High-res charskins always look so creepy :ohmy.gif:
But good job, it looks really good, and it looks like you put a lot of effort into that one. Keep doing what youre doing, Glimmar!

Thanks Mikejones. :smile.gif:
Haha! I have to agree with you about the high-res and creepiness! Whichever way you illustrate them, either with a pleasant expression or other, they will always have that doll-like creepiness that you just don't get with more pixelated characters. Bearing in mind the slightly dark aspect of some forms of Steampunk it's probably acceptable with this theme. I was pleased with the way the character looked against the steamwolf in third person view. :smile.gif:
My main reason for finally deciding on 64x64 size, is that I think I would get too frustrated trying to engineer something worthy for the different sets of armor, given the gadgetiness of the theme. However, my heart is still set on 32x32 for the terrain elements, and in any event, I just wouldn't have the time now to change. Occasionally I've thought about changing one or two textures to see what they might look like at 64x64, but as yet I haven't given in to the temptation.

Wow that character skin looks great! Any chance you'd create an alternative female ?
...preferably one that doesn't have red hair.
Many thanks, Banishga. :smile.gif:
Ha! I think you remember me mentioning I wanted to do a female version with red hair some time ago. Lol!
Yes, I'd like to try making an alternative female version and the hair color probably wouldn't be too difficult to change to a variety of shades once the initial character was created.
Just keep giving me a gentle prod from time to time!
I'll continue with the armour though while I've still got some ideas in my head and hope that any female character i create will fit the armour too. :smile.gif:

Well, one thing that drives me away from higher resolutions than 32x is that when you are far away, they look pretty realistic, but when you get close, you will be negatively surprised by the pixels. With 32x its still pixel-y enough to notice it from far away, so it wont be an immersionbreaker.
Hey! Just checking in, I started to feel sorta creepy just sitting here watching this thread silently for a while. So anyways, I was wondering if you have tried this texture mixer Glimmar, its the one in the JohnSmith pack: http://red-sheep.de/games/minecraft/JohnSmith%20Customizer.xhtml
I think this would be great for Glimmars pack, for all those who can't or don't know how to edit textures. For example:
Wool
- Original wool
- Building Details Wool
- Carpet Wool
- etc.
You wouldn't even have to pay for a website, you could just use a free web service or something like that. Well, I just thought I'd run that by you. Keep up the amazing work!
I'm using the same thing for my Vana'diel pack. It's not that hard to setup, even if you don't know how to code. I use this site to host my version of flying sheep's customizer.

Glimmar's pack is already on TheFool76's texture mixer, found here. In my opinion, TheFool's mixer is slightly better, as it allows for much more customization, as well as allowing mixing from several different packs. NOTE: He hasn't updated it with the 1.5 textures yet, but he's hoping to do so in the next few weeks.

I forgot all about that! Yes I would definitely recommend this one even more!

I knew there was something I had forgotten to put on my to-do list.
I've uploaded v2.3 of the steampunk pack. I also left 2.2 up as it contains several alt textures for the rails not found in 2.3's terrain.png. (I hope this is ok Glimmar?)

No probs. mate, except there's a more up-to-date terrain.png on page 171, which fixes a few little glitches (missing pixel on the cactus) + lighting and saturation problems that had been bugging me for a while.
I'll have to get round to highlighting a link to your Texture Mixer Machine near my alt textures now.
Also bearing in mind the issue currently raging in doku's 'poll to disallow remix packs' at the top of the texture pack section, is there any chance of having a clear notice to say my textures are for 'personal use only' and not to be reuploaded as a mixpack or redistributed, unless it's in my thread with just my alternative textures and permission(?). I feel I will only be adding to the problem on the Texture Pack Section if folk start offering remixes of my textures . I'm in support of doku's proposal you see. Hope something can be done, though I've put it across rather vaguely, sorry. :smile.gif:
i like the skin,but is it 32x32 or 64x64?(looks like 64x64)
It's 64x64 or 256x128 pixels.
Here's an improved version with a slightly rounded head! :smile.gif:
Not be offensive, but that skin is freakin' creepy Glimmar! I mean it's so...it's so......it's so.........real looking!
I mean it's awesome skin and very detailed...just freaky real looking and then the head though real looking is square like a good minecraftian citizen.
I was playing on my friends game the other day because he was signed in and asleep, and after collecting like 20 stacks of clay right off the bat because I spawned on it, I made a workbench, :Furnace:, some and started to make bricks, how ever when I made the brick blocks ( ) for building they were strange, they had a corner that was a mix of in two corners diagonal from each other, then a in the bottom right, and a swirling portal on the top left on each side of the six sides and even on the small version, Is there a glitch with the texture pack that dose this?
This is the only thing I have noticed glitching out, other wise great pack!
Use the HD Patcher. That'll fix that problem (and a similar problem with gold blocks), as well as fix the compass and watch and a few other things.
I tried that and still getting the same issue, maybe I should have him reinstall the client?

Hope you still like it, Pipe. :smile.gif:
I put a lot of effort into it, simply because it's so key to getting the rest of the armor right...when i get the time! Lol! The idea was to create a slightly weather worn and fraught, but very capable 19th century gentleman scientist who has had to survive and build in a hostile world he suddenly awakes in. Somewhat inspired by 'the Time Traveller' in H.G.Wells' 'The Time Machine'.

Now, goodnight everyone.
Lol! I get like that. Working during the day then at night isn't the best thing for your natural body clock. Nice work Tlos, may I include this update in the 'extras' folder when I update it? In any event many thanks for sharing here. :smile.gif:

Clearly something has gone wrong either in installing the new beta MC Patcher by kahr or your installation of Minecraft. My pack is no different (other than by theme) than the multitude of other HD packs in this section of the forum. All HD packs, 32x32 and above, need kahr's new beta MC Patcher (stickied at the top of the Texture Pack Section). Re-installing the client software, as you say, is probably a good start, but make sure you're not using an old version of the patcher. If you're using xau's MC Patcher programme, it won't work on Minecraft post beta 1.5.
Hope you get it fixed. :smile.gif:

by the way, you should try making textures for Flan's plane mod, he was also trusted with SDK's mods, just thought you should give it a shot.
