Made some more progress. To the left is a small loading bay and in the middle, around half of the main loading bay, it's going to extend out a bit more in my direction when I'm done with it.
Been watching this pack since Page 4 of the thread, so far the only thing I really really wish you made was Custom Water and Lava animations, you'd make me soooooo happy if you added those, lol.
Glimmar has made those. You just have to use Xau's patcher.
Custom Animations, not terrain.png textures.
Doku's new pack has amazing animations that he just made, which is why I thought to ask Glimmar about custom animations, due to the fact that they make your water and lava MUCH MUCH sexier.
@Patchumz : Please be so kind and link to the pack, I want to have a look at the animations! As far as I know Doku has stopped and left the forums ages ago, but there are many ppl working based on his pack, is he back?
Yep, he's back, been for a month or so, he started a new pack.
Hi folks. Just to say I'm still alive....just! Too many nights looking after poorly offspring has left me short of sleep and under the weather. :sad.gif:
I have some more time today to work on the update and hope to post another pic of the completed 'Glimmarwolf' today. It's taking a long time, because I'm trying to make every part fit together on the steam wolf, so that it's consistent and feels like things properly interconnect. Although I have a lot of textures to fall back on, it's mostly all being created from scratch, and that takes time, ie. I'm not just cutting and pasting ready-made wolf skins.
Sorry my work is only intermittent at the moment, but rest assured any free time I have, is spent on updating this.
Thanks to all for your encouraging comments and welcome to all those who are new or relatively new to the forums...I appreciate you taking the time to post. :smile.gif:

Revised the Steampunk pack. Not sure is the OP still has the right linkage to this. Here's the skins pack including female version and all mobs made. Still hope all credit is given in the readme.
I will include this in the 'extras' folder in the next update, if that's ok, Gestank? Many thanks indeed. :smile.gif:

I really appreciate your interest, Patchumz. As Gestankfaust says, I'm not a big fan of animated water, a little two minds about lava, but just have to be honest about lack of experience and time makes me turn first to other things. I have no animation skills what-so-ever, coming from a traditional art backgound, so I tend to shy away from it, but I may be tempted to have a go and see what's possible if Notch gives me a break. Who knows, I may come up with something you might like to use, even if I don't! :biggrin.gif: Lets just say I'm not saying an absolute flat no! The real problem for me at the moment is just simple lack of time.
I've had a nice tutorial for animation sitting on my desktop for the past month and just haven't had the time to do anything with it! :biggrin.gif: And to be honest I'm really missing just having the time to build stuff myself. :sad.gif:
Doku has my sympathies at the moment, he does most excellent work, but there never was a person plagued with more suggestions for what he should or shouldn't do in the history of Minecraft texturing. I looked at his water and lava animations. Water I liked...surprisingly (for me!), his lava I'm not so sure about. It looks a bit strange the way it all pulses from dark to light en-masse, I think I prefer John Smith's lava, but as they are both light years ahead of me in terms of animation skills, I shouldn't really comment. :smile.gif:
Right...I've prevaricated about the bush (good work avoidance tactic!) and wasted enough time...back to the update.
Glimmar, I must know what programme you use to create such amazing artwork (Your texture pack).
Tigii, I use Gimp mostly...when I'm hard pressed I work quicker with it and I like things that are free! I have Photoshop, but only got that after I'd familiarised myself with Gimp, so for me it's difficult to adjust! My mind is already confused enough, without all the bells and whistles, different layout, etc. in the big professional package. Coming at a late stage in my life to computer graphics, I still approach it like I'm using simple pencil and paper and work with only a fraction of the tools I should be using. Hence why I take so long! :sad.gif:
@glimmar
if you have free time you dont have to work on this. there are other things you want to do right? inless of course you do want this to take up your free time. but i say nay go have fun.

I'd have gathered since your texture is so detailed and I haven't quite understood why Photoshop won't let me paint a single pixel. I'm trying Paint.net and have to try out Gimp. I want to make my own texture pack "for the lulz" but need to find the software that I feel most comfortable with. That was all beside the point. Thank you for the info.
A painting for you since you have a passion for art.

To paint a single pixel in Photoshop, use the pencil tool, set the brush size to 1 (if you'd like, set it to square brush pallet), and turn OFF snap to grid. This should let you do it just fine.
More screen from the Glimmar MetalPunk :biggrin.gif:
Shots from Pipeworld. The new castle area "Dionysia"
[more pics to see on previous page]
Wonderful constructions from PipeWorld!
Just how I would imagine a steampunk city to look and the textures seem to work quite well. Are they all mine or have some of yours been thrown into the mix there? Either way it all looks very atmospheric. Loving it all, but I'd have to say that sea gate is my favourite construction.
My hearty compliments to all the architects and builders. Those pics are just the shot I needed in my frustrations with this update.
It's not that I'm not having fun with the steamwolf and I'm happy with the way it's going, it's just that trying to make every joint look like it's hinging on a ball and socket kind of arrangement is taking so long to get pixel perfect. Also, each wolf state (angry, normal, tame) is getting a very different look, an opportunity too good to miss in a mechanical world, but it all takes such a lot of time to get the look I'm after. Like the airship, the wolf is a great mob for custom/personalisation. Well it'll just be ready when it's ready and you'll all just think where did all the work go in that? Lol! :biggrin.gif:
Thanks for posting these Gestankfaust! :smile.gif:
All textures are yours cept for the dirt "rustiness". I did those and the lapis block (is a reactor of sorts made by me but now shown). I did some overlays of you textures on top of others (sand, gravel, dirt...and more) to help make the metal theme. Turned out awesome.
For you and all your texture skills though. Still thinking of another themed pack using other textures.
And I found a doggy :biggrin.gif:

That rusty dirt looks brilliant, mate!
Would you believe I've got six wolfies all of which wandered into my dock area...can't keep the things out! Must be the smell of fish or something, but while examining the ins and outs of my current wolf skin project I saw two more circling around. I think I built on a wolf 'lay-line' or something! Lol!
When free of the Steamwolf, I'm going to build kennels for them all to sit in out of earshot, 'cos their barking gets a bit annoying after a while. I'll have one favourite to accompany me round my abode, but when I fancy hunting the cry will go up, "RELEASE THE HOUNDS!". Then all mobs (creepers aside) beware!

Jep Glimmar you should pay a visit soemtimes and wander around in Pipeworld worthawhile ^^
Looking at those pics I really need to do that sometime, as a holiday, but not until this blessed update is finished! :smile.gif:
Thanks for all the imput by way of compliments, fascinating pics and suggestions, folks.
My sincere apologies that real life has got in the way of a quick update. This has been a very busy weekend for both my real work and family, but rest assured as soon as I can, I will be updating with some goodies.
Many thanks for your patience. :smile.gif:
As a little sweetener or teaser, here's what I'd got done so far on the 'Glimmar Wolf'' of the genus 'Steam' before being called away to various family crises:
Still needs grungifying and the shade of colour will only be finalised when I've got a complete wolf to look at.
Are you going to make a more natural one per chance? Instead of everything being metal and slightly lifeless I kinda want a more natural companion to join me on my journey through steamcraft

Love the textures
