Hi there fellow Steampunker's!
I've got a new place where we can share maps with some really awesome extra features that I haven't seen
on any other map sharing website... I know its starting to sound like a commercial, but I helped beta test
said website and I think many of might like as much as I do.
The site just went live and I've been waiting patiently to be able to share that link.
Enjoy!
What a great site and already filled with all sorts of fascinating worlds. I can finally have a look at your world! :biggrin.gif: Thanks for sharing, Pjpuas.
Those alt textures look great! Very nice work glim. You two miss something? No, that is not correct. More like you will just get back to it :wink.gif:. Also, wonderful work on your pack gestank. Looks very good!

Lol! Thanks, Briggs! :smile.gif:
@ Gestankfaust: Wow! They don't look too bad! What's got me interested, apart from your constructions, is the use of the alternative 'steamer chest' texture for wood planks. I'd never thought of using it for that, but as regards fence posts, at least, they look a really good alternative. I don't know how you have the time to do your own pack work, mobs and all, and still have time to tinker with my textures too! :biggrin.gif: Glad you have...I just haven't any spare time at the mo', but having the chance to see them like this suggests all sorts of other possible texture variations. :smile.gif:
Thanks for taking the time to try some of them out, mate.

Making a rave room using those incredible alt textures. Wow.
Howdy, ssaint! How did the convention go? Hope to see what you do with the textures. Once Notch's update has come and gone, I'll start on some more textures I think. If I think they have some use, I'll keep on churning 'em out! :biggrin.gif:

Just swapped out some of the wool textures, decided to test them out with my largest woolen construction. Yep, my Rubik's Cube. Here's some pics.
And no, I didn't swap out the white, black, or grays, as I thought it kinda unrealistic to shear a sheep and get pre-dyed, pre-patterned wool.
Lol! That sheep makes me laugh! Kind of looks like it's in shock after seeing the giant 'Cube' or a local getting in the reporter's way on the news. Now a square tiled, cube in a cube...locky world. The mind boggles!

The convention, alas, isn't until the end of May. I did get my diamond pickaxe made though! I'll post pictures tonight or tomorrow, depending on when I next get some free time. It's good to be back!
so anyway could someone please tell me how do I incorporate the new textures into the texture pack without replacing the ones in there
Use photo editing software of some sort, preferably something with an Alpha channel, ie. Photoshop, GIMP, or paint.net. Do NOT use paint, as it does not have an alpha channel, and everything that is transparent will become white.
Once you've opened both the terrain.png and the alternate texture sheets, simply copy and paste whichever textures you want, making sure to get the replacements placed right, otherwise you may get some odd lines from the texture underneath. I find the easiest thing to do is to turn on the grid, setting the grid size to 32 pixels, and turn on "Snap to Grid". This should ensure that they are exactly where they need to be.
Hope this helps, and have fun with the new textures.

Decided to make the grass and leaves metallic, but thought that they needed some improved grass and foliage colors to match. So I went into Photoshop and messed around a bit and ended up with these. Feel free to use them if you'd like. The one problem I'm seeing is that it's a bit heavy on the brown end. I may tweak it a bit more to try to get some iron-colored bits to go with the brass and bronze I've got.

Oooo! That looks very interesting and is going to to make for some very unusual worlds with all metal textures, etc. I'm trying to imagine what a world with mostly metal textures and your biome triangles might look like.
I wonder if it would be possible to create the impression of something like a world sized steampunk colony ship, an artificial construct designed over millenia and become so huge from absorbing the resources of other worlds it now has the properties of a world with gravity, atmosphere, ecology, mechanical creatures (mobs) descended from worker bots walking it's outer surface. Airships would have replaced the old shuttle craft that scuttled around in space and over a vast stretch of time something has happened to the human population, leaving you the sole survivor awakened from some unimaginable sleep. Now I'm day dreaming, but there's probably a good sci-fi story just waiting to be written here! Look what your biome triangles made me do! Anyways, good job with those triangles.
Could I add these to the pack, ksheep? At some stage I may have to split off the 'extras' folder if all the potential alternatives make the pack download too large, but that shouldn't be a problem. I feel a big sort out up in the OP will be necessary for all these new possibilities!
I'm currently stuck with the 'items' sheet at the moment, trying to finish it all off before '007 Notch' decides to update. I take it you all read his latest entry in 'The Word of Notch'

Feel free to use them. They are mostly based off of yours anyway. I just took what you had, added a layer with a gradient from brassy and iron to gold, and told it to use Hue mode. I could probably tweak it a bit to accentuate some colors and lessen others (seems like there's too much rust color), but all in all it works well.

Curse PremiumMythos truly does live. Everything is looking very spiffing and near perfect. Very, very jealous of that moon!
Great stuff , love the soundtrack :smile.gif:
Just one little thing though , towards the end of the video it says "Cthulhu is in Everthing" there is a "y" missing from "Everything" .
