Why already love yours...those were different, so I asked
:tongue.gif:
Just ignore me, mate. I'm usually thick skinned, but lack of sleep, head hammering, too much to do in real life and reading a stupidly annoying comment on Youtube the same evening about one of my textures, kind of put me at a low ebb last night, making me wonder why we bust a gut over trying to please everybody. As we all know we shouldn't take any comment seriously and it's in the nature of Minecraft and these forums that folk will cut and paste and suggest different ways of doing things. Just me throwing a hissy fit! :biggrin.gif:
And there's nothing wrong with John Smith's textures. No one, in my opinion, does rock and cobble and many other textures better than him. He also seems a very nice, modest sort of guy. However, with regard to certain textures I have to remain true to what is right for my world and the theme and the fact that I like everything to multitask as much as possible.
Getting constant requests to change this and that gets a bit annoying after a while and I shouldn't let it get to me, but we're all human! If I was getting paid by the download it would be a different matter. As I'm not, folk are just going to have to take it or leave it, as in future, unless I'm doing a one off special of personalised textures, I'm only doing the textures to suit me. :smile.gif:
What I really need to do is spend less time replying to posts and spend more of what little time I have finishing stuff off to my liking. Then folk can do what they like with it. More work, more sleep, less commenting. :smile.gif:
Lol! I bet that lasts all of a few hours!

That's pretty spiffing! Love the simplicity of the dirt and stone, but it tiles beautifully...it's shaping up to be a great texture pack! Nice work, Xytherea.
*snip*
Ha! funny you should mention the tiling, I've been nagging my boyfriend "does it tile ok? does it look good?" alll he can say is "I dont know what your talking about but it looks really good"
At least he says it looks good! All I get from my wife is, "All I can see is a load of squares, what do you want me to say? What's tiling anyway? Haven't you got some tiling that needs finishing off in the bathroom?" and son number 2 shouts out, "Yeh! Whatever! I've just loaded up John Smith's texture pack and it looks amazing, come and see!" Gah!! "Yeh? Well, all I can say is I'm all tiled out and cobbled off!! Actually they're both usually supportive, but last night was the exception!
just been popping in now n then to follow the tex-pack, some nice stuff, i love using it :biggrin.gif:
was just pondering, whats in the pipeline? i noticed some talk of wolves? good stuff
anyways, love the pack and looking forward to more additions soon :biggrin.gif:
PS: Regards our sunny weather, its great :biggrin.gif: , being based in Barrow its a nice change from the Rain, rain, rain, rain...
>.<
I believe Glimmar is currently wrapping up some alternate textures (provided he doesn't get distracted again). As for the wolves, that'll be after the next update of Minecraft, as it appears that Notch is adding them in. Kinda hard to texture something if we don't have anything to work off of.

One should never be afraid to flat-out say "No". It's your texture pack, do what you want! Oh, before you go off and sulk, might I add that your thread here is by far the most prolific in the Texture Packs area?
Thanks for all the plugs here, I'm glad you're enjoying the mod.
If anyone is interested, I have some 32x armor textures I made for myself. They're a bit crude, and more "WWII-ish" than steampunk I think, but better than stock 16x IMO. If you can use these as a base or inspiration, go for it. I only posted the chain and leather armors because the others are just re-colors of the leather; like I said, crude.

aah, wolves are in the next update, didn't realize this :smile.gif:
i wasn't sure it the wolves where one of the many creature mods that are out there, thought he was branching out into these mods. :smile.gif:
think i'll go hunt down the info for the upcoming update
I posted a bit on this in my thread...thought you'd get a thrill out of it too (I don't think I posted this before here...I R tired)
A program of sorts that I found called Mineseeder that gives you a string of the saved worlds you have and lets you enter them in an empty slot (World slot). In other words, you can "redo" your saves anew without any of the buildings and such. Also lets you enter others' strings. Fast and easy way to share worlds, even if not the builds within them.
Screen from the new one I generated that is breathtaking just around the small area I explored (and it's all like this):
String to enter is [wb/TaPvSDd17YyZlZ2dsb97fmp4wdGVylZqYmM5G3OM5YVu1] (with the brackets)
The string for the generated world does change depending on where you saved. And the actual spawn may be different...I haven't tested it all yet. I saved where I built my place for "break from texturizing time"
:tongue.gif:
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"This may hurt a little, but it's something you'll get used to...."
Hey, just dropping in to say great this pack is and how you've kept me glued to my monitor for hours on end. Thanks a billion for ruining my life!
(Made this account just to post that, haha.)
Not quite sure if I've posted that yet, but even if I have, you and your cohorts deserve it.
Keep on texturing!
On another note though, the bed isn't very... Bedish. Honestly don't really feel like going towards the thing.
Well, Glimmar, you delivered alternate stone.
I deliver Aerial Airport.
Top view
From underneath
Inside at night
Sun tube at day
The entire structure is built around being able to view the airships once I start putting them underneath.
That airport looks amazing! I am going to be reinstalling MC this weekend to try to get MODS to play nice. Cant wait to try out the Stone Biomes, the water biomes, the ruins mod, and more... Sleep this weekend? doupt it. :biggrin.gif:

I'm looking forward to having a tinker and trying out other templates.

