Awesome...I got the new items and will be checking out the pack. You really should post it in a thread somewhere so I can bookmark it
:biggrin.gif:
I would make a thread for it but like I said, it's in really heavy alpha (prealpha even). It's not quite enough (in terms of quality and quantity) to warrant a thread that would do naught but clutter up the already fast moving forums. Also, since I discovered that new HD Patcher, I've been near constantly switching between Glimmar's pack, your Mythos pack, and my own work-in-progress jumble of pixels.
I was doing my thinking, and was figuring the Pack I'm planning on creating is more of a "Expansion Pack" and a compliment to Glimmar's steampunk pack (As Dieselpunk is the next era in the -Punk genres). This may be a silly question as this is a game, and in no way is realistic, but I'll ask it anyway:
What are the anamotrons made of? Brass? Copper? I was figuring maybe since Dieselpunk is the way to go for my Pack, I'd just change a bunch of the equipment and wolf basics down, and leave the horrid horrid creatures of the night alone in the same design... albeit a bit "aged", rusting away, showing signs of decay from the bygone era of steam in this new Diesel world. Once again, I will immediately be linking back to this incredible pack, but as I said, just a thought that crossed my mind about the texture pack I'm making being more of an expansion pack sorta thing.
Well, when I get round to finishing up on the mobs and doing my own versions of the evil anamatrons, as you nicely put it, they would be mostly brassy, steamy and coggy, like the steamwolf, but with some variety, as steampunk in my eyes is a kind of 'Victorian tech stuck in the future' genre, but with alchemical/mechanical overtones to it!
And on that note, to get me back into the mood of texturing and start me on some steampunk armor perhaps, I've made some new terrain.png files. :smile.gif:
Here's the latest terrain.png edit I've been working on that fixes and tweeks some things, including the little missing pixel on the cactus, darkening the Wild Grass flowers and iron block and de-saturating the ripened wheat. Just rename to 'terrain' and drop into my texture pack zip replacing the terrain.png file there:
And for those who dread the idea of using a graphics editor and want to make different use of the wool and have access to more building materials from my own collection of alternate textures (without resorting to editing stuff in! Lol) such as metal, brick, glass and tiles, providing you can manufacture sufficient dye and shear enough sheep, here's an alternative 'wool' terrain file that I mostly use in my world:
Just rename to 'terrain' and drop it into my texture pack zip replacing the standard terrain.png file. If you don't like the changes, just download the standard terrain.png file above this image, rename to 'terrain' again and drop back into my texture pack zip.
[edit] Some of the wool replacement textures, although picked from my alternate textures collection, have had extensive further tweeking for the purposes of better tiling as in the case of the bricks/cobble and mossycobble/bricks. The black iron girder block is a rusty variation of the standard iron block, but much easier to acquire for bridge building, etc. than normal iron as it is based on black wool. Being slightly rusty it allows you to remember where you built with wool rather than real iron incase you're using fire, especially as we live in an age of lightning now!
I was more interested in seeing how you like the way your alts are being used. As sandstone, it looks amazing to me. I'm not sure what the textures were originally made for though. And that rusty grate type block turns out great contrasting metal block.
:biggrin.gif:
*Edit - LMAO at the small text I didn't see at first.

Lol! I hope you two don't think I'm taking offense. Seriously, you've both given massive support over the months I've been on this forum and you'd have to do something pretty drastic to cause offence.
My worry is that I will cause more and more offence as I replace things I've been kindly loaned with my own stuff as it gets finished. I've always tried to be honest and say my objective is to finish everything off myself. Though at my speed, what chance is there of that happening before Notch washes his hands of Minecraft forever! :sad.gif:
That rusty grate texture of mine does look way better than I was expecting it would. I wish I'd included it my alt. terrain file now. Choices, choices!

Thanks, I will use that until I get a feeling for what blocks i dont like and stuff.
No! Use mine, Mikejones, it's way better than Gestankfaust's variation on my textures. Seriously though, there are some outdated textures on there, including the missing pixel on the cactus, lol!

I think I will, but which terrain.png do you mean? The one straight out of the first downloadlink? Im confused :ohmy.gif:

Lol! See what your doing Gestankfaust, your confusing my customers.
Mike, assuming you've downloaded my texture 'pack' from page 1 of my thread, have a look on page 171 for the very latest edits I've made to the terrain.png file. The first one is the most current 'standard' terrain edit and the second image is what I personally use that alters the wool textures to what I consider to be more useful building materials. Instructions for using those 'terrain' files is in the post on page 171.
Okay, thanks! I think I will use the one with the normal Wool first :biggrin.gif:
Haha! It feels like I'm running a taylors shop! rofl!
Don't feel pressured Mike, there are other terrain.png files in the 'extras' download file as well, but unfortunately they are pre-1.5_1 so would need the latest edits splicing in. The folks who did those may update their favourite mixes sometime like Gestank did above. :smile.gif:

Sorry for all the confusion. :biggrin.gif:
Well normally i dont have problems with texturepacks, I am experienced with editing textures and stuff, but when I see something with so many variations I cant help but think I miss the intended 'experience' of the pack by using something custom first, and most of the time the creator of the pack and longtime-users know that experience best.

Curse PremiumMany thanks, Zerokanu. :smile.gif:
Stop nicking my spam!
No, you two can spam all you like round here, being the honorary members that you are. :smile.gif:
Even though you may be defecting to Cthulhu (
Gestankfaust, that Chthulhu build is amazing! (only the bits with my textures in though! Haha!)

I'd be happy if you would. I'm not going to defect entirely, I'll be posting new additions in both threads.
say, is the 'default' glimmars, your favorite set of textures? Because i really cant decide what to use yet

Retired StaffI been using this pack for a while (since..last October?). I actually had a bunch altered, but now it's mostly his current defaults.
This is the one I use:
