Glimm...we would've had fun in school then. So many unfinished ventures (bands..whatnot)
And then you mention poetry...I was published in high school. My poem made the intro.. "The Writer and the Mind"
Lol! I won a little poetry competition on Deviant Art last year with a poem and accompanying photograph, called 'Earth .......', but I'm not giving the full title or you'll hunt it down and have a laugh!
This is a random verse from it to give you a weekend chuckle:
Governmental laws of magical import no longer humming
On the suspended and buried cables of glass and copper,
To lull the placid masses into acquiescent sleep.
No more the science of pixel light and fiery incandescent flickering.
I think I was inadvertently prophesying the demise of my texture pack, or drinking too much!
When i say a little competition, I mean 'little', so nothing as grand as being published!
Haha! I bet we'd have had a great time! :biggrin.gif:

That grave looks strangely inviting, and the grass looks like someone's been using my grasscolor biome!
Incidentally it's a tad disappointing for such a gothic writer. I know he wasn't a wealthy man by the time he died, but you'd have thought his resting place would have been a little more imposing than that. :sad.gif:
Gestank, you need to make him a fitting monument with your Lovecraftian pack.
LOL @ Glimm...now that's a project...I would be tarred and feathered if I did it wrong though
:biggrin.gif:
Here's me published poem:
The writer and the mind
Like thundering clouds and rain
The drops that define the Earth
The words that define thought
Resulting in distortion
Or clarity
For what it's worth...there you go

I am being attacked by my 6 month old...Lol.. so short on words...
Ha ha! That's more like it, but I'm still imagining something even bigger. Being attacked by a six month old, that brings back memories...wait 'till your being attacked by a 9, 14 and 18 yr old all wanting their allowance, now that's financially distracting!
Hey Glimmar, I just released my pack I was telling you about! Just dropping by to tell you thanks for the inspiration and letting me use your stuff as placeholders! And thanks Gestankfaust for the pillows! You are both wonderful artists. Btw, Glimmar, when are those new plates going to be released?
I took a break last night and revisited the 16x16 project. (I know...funny break) But I noticed you released the alt stone and ores earlier this week. This is the match to the cobble Pipe and I use and what I used for the 16x. So I did the stone and it looks great!
But the rest didn't work out without destroying the details or looking funky and not tiling well (I was tired too :tongue.gif:). So I was wondering...so they turn out better...are you able to better translate these to 16x16? I guess maybe the ores aren't that important...but I'm picky when i do stuff :biggrin.gif:
WHAT!
MINI MINECRAFT?
that hole into the mountain looked like a hole where a normal sized door could be.
and the grass blocks looked like 1/8 of a normal block.
i know its a 16x16 pack ,but it looks like a mini minecraft after you have played with the 32x32 textures.
Another quick question, how do I use 'every single block'? I feel like I'm missing out cuz I don't know how to get some of the blocks you have shown on your terrain.png. Like the two blocks below the diamond and the gold blocks for example.

Actually, the added blocks below that you mention, cannot be used until Notch adds them back into the game or unless you are like me and cut/paste them onto something else in the terrain.png. They are the sides and bottom of the ore blocks. Think "sand stone". For some reason, Notch disabled the use of these I think around Halloween.
@D95 - What's funny, is that when you play with the 16x16 textures on, it seems like nothing's changed, but you get that "mini Glimmar" thing. Makes me chuckle in some areas when noticeable.

Been a while since I've checked this... lotsa cool new stuff. Thinking on the redstone change, though, I had an idea. Black shouldn't get covered up by the colored overlay, right? So why not make redstone pipes that are clear glass tubes, using just black for the iron/metal fittings. Then the pipes will "fill" with liquid redstone when active. I'm absolutely horrible at pixel thingies or I'd do it m'self. What're the chances of at least getting that as an optional bit? I'm much more fond of the pipes than the wires, to be honest.

'Mini Glimmar'! Love it! Lol! All this talk of merging and miniaturisation is getting me very worried! I feel like I'm fading away.

Someone'll Ninja me on this, but to explain:
We all would prefer to have the old type of redstone back, but Notch changed it drastically at the last update. He removed the possibility to have a different texture for redstone when it's in it's off state!! Hence the horrible black silhouette we're stuck with now. Most texture artists hate the new system, because it vastly reduces the possibilities for creativity. So no brass pipes anymore, other than as wall paintings.
To make the best of a bad job I've been forced to make something that is pretty inconspicuous when in it's off state...hence the thin black wire. Sigh!
So sorry, mate. There are some threads on the subject knocking around, but I haven't time to hunt the links down. I'm sure someone else will put a link up.
@ Everyone: Hope to upload some brand new biomes today that fixes the grey areas on grass and foliage!

The way the new redstone works is that the game overlays a red coloring on top of the greyscale that's in teh texture file now, just like it does with biome grass and leaves. What I meant was that you could make the "brass pipes" into "glass pipes" instead, using black for the fittings, since an overlay shouldn't mess up black (or very very dark grey) colors. You can use varying shades of grey for the dirtyish glass of the pipes. Then when it's off, it looks like empty glass tubing, and when it's on, the red overlay makes it look like liquid redstone flowing through the glass tubing.
I'll give it a quick shot m'self to see if it works.

I'll be very interested in the results, mate. As far as I know, you'll only get jet black, for the 'off' state, no varying shades of grey. However, I'd love you to prove me wrong. :smile.gif:
Ah, hell... yeah, they apparently overlay it with black in "off". Which makes no sense whatsoever... anyway, nevermind. I don't usually play with redstone much, so I hadn't noticed that bit.
Oh my god, sir. I'd love to buy your paintings O.o but I'm sure I live nowhere near you. And as for your texture pack, it changed my minecraft expirience. For that, I thank you.

I was kinda hoping you new something I didn't, but lets just hope Notch changes the redstone again, for the better in the next update. :smile.gif:
