Yep, it has it's own biome triangle in the same layout as the grass and tree ones. Here's what the default triangle looks like:
Pretty simple, if more detail was added in it could become incredible though. For example, those weird-ish circles that showed up on the grass before? Those could make realistic looking oil spills. Make the swamp section really green and you've got moss filled water. The possibilities seem pretty endless. o-o
Thanks, aTempesT.
Those are mighty fine pics. Thanks for sussing the problem out. I need to upgrade to Modloader 5 because I've really wanted to put Risugami's Shelves mod to use. So I'll have to start over tonight I think.
Even though I couldn't get it to work with Modloader4 I'd already had a good look at the triangle. Knowing what I know now about the biomes (which isn't very much!) I'd be very wary of any wild colour variations like I'd attempted with the land based biomes. Any differences in colour that aren't extremely gradual will result in blocky colour changes that will, I can only imagine at this point, look really odd close up in the water. From a distance they'd look like oil spills, but close up they'd be glaringly and unaturely very patchy, which for most might spoil the look of the water. :smile.gif:
I'd have to live with it for some time before I felt like I could make some valuable changes. I really like those deep green and blue areas though and now we live in the age of airships it's another wonderful beautifying element to the landscape.
This past few days flying around in my airship has made me appreciate what an awesome variety of landscape Notch has created for us. The game's worth it's money as a simple 'travel' game, let alone the fact that we can explore the subterranean regions, Nether and build vast architectural empires. It's just a shame that Notch hasn't implemented half of this new stuff already, or come up with a means of properly supporting all the mods sooner. It's a very busy life he's leading at the mo'!
Gestank, I imagine for your new texture pack this would be a godsend for creating areas of bloody sea, whilst still retaining areas that look more natural. I bet you will come up with some interesting edits! :smile.gif:
I'm back out again for a few hours, but I'm looking forward to installing this waterbiome mod now! :biggrin.gif:

Shouldnt there be a warning that this will delete the Default pack on a mac? I downloaded this and Stankes Beta pack and used the patcher and it deleted the default pack....

getting the default pack back is easy, you can delete your bin then start up minecraft again, and also i believe someone posted a default pack on here somewhere.

@Glimm - You are correct sir!! Well I dunno about bloody..."BLOODDY FRIGGIN COOL!" maybe :biggrin.gif:
Seriously though, that water biome mod has me excited to revisit my water for the new pack. Imagine the partially submersed "stuff" you could build . Steam Punk...or Cthul!

You have my sympathies, Kicooi, for being fearful that something has changed your copy of Minecraft, but this happens for any HD texture pack in the texture pack section when you run xau's MC Patcher, it really is nothing to worry about if you own a legal copy of Minecraft. When you want to go back to a 16x16 pack just redownload a fresh copy of Minecraft.
The cause of any change to Minecraft is due to xau's MC Patcher at the point you choose to run it, my texture pack is not to blame. However, I would also like to point out that, unlike many texture pack authors, I do and always have, included a warning directly beneath the texture pack download links about the use of any mods:
"At the outset...any mods I recommend are used by you at your own risk. I've used them mostly without any problems at all, but the responsibility is on you to read the relevant mod thread and sensibly back-up your Minecraft 'bin' and 'save' files before making any changes you may later regret."

I'm wanting to say that you can reset it just by re-running the MCPatcher, but don't select a texture pack. Not entirely sure about this, but I'm fairly sure this works (accidentally did this a while back). Only problem is that you'll have to re-run it whenever you want to switch texture packs.
Heya Glimmar...I'm redoing my kz.png (just the basic one for now) and was wondering if I can include stuff from yours? Mostly, the pipe organ, but some others as well. I'll post mine when it's done but want to know if you are ok with it.

Hey! I have been using this as my default texture pack for a while now and I should have said this much sooner, but here it is anyway. Thank you for this wonderful texture pack! I absolutely love it! You nailed the steampunk style and the textures are top-notch! Pun intended. You, sir, have a talent that has inspired me so much that it gave me the creative spark to start working my own pack. So once again, thank you for this excellent pack!
P.S. Are there any tips you would give to someone making a texture pack?

