Also, Jeb is supposed to update tomorrow to fix a couple of bugs, so yeah the _.1 should come quickly.
I'm going with your advice, Ghil, 'cos I still can't decide...it's getting there though. Everything I did last night on the new track has completely changed!
Poor Jeb, I bet everybody else has left the office to play Portal 2!
Hi Glimmar, long time lurker, first time poster here. :smile.gif:
I love the pack! The attention to detail is staggering!
Oh, a tip: I mucked around with the redstone, and I'm not sure if you know this yet or not, but you can get the old redstone back, the one you had with pipes! All you gotta do is put the pipes texture into the bottom redstone slot, and leave the top redstone slot completely empty, and voila!

Ooo! You're a star, mate! Welcome to the forums and thanks for the compliment and although others have mentioned that I should be able to have my redstone pipes back, you've made it sound a little less complicated. I've grown to love my new diode block though, and that's going to need more thought as to how I proceed with that and pipes.
I may still put out an update with the wired redstone still in place, then I can have more time to experiment, and see if I can combine effects from both sets of redstone. I may even do some variations, but updates never seem to work well with my real life commitments and as I said earlier, I've got more concreting and foundation work to do tomorrow.
Again, thanks for the support. I'm going to be at this 'till the wee small hours tonight, otherwise I'll have to carry on tomorrow night (UK time). :sad.gif:
hey don't worry too much about the update, we're behind you 100%. With the amount of time and effort you put into such a wonderful pack, I doubt anyone that is right in the head would dare get angry at you for updating late :tongue.gif:
Glimmar allow me to say a few things about this texture pack.
When I first saw your texture pack a few months back, my first thought was that it was "gimmicky" and didnt fit at all with the style of minecraft. A couple of weeks ago I tried your pack and I have to say it has completely changed my opinions and i'm eating my words. I love to build medieval/crusade style buildings and such, but when I took the time to try your textures, I found myself starting to build in a more "futuristic" steampunk style. My current world has a large steampunk castle on a giant cliff overlooking a huge ocean. It is simply epic (love the robo-wolves by the way). Anyway the point i'm getting at is that I greatly appreciate all of the hard work you have invested in this texture pack and associated mods. thanks for being awesome.
Forgive me if this question has been asked/answered a million times already, but how do you use the alternate textures?
You just copy from one of the alt sheets onto the terrain file for Glimm's pack. If you're into doin that sort of thing.
@ Glimmar - upon further testing, the redstone that shows as white on the terrain.png is the one that changes from off to on (glows red or not). The blank sections below it are the overlay. I put a line for the redstone, and my chain links over the top, and the redstone shows through the transparent spaces in the link. (still experimenting with the transparency)
So now we can have a bit of both your redstones. Diodes underneath pipe..glass...or whatever

Folks, I'm just admitting defeat for tonight. Everything is done, but I'm going to get some sleep and test it properly in the cold light of dawn. Again, thank you for being patient and your understanding comments. :smile.gif:

and on that note, I'm going to sleep as well. :happy.gif:
hey Glimmar, will the armor and animals be changed to suit a more steampunk environment? because i thought the chicken and wolf being steampunk but the cows and pig was weird, becaue i know point 'e' says you;re not very motivated to do so, but i think it will be very very awesome

With my gift of clairvoyance I see that it's not acutally Glimmar which will do those but actually people like Gestankfaust or others...
(P.S.)
My gift of clairvoyance has nothing to do with this: Gestankfaust...spider, squid, slime + Skin Pack (in the 'extras' folder of the pack)
Vondell...chicken, cow, sheep, sheepfur, skeleton, zombie, leather armour, weapon/tool items, compass, watch, cowhide and title screen.
d95/Zaffa...creeper
Tiger4Ruler...pigzombie
Tlos...crossbow (bow)
Heftig...Blowtorch(flint & steel), gui (modified by Glimmar)
Vinegrower...inventory gui
BloodJack...container, crafting and furnace gui
I'm currently on hiatus from minecraft until this gets updated, considering that it just isn't that same without amazing steampunk graphics. Your texture is just that awesome.
Just thought i would share this with everyone here, been working on a skin while i wait for my mods to get updated, its an Imperial Minegineer. Hopefully when everything gets updated i can finish my steam giant.
Anyways, i cant post a screenie, so just check it out on the skindex
Up and about again, but got things to do in real life for the moment with real stone and mortar! I will be continuing work as soon as possible on Glimmar's Steampunk.
I was getting regular crashes last night testing the new track, and having never experienced any crashes in Minecraft before, was a bit spooked. However, reading Notches twitter he's, "Working on 1.5_01, fixing a few minor bugs, and one major crash bug (the new rail blocks cause an infinite loop)", which has made me feel a little better this morning.
Slow as I am, and because I'm not really interested in stats and achievements, I suddenly realized we need new textures for that screen too. That will delay things a little bit, but not being able to use the new railtrack until the 1.5_01 patch I'm hoping I won't stretch your patience too much. If there's anything else in the new update I'm missing, please let me know. :smile.gif:
Having a new monitor with my new computer has given me the opportunity to view my textures in a new light, so to speak, so I'm trying out a slightly lighter palette throughout, which for those having problems at night, should be an improvement. I still need to muck about with the tone of some things as a result, including my new saplings which look like neon christmas trees at the mo'. Lol! I'm loving the fix to the sides of grass Notch has given us (all credit to him and the team for fixing lots of things and kindly listening to everyone's wishes, re: the redstone)
Thanks again everyone for your supportive comments and patience. Any spare time I have is being spent on updating, apart from waffling on here!
From what I understand the glitch with the rail that leads to the crash is when you place the new rails next to old rails so its next to it instead of connecting to it, if that makes sense? (So if you have an existing track and are putting a track beside it kind of thing)
The rails have worked just fine for me without attempting to do that.
Any thoughts what you wish to do for the upcoming update that will potentially add pistons? I am sure you could do something amazing with that, and seeing how intricate piston setups are a steam-punk staple I have high hopes

Retired StaffThat's what I was talkin about...it is the new redstone trail. But the area below that is where the overlay goes (if you make one)
