Man, I love this pack. I have Minecraft Alpha 1.2.2 and for some reason the ground and trees are grey. How did you get those trees with varying colors? It's an awesome pack!

You can't use the current version of glimmar with alpha 1.2.2. (Why are you even using 1.2.2 (Please don't tell me you hacked it, Please don't tell me you hacked it, Please don't tell me you hacked it, Please don't tell me you hacked it...))
-Edit-
To answer your question, I believe it is because 1.2.2 didn't use biome color yet and leaves and grass are basically gray until biome color is applied to it (for newer version or newer version skinpacks)
-Edit-
This is why when you give yourself leaves or wear them as a /hat (bukkit) they are gray.
Glimmar, you inversed the two Booster Track it actually 'spins' when unpowered. Just tellin' you.
-Edit- Even in your picture you can see it :
see the redstone is unpowered... -EDIT-
I think I heard someone said we could come back to the old redstone with the puffs, how do we do this, I'd rather have the pipe then this...

Hack? No? I never hacked my game. I'm using an Ubuntu(Linux) and this seems to be the latest version of the game. Is there something I'm missing?
It seems like everyone else is enjoying new updated content and I'm stuck using stuff from the stone age. Like y'all have wolfs and beds and stuff in your game. I got nothing. I don't even have that item on the main menu "Mods and Texture Packs" or whatever. How do I get the latest stuff on Ubuntu?

I believe it's the same way as you got 1.2.2, just download it from the website. And in the future, the update will be automatic.
-Edit-
I'd give you a direct link if the website wasn't dead... Dammit Notch I thought you fixed that problem.

New to the forums, thought I'd post some screenshots of the overlay for redstone working. The difference in coloration between the "ON" and "OFF" positions isn't as noticeable as I'd like, but it definitely works. Here are the screens:
In the "ON" position, you can see the puffs through the vents in the piping.
In the "OFF" position.
To do it, simply use the blank space below where the current "diode" redstone is in the terrain.png of Glimmar's awesome pack for your overlay graphic, with the diode being the glowing element. Currently, I just copied the piping overlay into both areas, and trimmed the glowing element to fit within the space provided by the overlay - I didn't change it to complete black, which is probably why the difference in coloration isn't particularly noticeable. Also, I know this was already mentioned, just wanted to show some screenshots of it in action.
EDIT: I changed the glowing element to a dark maroon, the coloration of the glowing element in-game works for me, though I'm by no means a pixel artist. I didn't even know that the color used for the glowing element determined the color of the particle effect when you break a redstone circuit until a few minutes ago, so...yeah.
I'm anxious to see what the professionals are going to be able to do with this. I've missed the redstone overlay.
Hi, everyone. Just had breakfast (UK) after 5 hours sleep...could have done with more, but I'd virtually be doing night shift if I work any later and stay in bed any longer! :smile.gif:
Sorry about all the stupid mistakes, I'm not noted for my quality testing, probably because I'm constantly fiddlying with everything all the time, thanks redalpha, copy pasting text from previous posts at 4am in the morning doesn't make for intelligent edits either...hence the confusing version numbers in the download links. Fixed now until I've updated the OP with a lot of new stuff.
As soon as I get a chance I'll put up a 2.2 version with the booster track swapped round, but it won't be until tonight.
I am aware of all of the possibilties of the new redstone wiring and the new overlay, but I don't want to rush into that at the moment until after the school holidays here and I can have a proper play. The diode and new track were kind of designed for the wiring I came up with when I had to drop the brass piping, so restoring the piping might not be as straightforward as just overlaying. I'd like to see what else could be done. I will be on to it though. :smile.gif:
As regards crashing, I've tested the pack on three separate computers here and they all work fine if the right patcher is used and you bear in mind Notch has introduced lots of new things. My apologies for not being more specific with instructions for xau's MC Patcher. Last update some found xau's old patcher worked ok for them and the new beta version worked for others. I've not had chance to look at both versions to be able to recommend one over the other, so that's why I just linked to the usual thread.
I'm grateful for the advice and input others have given in helping folk to sort out their patching difficulties. I use the new beta patcher without problems at the moment as does my son, who's been merrily beavering away all last evening and this morning with my new pack and the new 'beta' patcher without a single crash. We both had difficulties using the 'Advanced OpenGL' setting making the game unstable and showing up chunk errors in the landscape. We both have nVidia graphics cards, with slightly out of date graphics drivers, so will look into that when I've a bit of free time.
As regards everything looking dark still, it really doesn't appear that way to me or the other comps here I've tested it on, one has an ATI graphics card and Dell 22" LCD monitor, 2nd one has a nVidia card and Samsung 24" LCD and my new one has an nVidia card and 24" LED and the lighting at night in game is quite acceptable. We tend to play in a shady room and if the sun shines we part close the curtains. As previously mentioned, I brightened the terrain.png by 10% this time, only re-darkening the dirt block to stop it looking like a very sandy coloured soil at the last minute. I was more worried this time that folk might complain I'd gone a little too far brightening things up!
I certainly accept that Glimmar's Steampunk is darker than most other texture packs, but it's a mystery to me why some find it so very dark at night. I guess if you've moved from a doku or John Smith texture pack with their much brighter, richer colors you'll instantly feel things are a lot darker by comparison. As a solution, if you felt up to the task you could always load the terrain file into Photoshop, Gimp or Paint.net and lighten up the entire sheet by a controlled amount then looking at it ingame. Let me know what your findings are. :smile.gif:
I think we've also got to bear in mind that everyone's hardware is different, our perception of light levels and the environment we play the game in, what texture pack we used previously, are all contributing factors. Obviously bearing in mind the theme of Victorian Steampunk, I'm happy with the light levels of a gas lamp lit, smoggy night. :smile.gif:
I guess we need someone like The_Fool76 to get to the bottom of this lighting conundrum. :smile.gif:
I've not seen rain yet, but I'm not sure I like my bubbles particle graphics like this:
I'd be grateful for everyone's opinion on the rain before I go and change anything for the next update.
Thanks everyone for your continued interest, input and compliments. :smile.gif:
HOW did you do that? i didnt understand your instructions.
can you show me the terrain.png
or the classfile(if you used a class file)
If you'll look at the terrain.png from Glimmar's texture pack, there is the diode redstone texture to the right of the booster rails. The empty space below it is where you would place a texture for a redstone overlay, and the diode texture is the glowing element; that is, it is the part that will glow when activated in-game, and be dull when there's no power.
If you specifically want to get the pipe back as an overlay, just copy it from further up in the texture pack(to the right of the ladder) and paste it below the diode redstone texture. If you want it to look like the screenshots I posted, you need to paste it in the overlay spot and where the diode redstone texture is, and edit the redstone texture so that it fits within the overlay below it. Sorry I can't post pictures to be more concise, I'm a bit pressed for time at the moment. TL;DR: fiddle with the area below the diode redstone texture and you'll understand soon enough.
Also, I wasn't posting in an attempt to rush anyone, just wanted to show screenshots of the overlay working to spark the creative juices of others who might want to take a crack at it now that it's working again. Great texture pack, by the way. =)