In my experience one of the problems with re-running MC Patcher without a fresh download of Minecraft, at least on a different texture pack than the one you've just used, is that it doesn't always get things like the compass and watch in a working state again.
Re-running MC Patcher last night to see if it would make the water biome mod work, resulted in my airship and paddlesteamer vehicles disappearing in game, plus all my Xtreme paintings reset to the first painting in the list! pchan's mod was still working mind, but I've got to clamber round hitting all my paintings again to get them back in line! What a life!

just wanted to show how great the biome colours are working for me
That's great, mate! I was beginning to wonder if anyone had bothered using my latest attempts. Hope you continue to like them. Like I said above somewhere, I've just been enjoying flying around looking at places I've seen on the map, but never been in person. Now to get this waterbiome thingy to work. Incidentally has anyone tried out the 'Ruins' mod yet? Until the Shelf mod gets fixed for 32x32 I might give that a try, if Notch doesn't change things. :smile.gif:

With due credit, mate, use anything you want. You've always given me great credit in the past, so I shouldn't even need to mention the 'c' word. I know you are a fellow gentleman artist of great honour. :smile.gif:

Many thanks for that, Croco15. It's nice to know folk like it enough to comment! I know It's not perfect and you can't please everyone, but it makes you feel the time was worth it when at least a few say they've used it. :smile.gif:
Any tips? Lol! If I knew now what was involved in maintaining a texture pack, I probably wouldn't have embarked on this madcap project. The folk you meet on the way by way of comments, make it worth it, because the Minecraft community, by and large, is pretty awesome!
Listen to peoples advice/opinions, but in the end go with what you think is right, because whatever you do to please one, won't suit another. :smile.gif: Flip...that makes me sound like some old Shaolin monk.
Personalised Steampunk Minecart
Here is nearly the last trailing order for personal company minecarts. this one for Tbwulf (accompanied by appropriately coloured icons).
Tbwulf - Crescent Moon
Wasn't sure which way round you wanted the moon, so it's flipped both ways! :smile.gif:
Rename your minecart skin to 'cart' and drop it in the 'item' folder in 'Glimmar's Steampunk' texture pack in your Minecraft texture packs folder (or your texture pack of choice). Make sure you put it in your active texture pack and not the 'minecraft.jar', otherwise everytime you run Minecraft it will get over-ridden by the cart skin in whichever texture pack you're using...meaning you won't see any change.
The icons are colour coordinated with the minecart of your choice, but you don't need to use them to get the cart to work. However, if you want everything to match perfectly, you need to paste these co-ordinated icons over the top of the existing cart icons on the 'items.png' sheet in the 'gui' folder. Use a graphics programme that can handle transparency, like Photoshop, Gimp or Paint.net.
I hope I've got close to what you wanted. Have fun! :smile.gif:
Here's my first pic using Nandonolt's Biome Water mod! Just using the standard watercolor.png file that came with it and it's already absolutely awesome looking!
By happen chance this is a little river that feeds away from my big dock you've seen featured in so many pics here. My dock is now a wonderful blue colour whereas the river, as you can see above, changes to a lovely sunny jungle green and the change isn't anywhere near as harsh as I was thinking it would be.
I've yet to get the airship installed again to have a proper look from the air, but the little trip I took out in a paddleboat showed some other beautiful changes in the distance. This is just an awesome mod I'm saving up until tomorrow (too late now!) to see how it looks with some of my land based biome areas. Almost on a par with a first sight of Mr Messiah's BetterLight mod! Hope the Xtreme Paintings + Punch-a-Pic mods work ok with it.
I've been using the ruins mod for a while now, and I must say it works quite well. However, I haven't updated to the latest version. Anyway, it adds a fair bit of flavor, and you can easily make new templates for buildings. Now we just need to make some steampunkish contraptions to randomly spawn in the world.
