Hmmm,
I Noticed my alternitive art file for the pictures did not make it into the latest release.
That's the one that has the gears and other Steam Punky stuff:
Glimmar is still welcome to include it if he likes.
Download it here: link
You'll need More Paintings to get all the art to work.
Also very usefull is Punch A Picture to cycle through all the art without going crazy.
At least this person states that the textures are from us (yes...they loved me and you and John Smith this time)
The above has wasted enough of my time now, Gestank, I'm sure you'll agree. I will get back to you on the lava, mate, but I feel I need a rest after the above. Lol! I get the feeling someone was trying to teach us a lesson! :biggrin.gif:
Yeah..think I actually got more irritated at the moron with 3 posts more than anything else there. But, just like you, smelled a rat there.
Only lesson I learnt (yes..that's now a werd), was that i no longer want to help as much any more. Sad to say it, but I feel unappreciated after all that (as a helper). Problem is, that it's stacked with real life situations just like that at the moment. You feel like you've come a long way, then get dragged back to the start because of new people who don't respect "community efforts" any more.
If it weren't for your posts there, I woulda got a ton more nasty...so thanks for that at least...lol!
Well, I hope you're not still discouraged, mate. If I know you, you'll have bounced back within a few days and discovering new things. Like Grugsy summed it up in the Mystcraft thread, some things just feel like your punching bedrock...yer never gonna get through it without the help of a mod! :biggrin.gif:

I haven't shown my support in here for too long :'(
I love how this pack looks with the fixed sidegrass though Glimmar, it's awesome! Surprising how something so small could make such a difference...
Oh and that drawing looks amazing! :biggrin.gif:
How are you planning to colour it? On the computer or by hand?
I definitely appreciate all the hard work you've done around here though Gestank, you've made many textures for this pack, you have 2 FULL packs running at the same time AND you made all those animations xD
I think you have to be one of the hardest workers around here!
I definately appreciate all the hardwork and the support Gestank gives around here and elsewhere and you mate, too. You've certainly no need to apologise for not popping in more often when I'm the worst for neglecting my visiting duties! Lol! Like Gestank's, I enjoy your sense of humour and somehow with that 'Timmy' the sheep avatar it makes it all the more hilarious! :biggrin.gif:
Glad you like the drawing. I was planning on leaving it uncoloured so it had a more 'heliotype' Victorian feel to it with 'Glimmar's Steampunk' as a floating coloured title above it at the top. Or perhaps it might be a mistake to include it, like false advertising...folk might get disappointed if they don't find 8-limbed humanoid spider robots in the game!
I agree with you about the grass, not just my grass but in general, I'd forgotten what a difference having the side grass properly match the top would make. But I've got to get on to fixing that aweful soapy rain!

I'm planning to do that very thing tomorrow. Unexpected day off - I don't have to report for jury duty after all.
Maybe I'll take a break from "volunteer texture pack support" and actually play Minecraft for a while.
For now, I'm off to bed. Goodnight my friends.
Hope you did have a relaxing time, mate, and thanks for your reasoned support over in Mystcraft, that was much appreciated.

I RETURN!!!
Yes, I'm still alive, and the texture pack I have planned is on hiatus as I have plenty of homework to catch up on! The good news is, Gestank had agreed to help me a while ago (Not sure if he's still willing to as I haven't gotten back to him for a while). But, summer is coming round the corner, meaning I HAVE FREE TIME UP AHEAD! Reading the other thread with the cut and patchwork texture packs made with other people's work thing kind of gave me a light chuckle at the expense of Glimmar (Sorry, I just thought the would-be attorney's argument was quite funny), I dunno if I still have permission to use the Steampunk pack as a stepping stone for the Dieselpunk pack I'm (supposed to be) working on.
But yeah, I'm back, and hopefully the Dieselpunk Texture Pack will not go the way of Half-Life 2: Episode 3.
Howdy, captain! :smile.gif:
Glad I gave some entertainment over in Mystcraft. I realize I am like a dog with a bone though, when it comes to taking issue with things and it's only when I look back and think "That wasn't really worth the time really...why did I do it all over again!"
Mate, you did things the polite way and asked before using my textures, Lol! So absolutely feel free to carry on using the pack as a stepping stone.
What, there's never going to be an Half-Life 2: Episode 3? You mean I've been waiting all this time for nothing?!! What a weekend!!! Lol What's Half Life?
Triskelli pointed me in the direction of that mod a couple of weeks ago, but with the 1.5 update and other stuff, I couldn't do anything and I still think it has a little ways to go yet...like pulling instead of pushing, but I loved the recent video showing the track laying machine...that was cool.
Fixing my rain and re-doing something nice for the brasspipe redstone wiring (even though d95's edit is superb!) and possibly re-editing the booster tracks to something a little more satisfying is going to occupy my time for the next few days. If I get any free time! :sad.gif:

just like to know if you are going to make any skins for the Planes mod? =3
As Gestankfaust alluded to, that's been asked a couple of times and I've had to be honest and say it's a lovely looking mod and obviously very popular, but I just haven't got time at the moment, and I must admit, I'm the worlds worst when it comes to figuring out what goes where on a 3d-skin, so I really have to psych myself up to tackle a new project like that.
However, I didn't get chance to properly advertise the fact that a kind person called Elretha PM'd me two lovely steampunk airplane skins, using some of my textures and her own work and I placed it in the 'extras' folder in my pack download. Have a look at them...in the 'Textures for Other Mods' folder.
Anything anyone sends me usually goes in the 'extras' folder properly labelled...it's the only way I can keep up with all the little extras folk kindly post in, but there's only so much space and time. I'd love to put more stuff in and give folk more credit and space in the OP, as they deserve, but I would just be spending all my time administering other folks stuff instead of texturing, which is not what I set out to do when I started my texture pack, so I really hope you kind contributors understand. :smile.gif:

Hmmm,
I Noticed my alternitive art file for the pictures did not make it into the latest release.
The 'extra's' folder was getting overly large, so regretably had to leave some things out. So large now, that I'm going to have to separate it from the pack I think, then folk don't have such a huge download every time Notch or I update. :smile.gif:
I made the pig zombies in my world into Skeletor since currently I am using He-Man skin. Its kinda funny hearing Skeletor grunt like a pig and drop cooked porkchops when he dies.
I think I could do some steampunky textures for some mods. I just am so lazy I don't think I'll have enough concentration to make anything big while I have to do all my stuff for school and so...
anyways.. found some rusty iron texture from the alternative textures but I couldn't find one that had as many rivets as the netherrack-iron so I added some :biggrin.gif: made two slightly different versions...
when I was writing this post noticed there was a some kind of border looking thing on the same line as the rivets I just made, so I drew those away...
and you can tell me to stop uploading these stuff I haven't done that much modifications or drawn completely from scrap...
next thing i may make is the pigzombie skin.. maybe looking a bit like that drawing glimmar made...
Last I checked, Glim doesn't mind people reposting variations on his stuff. For instance, I had posted some recolorations of the glowstone a while back.
On another note: Glimmar, could you possibly include all the minecart variations in the extras folder once you post it as a separate download? Once school gets out, I'm gonna take a crack at making a mod to support multiple cart textures.

@ ksheep: The multiple cart textures modification would be very cool. I was meaning to either post all the different minecarts I did for folk as a mass display or include them in the extra's folder sometime, but initially I was giving everyone who got a personalised one some time to use them exclusively, Lol! Keep reminding me if I forget...there's that much going on all the time I lose track. :smile.gif:
First, I have patched this game and now for some unnapparent reason all my grass on the dirt is gray.
Second, How do I install the extreme art because I realy want propellers and etc.
Please Answer,
tzarmarko
Hi tzarmarko. :smile.gif: Thanks for the compliment. As regards the Xtreme Art, you'll find the file that's illustrated in my OP in the 'extras' folder in Glimmar's Texture pack folder. Drag a copy out onto your desktop then open up the 'art' folder in my texture pack and drop the kz.png on your desktop into that folder...replacing the standard size kz.png file in there. Next you need to install the following mods: More Paintings Punch A Picture
The 'More Paintings' mod allows you to use the Xtreme file you swapped into the 'art' folder and the Punch A Picture mod allows you to cycle through the paintings whilst on the wall by punching them with your fist. When you want to detach a painting from the wall you must use a tool like a pickaxe. Pressing the shift key whilst punching reverse scrolls through the available paintings. Have fun! I've not had chance to use these mods in since the new update, but they have been updated as far as I know.
As regards the grass on the dirt being grey, I'm not sure what's happening there. Are you saying the top of the grass is grey whilst the side bits that hang over are green? Was the grass ok before you applied the patcher? You could be using the old version of xau's patcher...in which case try the new Beta version, http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1021&t=252531, It would be advisable to re-patch with a 'clean' version of Minecraft. Also read the instructions carefully regarding the new beta patcher as it is applied differently from the old version.
NOTE: New in this version! Texture packs can now have custom animated fire. Texture pack authors, use the filenames custom_fire_n_s.png (for the north-south sides of the fire block) and custom_fire_e_w.png (east-west sides). The format is just like the other custom_*.png files. Animation speed may be tweaked depending on user feedback.
LOL!!
Now to get started on this! (has to be made roughly in the same way as the lava, water, and portal files)

