Finally saw rain but it was at night so didnt get to have fun with it. But yes a raind dance would be nice Glimm . Also just realized that my cobblestone stairs theres just blackness where the actual stepping part is. Is this b/c I did my own texture for the cobblestone or is there something else amiss?

I've heard that this will sometimes happen, and I've had it happen on my laptop. Seems to only occur during certain settings (messing around with it, I find on my desktop it happens when smooth lighting is off, although I think it was when smooth lighting was on for my laptop). It also only seems to affect newer stairs. Stairs added before either 1.5 or 1.4 (not sure which) are unaffected (I think). So… no, it isn't your textures, it's a bug.
thanks for the heads up. I will try messing with the smooth lighting and see if it fixes it. Also anyone heard anything on if DrZhark will be updating mo'creatures mod cause I would love to put that in my world with Glimms pack

Most of the mods are waiting for the latest version of the MCP to be released. Until it is released, it'll be difficult for anyone to create or update mods to be compatible with 1.5_01.
I have seen the rain and snow (hence be building the dome) but have yet to see lightning. I heard some the other day, but didn't actually see any.
Can't wait to see the new rain, bubbles, and flames, and as for the armor, I wouldn't mind if you put it off for a while. I'm currently using the Redcoat and Johann Kraus armors, as well as a leather aviator suit that TheWOODman made for the planes mod a while back. Only armor I don't have anything for at the moment is diamond, but as I typically play on peaceful anyway (SMP server I'm on is always on peaceful), I don't have much need for armor other than for decorative purposes.
During the time it did rain in my world I kept thinking I saw flashes out of the corner of my eye, but not seeing a classic bolt of lightning fork to the ground I've no way of knowing if it was just wishful thinking. Lol!
Ha ha! Those bubbles are a thing of the past now. There are still bubbles in the water that come from the one 'big' bubble particle, but the line of bubbles in the particles.png file used to represent the splash from rain drops have been replaced with little splash drops and it looks ok to me so far, but I'm going to have to loiter around the countryside in Glimmar's World and hope it rains to judge properly.
Does anyone know if it's more likely to rain in swamp/forest areas or any other biomes, if so I'll build a railway to the nearest and camp out there for a while, or is it not as fine a thing as that?
I'll be separating off the 'extras' folder in this next download, which will make the core download a lot more civilised.

As far as I've seen, when it starts raining/snowing, it happens across the entire map. Tested this out by traveling a rail system a good kilometer or so, with it raining/snowing the entire way. Also, as I play mainly on a multiplayer server, I've had a number of times where I came on just to find it in the middle of a storm, even though it was clear when I left.

I have been testing this (just by playing mostly, and paying attention :biggrin.gif:) and agree with ksheep. The only thing that differs is the snow vs rain sectors really.
@Glimmar - I got lucky with my bubbles. The way I did them, it turns out a good fit for both water splashes and rain. I am looking really hard as to where the lightening bolt comes from. I actually saw the bolt...so it should be a texture somewhere

Perhaps different biome weather might get stuck in at some stage. It's a pity we can't get snow fall in areas other than the already snowy areas. I was hoping to look out one morning on my dock area and see it all covered in snow! :sad.gif:
I've only done a cursory search in the minecraft.jar, but do you not think the bolt of lightning is produce by some sort of vector line, so perhaps finding a random pathway from sky to ground? I was kind of hoping it might be random.
Hows you doing with the fire animation? :smile.gif:
@ ksheep: That journey by rail must have been quite thrilling in such inclement weather. Minecraft really is continuing to shape up wonderfully, but I was kind of sad to read about the initial proposals about the modding of Minecraft in Notch's blog and that a proper modding API won't be possible now. I like the idea of the new map system he's devised and that the code he's written could also be used eventually for books notes and handdrawn maps. Cool!
First, I have patched this game and now for some unnapparent reason all my grass on the dirt is gray.
Second, How do I install the extreme art because I realy want propellers and etc.
Please Answer,
tzarmarko
Hi tzarmarko. :smile.gif: Thanks for the compliment. As regards the Xtreme Art, you'll find the file that's illustrated in my OP in the 'extras' folder in Glimmar's Texture pack folder. Drag a copy out onto your desktop then open up the 'art' folder in my texture pack and drop the kz.png on your desktop into that folder...replacing the standard size kz.png file in there. Next you need to install the following mods: More Paintings Punch A Picture
The 'More Paintings' mod allows you to use the Xtreme file you swapped into the 'art' folder and the Punch A Picture mod allows you to cycle through the paintings whilst on the wall by punching them with your fist. When you want to detach a painting from the wall you must use a tool like a pickaxe. Pressing the shift key whilst punching reverse scrolls through the available paintings. Have fun! I've not had chance to use these mods in since the new update, but they have been updated as far as I know.
As regards the grass on the dirt being grey, I'm not sure what's happening there. Are you saying the top of the grass is grey whilst the side bits that hang over are green? Was the grass ok before you applied the patcher? You could be using the old version of xau's patcher...in which case try the new Beta version, http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1021&t=252531, It would be advisable to re-patch with a 'clean' version of Minecraft. Also read the instructions carefully regarding the new beta patcher as it is applied differently from the old version.
Thanx for the info. About the grass, when I got snow off my grass the top turned grey while the edges are still greeen. Now I found out that while most of my grass is gray I have a few patches of green here and there.

