now. Decided to post a day and night shot from the side, showing the domes from a slightly different angle. Enjoy!
Also, it appears that the friend of mine who is running this Minecraft server has decided that he's going to retire the map that this is on, and start afresh with a new map next week. He will be distributing the map to everyone who played on it (small group, just some friends on campus), but he doesn't mind if I hand it out to others (he just doesn't see the need to do so himself). So… if anyone wants a copy of the map that has this (half-built) city, my Nautilus, Tiger Moth, giant gears, upside down pyramid, and more (along with some rather epic works by the other inhabitants of the server), feel free to send a PM my way and I'll see what I can do.

Yes, I plan on continuing this after it's taken down. I may even go crazy and host it myself, if I have the time.
Need some ideas of what to do with the city/fort once I start on the interior. Already got a mine and rail station (may make it a bit bigger tho), and I'm planing on adding a store and an airship terminal. Any other ideas?

I hoped it might come in handy, but I put that list I compiled of 'things to build in a steampunk world' in the OP. It's tucked away down at the bottom though. There might be something there to work from or jog your inspiration. If you can think of anything else, and you want to share it, I plan on updating the list over time. :smile.gif:

Oh and Glimmar, great work on the steampunk character! He looks awesome and suits the pack very, very well!

The OP is also a lot cleaner and easier to navigate now. (Funny how cleaning up manages to follow you into the virtual world as well. You can't escape it! :tongue.gif:)
Thanks for the mention too!
I'M SO SAD! I can't seem to get this, my FAVORITE texture so far, to work with toomanyitems! It will work before MCpatcher, but not after, like I get a black screen opening my inventory, and if I use MC patcher first and then install TMI over the top, I get a black screen before the game even loads. If anyone had this same problem and was able to fix it, that would be GREAT!

A Nikon man! Good to know I'm not the only one who uses those (although mine's a D50, a little bit older than yours). And I don't know what you're talking about with Norway not being covered in snow. When I went there a couple years ago, the entire place was covered in snow. Granted, this was in January… and it was the first snow they had all season (straight rain for over a month that ended the day before we got there). Great place, Norway. Not as cold as one might expect in the winter, just a few degrees below freezing… until we rounded Nordkapp. Got REALLY cold after that.
Anyway, good luck with your texture pack. Might I suggest that you make sure that the various blocks tile well before uploading it. I've noticed a couple Realistic Texture Packsâ„¢ that, while the look good (ie. taken straight from photos), the edges don't always line up quite right, leaving jarring lines on the edges.
I've got a problem with the Texture pack- Netherrack looks like a blue block with flowing lines, gold blocks have the top right corner missing, and is replaced with fire, and Brick Blocks are a quarter fire, a quarter portal, and 1 half brick.

I've just gone and put a reference to more of your pics being here on pg. 175 in the OP. I like that angle though in the pic I chose, because it shows off your railway really well. :smile.gif:

Curse PremiumIM GOING TO MKE A 256x256 texturepak by using my nikon D90
nikon D90 is a very good camera!
edit: im going to this place so i can make the sand textures!
this place is only 3 km away from where i live and this is in NORWAY! (some of you may say: "what? thats not in norway! norway is a cold and snowfilled place" hehe.)

Curse PremiumI hoped it might come in handy, but I put that list I compiled of 'things to build in a steampunk world' in the OP. It's tucked away down at the bottom though. There might be something there to work from or jog your inspiration. If you can think of anything else, and you want to share it, I plan on updating the list over time. :smile.gif:

Curse Premium.......
I live in Australia (Melbourne to be precise) and I need to travel further than either of you to get a GOOD beach...
(the one right in Melbourne isn't very good, well, at least not by Australian standards... :tongue.gif:)
Oh and Glimmar, great work on the steampunk character! He looks awesome and suits the pack very, very well!
I especially love the mustache!
The OP is also a lot cleaner and easier to navigate now. (Funny how cleaning up manages to follow you into the virtual world as well. You can't escape it! :tongue.gif:)
Thanks for the mention too!
