Random thought for the alternate textures:
Netherplate with ores, in case someone wants to use the Netherplate as the normal stone. Might be interesting (especially with the Biome Stone mod).
this looked cool so i decided to make it the first mod (texture) i downloaded. looks like i made a good choice it all looks very awesomely done.
Thank you, dmrmetallica. :smile.gif:
Don't forget, my latest work on biomes for grass and foliage is on page 135 and if you want to try out Nandonalt's new stone biome mod with my version of the biome colors the links are on page 136. The Water Biome mod by Nandonalt also comes highly recommended.
Many things need finishing, so check back often!

Thanks Xytherea and Glimmar! And Glimmar I just noticed we live bloody close to eachother.......(I live in the Northwest too)
Ha ha! Lol! Great stuff, mate, nice to meet you!
Minecraft is infinite, but 'real life' Minecraft is smaller than we think! :biggrin.gif:
Hope you're enjoying the nice sunny weather at the moment!

That's a very fine idea indeed. I was already experimenting putting some of the diamonds onto the surface of metal plates! Must be a bit of telepathy going on here. My experiments keep getting pushed back by biomes, items and exploration.
I took the momentous decision to use MCEdit on Glimmar's World. Purely for the sake of a lack of clay (my world was started back in July of 2010) and for the awesome Ruins mod. My save file had got up over 200 MBs and I saw my first ruin, a cool mausoleum with treasure and mobs standing on a mound in the desert. Either side of it stood two smaller sandstone ruins...very atmospheric. Great mod and an excellent source of certain rarish materials, but I was having to travel too great a distance to find anything. I've kept all my areas that have anything I built in and shaved off my recent biome and ruin explorations. I feel like my small kingdom has phase shifted to another dimension.

That's pretty spiffing! Love the simplicity of the dirt and stone, but it tiles beautifully...it's shaping up to be a great texture pack! Nice work, Xytherea.

what are you going to make the wolf look like??
I was thinking just the other day, after seeing the vid. It would work both as a faithful dog/wolf skin and as a robotic hound. Perhaps better as a steampunk construct because they lend themselves very well to the blocky nature of Minecraft.
These days I look forward to Notch's updates with trepidation due to th efact that all my other endeavours have to stop whilst I rush around trying to get a new update together. Lol!

Lol! Yeh! But you know we'll get nice sun until early June, then it'll bucket it down 'till September! Typical Northern weather, mate!

Wow Glimmar, thanks for all the new goodies! I just had some extra time and I got around to trying out some
of the mods you've been recommending as of late. I'm just loving how much atmosphere is created with
the combo pack of the Water/stone biomes plus the addition of the ruins mod.... Man I gotta say that
I may have finally found something that pulls me away from my Original map Ive been working for almost
a year. Ill get some screenshots later, I'd say video... But I'm presently using my laptop and it can barely
handle Minecraft on its own. I have to shut down WiFi, antivirus.... Well anything that isn't necessary.
Hopefully I'll make a new video this weekend once I update my home PC with all these mods.
But enough rambling, thanks for yet again pleasing the eyes of many with your wonderful work.
Hiya, PipeHead. :smile.gif: Hows things in PipeWorld? Haven't seen any pics for a while. :sad.gif:
...
Hope all is well with you and yours.:smile.gif:
Pipeworld is ok...been struggling with some backend issues related to both Bukkit and plugins for Bukkit. I want to go mulit-world and then using BiomeTerrainMod for SMP, offer up some alternate specially created worlds for those who want variety, but darn it all...it's not going as planned!
Then I wanted to move to using McMyAdmin...awesome program used to administer an SMP server with a web-interface and all, but again, it messed with so much stuff, I spent hours reverting back.
Needless to say, I've been angry with the whole situation and have been avoiding Minecraft altogether. Then there is the fact that the NHL is winding down it's season and that can only mean one thing....PLAYOFF HOCKEY!
That in turn has left me tragically uninspired, but thoroughly entertained
I will come around and get back to it. As Gestankfaust said, there is more than enough stuff to keep him busy making videos while I sort through my uninspriation LOL.
I would love to see your alt-textures, even if you just slapped them up here with not much fanfare.

Glimmar i don't suppose you could do another bed please????
I'm hoping to do some variants, if there's time. I like the adaptability of the time machine bed, but understand there are those who would like a more traditional victorian style one. It will only be an alternative though, so you'll need to swap it over yourself or get on the better side of me to upload an alternative terrain.png file. If everything went quiet for months with Minecraft and I had loads of spare time I wouldn't mind offering an alternative 'Victorian' style of pack. :smile.gif:

Nice to see someone else in the same position as myself. It is a great combo and I'm mighty impressed with all three mods (water, stone and ruins). Blimey it's made Minecraft into the ultimate travel game. I'm mightily impressed by how editable the Ruins mod is, allowing us to add all sorts of ruin/building designs to the file which the game randomly applies according to biome or certain conditions. If Notch hasn't already devised something I doubt he'd go far wrong using a similar system to this or just importing this, as is, into the next update. It's better than anything I was expecting from Notch and fully expandible. d00dv4d3r, it's creator is to be highly praised for his work on this...very ingenius and with a relatively easy to understand means of editing in new content.
Here's a couple of ruins I took pics of amongst many I've seen and they're always different:
A mausaleum at the edge of the desert flanked by two sandstone ruins overlooking the sea. Inside were stone sarcophogi in seperate chambers with spawners buried underneath and treasure chests.
A ruined village by the sea that stretched right round the coast.
Out of curiosity, will you ever support the GLSL shader mod? I know some intrepid individual created a bumpmap terrain image for 1.8, which looked lovely and ended up being linked on the GLSL wiki, but unfortunately with the latest update it seems to have broken it and added nasty black squares all over transparent objects like glass and torches. I'm looking into how to create the necessary images for it to work, but in the mean time I figured I'd make the one with the real art talent aware. Anything would be appreciated! Your mod is awesome as is, and I by no means expect any extra effort in maintaining it out of you - such things are difficult as is without scrubs like me piling more work on you.
I edited a little bit to my taste. Ignore the stone, halfblocks, and doors though.
I changed the nether so sand is a conveyer and netherrack is still the blocks.
Pumpkins I changed to (unlit) Machines that are dismantled and (lit) which are like...I dunno, some sort of generator. So now pumpkins are machines that were left to rot. :smile.gif:
maybe, you can make the same options as painterly. so you can choice you're favorite textures.
do you know what i mean.... mate ....
I know next to nothing about coding, and no time to learn, so could not provide that service on top of actual texturing work too! Phew! :smile.gif:

AnonCthulhu was the guy who did the work for my pack. He hasn't posted an up-to-date set since, though I think he still uses it.
Is that mod still being supported? I thought the guy was leaving to produce his own version of Minecraft?
As you say, I couldn't support it myself, don't know enough, don't have time to learn or do the work. :sad.gif:
I'd happily include someone's edit in the OP if they could maintain it, but I must admit I'm caught between not particularly liking low res textures and not liking an overly slick Minecraft either. I like flash graphics if I'm playing the latest Bethesda fantasy or Battlefield 3 (when it comes out), but I kind of like slightly old school Minecraft just not quite so blocky as the vanilla version! Lol!