Thanks, Bazalisk. Yep, not quite sure what I'll do with the wolf yet? The sun is amazing...just enjoying real landscaping at the mo'! :biggrin.gif:
@ ksheep: You are absolutely right, got a bit more done yesterday and nearly filled up the sheet. So very soon now and it's nice undemanding work to do to get me out of the doldrums! :smile.gif:
@ Gestankfaust: Lol! We never stop experimenting! :smile.gif: I guess that's why we're all into Minecraft so much, the ultimate sandbox game! That's one very cool prog. I spent a happy hour yesterday just starting new world after new world and looking around. Having only worked on one world since last year, it was nice to just capture that magic Minecraft feeling again.

playing minecraft with this texture pack makes me feel like i'm playing Bioshock. is that where you got some idears from?
Well I played the first Bioshock...never completed it...but thought it was amazingly atmospheric and I guess along with many other things I'm interested in, it would have influenced me, but nothing directly. I like antique style futuristic (oxymoron alert!) gadgets, design, architecture...so from a Steampunk point of view, Bioshock is certainly perfect inspiration. Incidentally I don't really count myself as a Steampunk. I love the style, but consider myself far to conservative (not politically!) to dress the part these days. :smile.gif:
Incidentally, when i first started work on the pack, I was of two minds to call it 'Victoriana', as architecturally I'm just as interested in that style, but as things got more technical, it seemed more apt to plunge for 'Steampunk' which was more all encompassing, giving me a lot more artistic freedom to range from the past to the future. I suppose I wanted an excuse to make things that could have multiple uses. We have a more to play with now, but back then Minecraft was even more limited, so I wanted as many things as possible, eg. craftbench, furnace, etc. to multitask. I guess that's why it lends itself very well to epic builds, including, airships, etc.
@ Mooee: Thanks for the compliments. :smile.gif:
As regards the bed, Pjpuas has answered that and my multi-tasking point above.
I'm sure everyone, especially the builders, rather than spelunkers(?) amongt us, will carry a bed around with them for convenience. Setting up an interior bed outside every night seems even more peculiar than carrying around a time machine device to advance time to the morning. It's just being imaginative, staying true to the theme and making something that again can multi-task into more things than just a bed.
A nice looking bed can only be used as a nice looking bed! 20 pages back I listed about 10 things you could do with my kind of bed, especially with all the new diodes, wiring and Xtreme paintings this texture pack is packing. I'm talking about everything from Frankenstein to Steampunk battleship torpedo tubes. I should run a comp for all the ideas and see what uses you could put it to. Then see what uses you you can put a nice soft looking bed to (and before you start with the lurid suggestions, I'm talking creative building uses!!). Lol!

And what superlatives could I use on this? I am dumbstruck to see what use a bit of alternative stone texturing has been put to here. When I saw those flimsy uprights you showed a few pages back I new it promised to be good, but never imagined it would look as good as this, Foomonchoo!
Now what will you produce with some of the new textures I've nearly finished putting together, if you can do that with a bit of stone?
As Tiger says, there is a wonderful feeling of space and filigree...a very delicate and soaring feel to the use of stone. I don't think I've yet seen a structure in Minecraft look quite so curvy and delicate and yet so massively stable looking as this. Obviously the vast scale helps in that respect, but architecturally it's fascinating, making me think you must be an architect, architectural student or structural engineer. It's amazing, but entirely believable too and the way you've used the lights on those rib-like arches is quite beautiful.
I'm also fascinated by the shadows it casts on the desert floor...I hadn't really noticed how cool the lighting is in Minecraft on this sort of scale!
I'm thinking you will get many requests for a vid of this or the map. You should charge for sight-seeing expeditions! Lol! I hope Notch gets to see it at some point, I'm sure it would make him proud too! :biggrin.gif:
You most certainly deserve many of these, mate! and a resounding [Now which and how many of these pics to bump to the top?]

I believe thats the point. Its more of a Steampunk time machine, than a bed. And its rather fitting in my opinion, you do wake up in a future morning.

Have you made any progress?

Curse Premiumthe inside of the pyramid was going to be gold, but the gold blocks is not golden.
im requesting a golden gold block with a mark or a number on it (a example is 24)
or you can make it look like a block made out of gold bars!
