@Gestankfaust- I'd be happy to help out, I only need to get back into the feel of creating 32x32, as I was working in 16x16 there for a while. That, and I need free time. Luckily, finals start soon, so I should have much more time after that, save for on weekends.
Also, here's something that I bet you wouldn't expect from me at the moment (or maybe you did expect it, I wouldn't know), new items!
- A new pick, iron at that. - Yet another sword.
Both were made in a new (to me) way I've been testing out, and I think I may like it, if only a little.
Here is a new item sheet, starting fresh, these as starters. (It's more compact as well) -
Very nice indeed Tlos!
I will add those soon. btw...I mentioned Mythos, but I'm actually using the same item.png for both packs I have released. Try and update both soon. You should stop by and say hi so people in those threads know the awesome Tlos better. Oh..and I still check the Dropbox for updates. So remember that for updates...

Just a note here though...
I won't hesitate to come down on people who jump the gun either. I have seen at least two threads today where people automatically ask "did you get permission" about using other creator's work. It has been a long time standing rule that if you give credit from the get go, you can post a mix pack. Whether the new (and they are new) rules differ or not, it has gone on since I have been on here. Mixcraft would never be otherwise.
So we need patience, and perspective when we go into "thiefbuster mode".
Some are not trying to gain anything, just want to show what they've done. So treat each as an individual and don't jump the gun please.
(sorry Glimm...your thread has the most people who care...so post this here :biggrin.gif:)

I agree wholeheartedly. We don't do anyone any favors if we turn this into a "witch hunt", and it does not help to solidify the community or our reputation.
I think that the benefit of the doubt should be provided when, as you said, proper credit has been given. In those cases, those who have concerns would do best to privately notify the artist whose work is alegedly being misused. It should only be in cases where the individual is acting in flagrant disregard to the rights of the original artists that a public issue should be made.
In short - I agree with you, and I feel that in the case of Sparx's pack we acted correctly, but I think it should be the exception, rather than the rule. Ideally, aspiring artists should do the right thing out of their own conscience, not out of concern for public pillory.

I think this is an awesome texture pack. The only issues I have are the anamatronic mobs and metal things that should be natural (i.e. clay). Though I guess for hostile mobs you could argue "evil scientist." But that's just me, and I tend to be a bit picky. It's still an awesome texture pack overall.

Hehe, I guess one man's meat is another man's poison! I really like the mechanical mobs, and robo-duck/robo-chicken makes me smile every time I see one. I'm really happy that Glimmar has made clay/netherrack/cobblestone etc. look industrial, it gives great scope for buildings :smile.gif: I wasn't too keen on the brick colour scheme, but now that I've built a few brick buildings it's growing on me.
Now, if only it were possible to actually build steam or waterwheel powered devices and properly control waterflow with valves and such, I'd be as happy as a mad scientist locked in a workshop full of gears and body parts...
I do quite agree, the mobs are well designed, besides those damn ... building walking bombs...
the pack is really quite beautiful, definitely my favourite pack. Glimmar, Faust, keep up the good work.

Glimmar is the master artisan here. I merely help as much as others do. I would never say I love this pack more than others (even though I do) :biggrin.gif:
But I merely love this place (this thread and the people here). Glimmar is the one to which the credit goes.

I'm right in your boat Gestank!
The people here have GOT to be the most awesome bunch of people on the minecraft forums. No really, you guys are great! :biggrin.gif:
I basically just post here now just to say hi and see what people are doing now! I know Glimmar knows that I still appreciate and love his pack, I just don't say it every post now! :tongue.gif:
(Although... I love the pack Glim! Just sayin')
I'm a great fan of steampunk, what a great work this is. Congrats to Glimmar and Faust.
Guys, there's something I'd like to know before I install this: does this texture pack need much more processing power than the original textures to run nicely? It's that I have a decent laptop, but it's a bit weak when it comes to tradicional gaming requirements. Default textured MC runs on it quite nicely, with a tiny bit of framerate drops if I put the graphics to "fancy" instead of "fast". 2.1 GHz processor and 4 RAM if you need to know. Can anyone tell me if this texture pack will significantly affect the performance of the laptop? Thanks in advance.
You should be fine running my pack on that setup RockyMotion. Just make sure you use the new beta MC Patcher programme to fix Minecraft graphical glitches. Link to the patcher is in the OP next to the Texture pack download links. If it seems a bit slow, the new patcher can easily swap you back to the original now.
Gestankfaust, I'm going to have to work harder to replace your loaned mobs, you're slowly absorbing my pack it seems, curse you Cthulhu! Right, I'm working on a new spider, squid and slime next and that collection of steampunk characters and alternative mobs is going for sure!
Just to make it clear though folks, given time, anything that has been kindly loaned by users of the pack is only a temporary loan and will eventually be replaced my own textures. This is not intended to sound ungrateful towards those who have been kind enough to loan their work, and I would hope no offence is caused. Gestank will understand I am sure. :smile.gif:

What? No more Steam-chicken!?!?! Oh well, I knew this would happen eventually.
In other news, looks like Doku is trying to address the remix problem. He's got a poll for support banning them, and it seems like there is an overwhelming majority that would like them banned. Just thought I'd let y'all know, give you a chance to let your voices be heard.

Hehe! I'm stuck in the middle of this too! And the majority of the mobs as yet aren't mine...just wait 'till I get round to 'em! hah!
My rationalisation of it all, for those like me who haven't the patience to wade back through this tomb of a thread, is that the Nether is the place from which all those nasty mechanical mobs come...a lost civilisation of debase machines run amok from their long dead masters, hence the Nether looking like a vast abandoned factory/steel mill. These self-replicating steampunk machines burst out from the Nether regions at night, bent on destruction and overthrow of the world above.
Most of the domesticated creatures were supposed to be biological entities, but Vondell uploaded that delightful robot chicken and most folk fell in love with it and the wolf/dog was a whim on my part in that there was too much potential for (with the three states of wild, tame and angry) mechanical trickery to not make it steampunk (and it makes a great brass statue on a plinth). I will be doing my own version of the chicken and it will probably be robotic, but I intend to make it look more shiney brass and piston-like and a little more sinister perhaps than Vondells. As previously mentioned, it's always been my intention from the start to make all the textures in this pack, I just easily get distracted with other projects like steamboats and airships and lots of kind folk who see the understandable impatience of others, have offered up lots of lovely textures in the meantime.
Anything I remove to make way for my own intended creations will, with the continued permission of the owners, still be available in the the 'extras' folder as alternatives. :smile.gif:
I've still not completely made my mind up how I'll go with the any of the mobs I've yet to work on, until I get to each one in turn. Whatever I do I'll try to rationalise it within the theme and the items one gets from 'farming' them such as the mechanical chicken providing clockwork eggs, etc.
Who knows, if Minecraft is still popular in years to come and I'm still interested I might have made all sorts of varieties of creatures. Probably not gonna happen at my slow pace!

Yep! As you'd imagine, doku definately got my YES vote. He was the perfect guy for raising that issue and I he has my sincere thanks and seeing the way the vote is going it's kind of restoring my faith in humanity!
Like you must be, I'm getting so tired of all these issues, as doku says it's all very de-motivating for an artist! I'm going into hermit mode now and disappearing down into a nice dank cave.
After an extended hiatus from Minecraft (and the internet in general...yay for broadband again!) I have returned! Also, another edit to the default furnace.png. This one has better blending on the smelting meter and the fuel meter finally lines up perfectly. Just before I was on last I remember Glimmar asked me to edit something else...a chest maybe? I can't seem to find it in the current pack, but if it still needs to be done I'd be happy to help out.
EDIT: Also, there appears to be a transparent dot on the cactus.
EDITx2: I too voted yes on Doku's poll
Back again. I had some spare time today, so I did something rare for me. I actually attempted a shovel!
- The titular shovel.
And the sheet, because I always post it:
Also, Gestankfaust, I took the time to reorganize my Dropbox for you, and added the new items in if you wanted to use them. I also uploaded the newest version of my texture pack if anyone wanted to scar their eyes. It's still in heavy alpha.

Great texture pack and it looks beautifull in my minecraft. Just a quick question though. When are the other armors going to get an steampunk texture?
Hehe! Glad you like the pack.
I'm so slow at the moment, due to real life, but I'm currently looking at the char.png skin and the armors...whether I get anything done in this chaos of a life I'm leading at the moment is debatable. I am at this very moment looking at them though and trying to decide what resolution to make them, as I don't always strictly adhere to the 32x32 pixel size especially considering the mobs!
