Hey Glimmar, regarding the rain particles on the ground... I'm gonna have to say the bubble "splashes" are a bit out of place. They are large and noisy, probably should resemble splashes or drops. The graphic in itself is nice, like when you splash around in water, but it doesnt work so well in rain because it appears so frequently. Also, would it be possible to make the rain the same wonderful teal color of the water?
hmm...not sure about that one =/ i didnt have that issue with it. make sure everything is updated correctly and maybe try to uninstall/reinstall minecraft? the basics are all i can think of..

Just my two-cents.
While I haven't figured out what to do with the bubble splashes, I've done a recolor of the rain if you are interested. I don't know the best way to distribute the rain.png, as I usually just post screenshots(.jpeg files) when I use images, but I'll see what I can do to get it to you if you'd like. Here are some screens of my world with the customized rain:
As you can tell from the last photo, I missed a bit of the blue in my recolor. I've since fixed it.
EDIT: I bit the bullet, so to speak, and registered for an Imgur account. Here's the rain.png file(be sure to rename it from "AO0Ss" to "rain"; I didn't know Imgur did that):
Edited again for scattered blue pixels with low opacity. Stress-tested it by dropping into deep water while watching the rain(might as well use the bug for something useful while it's still around).
Thanks guys and gals for all the nice comments of support and for keeping things busy and moving along. Sorry I haven't the time just at the moment to answer individual questions, etc., but thank you to all those helping others over their individual problems with Minecraft.
My own problems I mentioned earlier with lockups and thinking it was to do with the Advanced OpenGL was actually to do with me forgetting to install the latest 64 bit version of Java. So a lesson to all not to panic and blame MInecraft!
@ Southpaw: I have to agree with not liking the bubbles for rain splash. While they work fine in the water in the wake of a boat, it definately looks overpowering and silly with the rain, as does the color of the rain drops. I'll upload another update as soon as I can to fix this issue...if you can all stand having to drop yet another pack version in. I will separate off the 'extra's folder so the download won't be anywhere near as big and, with the new beta MC Patcher, switching to another pack version is not the trauma it used to be.
@ Losgunn:, that's a very nice edit to the rain there and mine won't be much different, but thank you for helping others and that world build looks very atmospheric with the rain and light conditions.
@ d95: Good news about the pumpkin, mate, thanks for letting me know. Notch or Jeb have really fixed a lot of little (and some big) issues with this last update that really help to make Minecraft more satisfying to play.
Please bear in mind folks, I'm supposed to be on holiday and doing some real life building work at the moment, so it's frustrating not to be able to quickly fix things, but I am intending to do some more booster track edits, rain and splash edits and carry on with finishing the rest of the pack.
Thanks for being a good bunch of supportive Minecraftian's.
I did secretly have a little play on my son's LAN world last night and made a new terrain.png file for him including replacements for all the wool colors with my 'alternate' textures. This is just a reminder for those who like to edit things to their liking, not to forget to put my alternate textures to use. Having approximately 14 new building blocks to add to your palette (even though they're flammable!) really helps on the variety front. There's over 400 textures in the 'extras' folder in the pack or in my OP to play around with and you can put The_Fool76's 'Texture Mix Machine' editor to good use...my alternate textures are already loaded up for you to play around with: The_Fool76's Texture Mix Machine
Here's the alternate terrain.png file I made up on the spur of the moment (don't forget there are others in the extra's folder, but you will need to add in the new beta 1.5 textures for those):
If you do any nice terrain edits, not with textures from other packs though, only using my alternate textures for obvious copyright reasons, why not offer them up here for others to use. :smile.gif:
It's funny how the simplest, but well made, structures attract my attention the most...nice job. I really like this... (on the rain too btw :biggrin.gif:)

@Glimmar - I was actually goin through all of the textures you've made, trying to make a Victorian world without the steam. Was fun getting to build for a change. And I got a full night's sleep last night.

Sleep and sun...best remedy in the world, but not compatible with the life of a computer graphic artist who works mostly at night, Lol! I thoroughly enjoyed messing around building last night for a change, but thought I'd better make a start on the rain and drops this evening, as I dislike what mine have become after the update!
When I made up all those alternate textures I didn't realise just how many are pretty useless when it comes to building. Hah!
Good morning Glimmar,
it seems that once again people can't seem to read your instructions in your wall of text i the first
page so first things first, EVERYONE, before getting Glimmar patch your game with McPatcher, it takes 5 seconds to do and it fixes all the known texture glitches. IMPORTANT, it seems it works best if you patch your game BEFORE installing any other mod.
-Thou has been warned.
-EDIT-
Also for the rain, the way to fix it would probably only to make the bubble half their size and give not twice the number but one and a quarter time there original number.
-EDIT-
Found a video of a cool mod.
Look around 2:30, it's f-ing brilliant and could go well with steampunk no? (modernization) viewtopic.php?f=1032&t=247686 <- this is the mod btw.

Glimmar is already quite aware of the Pistons mod, as is Notch. Also, Notch (or possibly Jeb) is thinking of adding it in as an official part of Minecraft in an upcoming update.

Jolly good. I just wanted to point out the cobblestone generator.
~I can't believe I wrote Jolly good.~
I don't really post much but i am a large fan of this pack and until recently as in the 1.5 update i had now problems but when i repatched the pack multiple problems have arisen. The texture for the redstone wire, new saplings, and new tracks don't work, the redstone show up as the S and T from Steampunk and the new tracks, and new saplings show up purple squares. the grass sides don't work they resemble green obsidian and to top it off when i try to access the Stats the game crashes. I ran the ropes many times and the same out come can anyone out there help i would be so grateful
Download the new version of the texture pack, that should fix most of the problems.
Thats just it i am using the Newer Version but It won't work

All I can say is: are you sure you selected 2.2 inside minecraft?
Like so :
Note I fxed my terrain.png by myself that's why I still have 2.1.

Yep! Advice accepted and as ksheep mentioned, I'm aware of and love the look of the Piston mod, but as Notch is going to include it sometime, I thought I'd wait until it becomes official before texturing it now. :smile.gif:
I was editing the droplet particles and the rain texture, but got side-tracked this evening dealing with other matters here on the forum to do with my 'grasscolor.png' biome triangle. Frustratingly it made for a wasted evening! :sad.gif:
Just my two-cents.
<snip, fixed itself 0_o>
did you use the mc patcher? link is on a previous post, if not. that fixed my issues i had like that with my pumpkins and my compass :smile.gif:
warning though...it might reset your achieves when you use it. it reset mine >.<

Are you using the one listed under "!HOT!" at the top? That's the one that's compatible with 1.5_01. The link to the forum page is here.
If that's the one you used, I'm not sure.

Retired StaffHope you haven't gone to bed just yet Glimm!!
Download: Glimmar's Custom Lava and Portal Animations
Just pop these file in the main directory of Glimmar's Steampunk. They will override the terrain.png's texture.