Hey everyone. Haven't had much to show in the realm of creative constructions, partly due to school, partly due to working on a largish project… and partly due to Portal 2. Anyway, I decided to post a preview of my current project. I had started building a small town, complete with surrounding wall… when the latest update came along. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but I forgot that one corner of the town was in a snowy biome, so to keep snow from covering a quarter of the buildings, I decided to build a giant dome over it. Here's my progress on the dome so far:
As for the rest of the town, I've got a minecart terminal headed back to the mainland (across a good sized sea), about half of the wall, and a mine built over a huge cavern complex. Hoping to add a number of other buildings (houses, store, museum/library, maybe a pool complex) as well as a harbor and some farms, but first I need to complete the dome and flatten the rest of the area.
P.S. The sign on the bottom-most image has the dimensions of the dome. I'm using a Mincraft Sphereoid Generator I found to get the design right. Dimensions are y=40, x=36, z=25, with a rotation of 0. Note that those numbers are radius, not diameter.

I like the creeper colony idea Glimm. Also that dome is pretty awesome ksheep I alwats end up killing myself when I attempt rounded structures. I myself have yet to see any weather and am begining to doubt its existence. On a side note can anyone help me out on making the sides of grass blocks have grass as well?
Just to say, I've made a new rain texture...but still waiting for the rain in my world. Seen it once for a little bit, but no lightning! :sad.gif: Anyone around here actually seen lightning, or snow?
Also finished a new splashing water set of particles and, in the abscence of rain, I jumped around in the water like a kid. Anyone know of a rain dance for me and Graveshadow?
Changed the green flame particles to better fit the theme of a gas lamp...less flame and more glow like, which to my eyes also works better for the furnace and the lava.
Done quite a few tweaks to the terrain.png: snow (annoying grey line I'd missed), dirt with grass edge (had a lighter block which repeated terribly!), lightened top edge of frosty dirt. Fixed a rogue black pixel on the powered booster track, but still want to design a different set of boosters, now I know how they work (as far as I can see there's no good reason to stick boosters together). New mushrooms for a change! Edited the bed further to be more symetrical and fixed some missing rivets.
My problem at the moment is not getting enough building in, so I can see much better how things hang together on a big scale and gain some inspirational motivation I'm sadly lacking at the moment. Sorry to anyone waiting for new armour, etc. Just as soon as I can I will put up another update with all the little improvements (or big improvements if you hate the rain bubbles like me!). :smile.gif:
I have seen the rain and snow (hence be building the dome) but have yet to see lightning. I heard some the other day, but didn't actually see any.
Can't wait to see the new rain, bubbles, and flames, and as for the armor, I wouldn't mind if you put it off for a while. I'm currently using the Redcoat and Johann Kraus armors, as well as a leather aviator suit that TheWOODman made for the planes mod a while back. Only armor I don't have anything for at the moment is diamond, but as I typically play on peaceful anyway (SMP server I'm on is always on peaceful), I don't have much need for armor other than for decorative purposes.

Curse PremiumAlso finished a new splashing water set of particles and, in the abscence of rain, I jumped around in the water like a kid.
:smile.gif:
Can't wait to see the new rain, bubbles, and flames, and as for the armor, I wouldn't mind if you put it off for a while. I'm currently using the Redcoat and Johann Kraus armors, as well as a leather aviator suit that TheWOODman made for the planes mod a while back. Only armor I don't have anything for at the moment is diamond, but as I typically play on peaceful anyway (SMP server I'm on is always on peaceful), I don't have much need for armor other than for decorative purposes.