It could be that your smack bang in the middle of the Minecraft equivalent of the arctic in which case the grass would be grey to brown round there, but really now, after the 1.5 update by Notch, the sides of the grass should be the same color as the tops, unless you've not updated your Minecraft and haven't download my latest texture pack version 2.2
It may also be the case that the patcher hasn't patched properly too. ksheep and Gestankfaust and many others around here are usually quicker than I to spot what the problems are, so they may see this and be able to profer some advice. Make sure you're completely up-to-date with everything and perhaps even try a fresh download of Minecraft after backing up your save folder and then deleting your Minecraft 'bin' folder.

Another possibility is that you don't have it set to Fancy graphics. I tend to remember hearing that the side-grass color fix is only implemented when you have Fancy graphics turned on.

ksheep, I was trying to think of that possibility...I knew you'd get! Yes, it could be to do with that. :smile.gif:
Tzar...do you have the 2.2 pack installed? as well as the latest HD patcher? Sounds to me like an older version of the terrain where the side grass (where the weeping obsidian used to be) hasn't been updated. That would cause it not to match the regular grass color biome. The gray of the grass is probably just tundra.
@Glimmar - I have worked on them all morning. The versions of fire I have done look cool...just the edges are too flickery and unrealistic. I'll keep tryin and have a "Get Animated IV" video up when I do

Just to say, I've made a new rain texture...but still waiting for the rain in my world. Seen it once for a little bit, but no lightning! :sad.gif: Anyone around here actually seen lightning, or snow?
I've seen the snow, but as to the lightning all I have seen is where it lights up the sky briefly.

I reckon that's what I must have seen out the corner of my eye. At least I'm not cracking up!
Just to verify, when you said you were going to fix the "Annoying gray line you missed on the snow", are you referring to the bottom of the dirt block when covered in snow? If not, would you mind tweaking the side of the snowy dirt, as it kinda clashes with the non-snowy dirt (see attached pic).

that's the plan. then of course, make a couple of alt versions. I kinda took a break to see my new snow and rain and try to find a friggin slime to test a new one I made. All of which cannot be tested by just jumping in game...lol!

Hey, I've always loved this pack, just a little suggestion.
This update, Notch added something to the redstone. If you have tiles directly under the current redstone tiles, They will overlap the current redstone texture ingame, and they will not be tinted. So you can thrown the pipe textures below with the little red parts on top, and you have the old redstone pipes working again.
Thanks, SpinBuilder. ksheep is right, I'm hoping to have a chance next week to have a play with the redstone wires again, with the new overlay that is. However, I think the more pressing problem is the soapy rain creating all those bubbles, Lol! :biggrin.gif:
I understand. I was always partial to the redstone pipes. It's an easy edit, so I have no problems with that. But sometime you should consider putting the pipes in the alternates.
I've actually had a different experience with weather than others here. I was tinkering around with the new power rails trying to make them work the way I wanted and it was in a small area that was raining all around me, but not where I was. (Nothing above me) So I don't know. It's an older world if that matters.. Although it was darker there still. I'm not sure it's because it was such a small area or it is global. But even if it is global from a code perspective there is already the distinction by biome between rain and snow, so all you'd have to do is in 'dry' biomes say don't render rain or snow. I'll experiment a bit more next it rains and see if I can find any more borders than the small area I found.
I have rain in one of my worlds almost all the time now >.>
It's really weird too because I set up camp next to a beach and although it's still raining, no rain will show up over sand! (or sound)
EDIT: I wish I could keep this post count rank :ohmy.gif:
