Thanks everyone for all your input above. Forgive me at the mo' for not replying individually to any speaking directly to me. Love everything yer doin' and thank you for compliments to those who are new. I've just finished up some real life stuff and got a little window to work on something towards updating. Thank you to all you super fast geniuses who suss these skins out in a flash, they will be very helpful when I make my feeble attempt at a steampunk, steam driven doggy friend.
@ Jonathan_Kent: I'd love to see that variant terrain.png. Any ideas and textures I might give to you folks works as a two street...I gets lots of ideas back in return. I just wish it came with a bit more time! :sad.gif:
I will look into this armour idea though. Sounds complicated and I'm a simple man! :smile.gif:
@ Gestankfaust: Yogcast are just the easiest going, most hilarious guys to listen to...they were born to play and make Minecraft hilarious. I'd watch their collected works on 'Lets Play' anyday. I'm still wiping the coffee off my monitor from yesterday. :biggrin.gif:
I will be upscaling too. Later if folks want a scaled down version it's easier than going the other way.
@ Wulf_Oman: I got some inspiration for cookies (or 'biscuits' as we Victorians like to call them...none of this colonial cookie nonsense! Lol!) How about some kind of sandwich biscuit with chocolate squeezed between, or I may just stick with something similar to Notch's, as I'm getting tired of everyone wondering what the heck half the stuff in my pack is supposed to be. :biggrin.gif:

Why does every pic of the new doggie...look like he/she is "dragging the carpet"? Like they have werms? (the sitting animation is bad)
That's Notch's other April Fool's joke. I heard someone found worming tablets in one of the mysterious locked chests!

Its not to bad. Least notch finally got them out
I take it you mean the update and not the worms!
@ Wayuki: You are absolutely right. The 'Water Shake' is utterly amazing considering the limitations and the whole impression is very doglike.
@ Croco15 Great work on the doggy skins they're both mechanical lookin and cute and lovin' the look of the texture pack! :Diamond:. May I stick them in the mob pack as alternatives?

@Jonathan_Kent: Concerning an armor for the wolf, this would mean altering the blocks etc. maybe a modder will do that, other wise it will only look flat.
@Ioncat: I agree the size is abit more towards dog and cuddly animal, than the real height of a wolf, it maybe also be due to performing issues when you tame a pack of them, the pc might have to struggle if the size is too big? Like your skin, as far as reality goes I imagined wolves more greyish color, but a google picture search corrected my perceiption.
The thing that is missing the most is the pelt or rather hair, may not possible to make it out of blocks, but that would be a cool animation of shader rendered hair ^^
Thnx for all the skins and input guys, always a joy to read the replies on this thread! ;D
The blockiness of any of the mobs is making me lean more and more towards mechanised versions as it's a lot more believable to have moving things with sharp edges and obviously it's possible to get away with it for the theme. And after watching the Yogcast vids, I'm also thinking there's more mileage in them for creating something cute and even hilarious to offset the otherwise slightly darker side of steampunk.
Thanks both to RavenLeBlanc and MCSensei. Glad you like the stuff so far! :smile.gif:
Right...enough chin wagging...back to the update. I shall go silent for a bit now, but I'll keep an eye on the thread in case you find anything I should know about. :smile.gif: Any experiences with the MC Patcher will still be useful as I'm not sure what to advise folk when I do update.
And about the 1.4 update i realy hope your going to change the wolf skin, but if ur going to it don't make the wolf all metally instead make him like a little ragged or smt that goes with surviving the apocalypse or smt like that, but if you realy want to make it a little robotic make it have like 1 robotic leg or smt, but i realy hope to see what you will use.
Thanks, Stryder glad you like! :smile.gif:
As regards the wolf, it will certainly not be all shiney new metal. I tend to like 'grunge' stuff anyway, but remember this isn't really a post-apocalypse theme pack, but there's certainly scope for variations. I hope you will like what I eventually come up with though. Incidentally I haven't even had time to find a wolf yet. I've been finishing off a new 'dispenser' gui and the biscuit/cookie, etc. then if it looks like more work than I anticipated steampunkifying the wolf, I can release what changes there are as a temporary solution. :smile.gif:
I am totally LOVING this texture pack!
But I have a request. Can anyone make/recommend a female skin that would go nicely? A nice victorian style dress or something?
Thanks

You sir have earned the respect of the trans Russian-American sky fleet.
May notch bless all ships cast in your name!

Aint no grave gonna hold my body down, when I here those trumpets sound I'm gonna rise right outta the ground, aint no grave, gonna hold my body down...
dude i remember this texture pack BEFORE it was SO BIG and BAD and AWESOME(bad in the sense of coolness plus internets) i remember building my first spawn to house railroad with this texture pack on. now i need to use this texture pack just cause i want to see how the dogs turn out. are they going to turn out like spiders? skeletons? who knows MAYBE YOU KNOW!!! nah i kid. but on the more serious note good luck steampunkyfing your wolves. and if you can't find wolves just download single player commands mod and spawn one im telling you it works wonders. i made a watch tower with something extra at the bottom :wink.gif:.
i seriously want to redownload but i can wait for the 1.4 >.<
@ Croco15 Great work on the doggy skins they're both mechanical lookin and cute and lovin' the look of the texture pack! :Diamond:. May I stick them in the mob pack as alternatives?
Of course Glimmar, it would be an honor. I can't wait till people start making all sorts of awesome types of wolves.

Thanks so much, tashage! :smile.gif:
Gestankfaust, put together a Steampunk skin pack which is in the 'extras' folder of my texture pack. There was at least one female skin in there, but I fear it wouldn't be possible to have a full length dress as the skins are textured over Notch's original male trousered character. I haven't skinned characters since July of last year and I'd love to be proved wrong on this, because when i do eventually get round to making my own character for the game I'd like to do both a male and a female character for folk to use.
I'm sure someone will come up with something for you if you don't find anything in the pack. :smile.gif:
Aint no grave gonna hold my body down, when I here those trumpets sound I'm gonna rise right outta the ground, aint no grave, gonna hold my body down...
Sorry about the slightly cluttered state of the file, I've been updating the same terrain.png since a very early version, so old stuff gets left in the unused spaces....
That is indeed a linking book on the crafting bench, by the way.
And yes redstone torches have been turned blue. I will always remember this one cave in RiVen with creepy creepy blue torches and drum music, so thats where those came from.
I'm glad you like the pack sufficiently to be excited, but I've had a busy day to day and although I could probably give you an update tonight, it wouldn't have the steampunk wolf skin.
That may be preferable, I don't know? Let me know if you want the update tonight, minus the new wolf skin I'm still working on? That way you give me a little more time this weekend to come up with something worthwhile for a Steampunk wolf.
I'll keep bobbing in throughout the evening and if there's sufficient demand for a wolfless update tonight I'll upload it later. I'm in the UK, have had no evening meal yet, so you'll have to show a little patience.
I appreciate your interest folks.
ps. you could always try someone else's wolf in the meantime. :smile.gif:
i vote nay on putting out an update until you get your steampunkyfied wolf in the update. and why are you deciding to do it in a rush. if your gunna make a wolf skin do it in an organized fashion so that you don't get too ahead of yourself and you forget something.(like a tail that happens to be a cleverly place lever) (or the ears happen to be lil Cogs) you know that sorta jazz.

Considering that their legs don't bend, I don't think it could be made to look any better. XD
