Hmmm. I hate to sound like a fangirl, but I like them all. For the sake of the poll I'll pick 4 as my personal favorite. I really like 1, but I am unsure how the crags will translate when a wall is covered in cobblestone (same with 5, and the seeming embossed look). I like the coloring of 3 (same as 4) but I like the larger pattern of 2, 4, 6. That's my thought process.
In the end, if you're releasing all these as alternative textures, I really don't mind which one you end up using :smile.gif:

It's looking fantastic!!
^This. 2 or 4 as an overall favorite though.

2 and 6 are my favorites as-is. 5 I would love the most, but only if the mortar was a bit darker and contrasted more. As-is it just blends too much.
Love all of the pack thus far and cannot wait to see it release. Also looking foreword to what you do with items, mobs, and armor if you decide to attempt them later.
Cobble texture #5 gets my vote for the colour and rounded nature, it reminds me of the cobbled streets still in existence in some small towns and villages in my part of Scotland, however the layout is more akin to #2 in many places, so if you could sort of merge the two it would be perfect.

I just wanted to poke my head in here and mention how awesome this texture pack is looking. I'm really looking forward to the release. On that note, I like 4 and 5 (of the cobblestone "samples" earlier) the most. I think 5 looks the best, because it's more versatile. Unlike the others, which are essentially entirely bricks (well, 1 isn't), 5 can be bricks, or it can be a stone-y surface. Sometimes, bricks aren't quite the right look, but neither is smooth stone. That's one of the problems I've run into with Minecraft. When working with stone, you essentially have 2 types to work with. Smooth stone, or cobblestone (and sometimes mossy cobblestone). Sure, there's obsidian (I haven't found diamonds yet, so that's not helpful to me), or dirt, gravel, or sand, but those are lousy building materials, most of the time.
Admittedly, since I haven't seen what the others look like in game, I can't say for certain which would look best, but in my opinion, for versatility, number 5 is the way to go. Again, really looking forward to the release. Mouser X over and out.
I for one really don't like 1,3 or 5, not because they're bad (they look great!) but because my main gripe with cobblestone is that most people's renditions of it look like nothing you'd want to build a castle (for instance) with. Bricks aren't really practical and are also not stone, and cobblestone always looks so...street-like. I'd prefer something that looks like you could really build something out of it. 2, 4 and 6 do kind of look brick-like, but I don't think that's a bad thing.
Cobblestone I see more as simply stone and mortar. You would take whatever stone you have, lay them, and fill in the gaps. That also fits more with the concept of cobblestone versus bricks, where bricks are meant as the more processed product and cobblestone fits in as something you did with that rock you dug out of your mine. So more varied sizes and shapes in cobble.
Perhaps more straight edges in the stones as if they were broken. Less round, but still rougher looking.
Crops/Shrubby Swamp Plants
My first edit of crops, to try and get something that can also be used in the landscape as a wild feature, though easily destructable by pesky mobs, but still functional as a feed stuff! Makes a nice garden feature too. :smile.gif:
Rows of crops, bordered with my new half block. The new half block is my attempt to make something that can pass as a stone step, but has a slightly metallic feel too. I will be working on some rusty iron and steel plating for the paintings later, when I get a chance to experiment.
Thanks for the feedback on the cobblestone. I'll go with no. 5, but you can see what a problem I'm having deciding what's aesthetically and practically the best for this theme. Everybody very much has their own idea of what cobblestone should look like, but this theme kind of dictates a particular style and for variety in building I wanted it to contrast with the stone block to fit in with 'granite' and 'sandstone', which I see a lot of in Victorian architecture around where I live in the UK. Also, trying to get something to look right on the ground and yet look strong enough to support castle walls is something I'm really struggling with. At some stage I might have a look at doing a 'flint' texture, as used in Elizabethan times which would fit the realism of crushed rock but would still compliment a Steampunk aesthetic and might work as a flooring material too. Here is an example of the cobblestone, rock and brick texture as they look in my world:-
I'll include the extremes of different cobblestone I've done so far and will continue to experiment after the big update. Mostly everything will need some editing, but particularly things like tree foliage, ice and snow, the 'baked bean' lava (which is included more for a laugh than anything.:biggrin.gif: Just use notches lava for now it's nicely animated too), water, etc. A lot of things have been rushed at the end to try and give you a look before Halloween and I didn't want any gaps in the terrain.png or to have to borrow someone else's art.
This is very much my last post before uploading the Terrain.png, Particle.png and draft 'Item' folder. I have some other 'real life' urgent things to do, but will try and get them uploaded before Friday night, then you'll have a little sneak peak of everything before Notch renders them useless.
Just bear in mind that my textures are not ideal for a new world setting. I'd encourage you to start off with something like John Smith's or Doku's textures for early world exploration (their stone and cobble are far better than mine for atmospheric delving underground, etc), and as you develop your base and world slowly introduce the 'Steampunk' textures. I'm expecting that you will think the landscape textures aren't up to scratch, so just use whichever bits and bobs you like. I'm happy if someone finds just one of my textures useful. These are mostly done to satisfy myself, so anything else is a nice bonus.
Anyway, hope you like the crops for now and the rest will come by tomorrow night (hopefully!). :smile.gif:

I personally like 5, I can see myself using that for streets.
The Quick Fix!
Click the creeper!

Would definitely like to see this brought to completion!
Also, #5 but perhaps with added contrast.
this cobble would be great for anything from streets to towers
this one is just awesome.
I am bookmarking this and checking back every few days.
