Hey, Glimmar. Do I get that dusty colored stone before or After I finish the airport?
Hoping we're talking about the same alternative stone here, Foomonchoo, but had a mess around and here are a collection of my ores embedded into a more sandy coloured stone that better matches some of the alternative cobble on offer in the OP on page 1 of this thread:
I've put them up here, for others to use with my pack too. :smile.gif:
Now I look forward to seeing this airport finished!
I'm currently working on finishing a stack of new alternative textures and these will be added to that collection.

Rename to 'grasscolor' and place directly in your 'misc' folder in the 'minecraft.jar' file.
Rename to 'foliagecolor' and place directly in your 'misc' folder in the 'minecraft.jar' file.
It is necessary to place these directly into your 'minecraft.jar' file
Hi m8 , need a bit of help here , I've tried clicking on any executable jar files starting with one just called "minecraft" each one says exactly the same , that it's invalid or corrupt , So I can't add those .
I do see the old version of MrMpatcher still sitting in the minecraft folder , don't know if thats conflicting , have'nt used it since upgrading to 1.3 minecraft though .
Any help would be greatly appreciated .
Oh and when I dragged those onto my desktop to rename , they were already named what you say change them to , is that right . Thanks .
Just dropping in to let Glimmar and company know, I'm going to a cosplay/anime convention in late May, and I've decided on my cosplay. I'll be going as a steampunk miner straight from Glimmar's wild world! Truth be told, by friend is going as a creeper and I made a diamond pickaxe with no further plans, when it hit me I should dress to match Glimmar's texture pack! I'll post pictures when the time comes, but I thought I'd mention it now since I've been so inactive here lately. Between college and job hunting, it seems I have no time for minecraft anymore T_T

Hi, mate.
That's fine if the grass and foliage biome files downloaded and are correctly called 'grasscolor' and 'foliagecolor' (.png files). It's common to instruct anyone downloading images to rename them as the image hosting website sometimes has it's own naming conventions when they are stored there.
First and foremost, DO backup your Minecraft 'saves' folder, found in the .minecraft folder (not to be confused with the 'minecraft.jar' file). This is in the same place as your 'bin' file where you seem to have correctly found the executable 'minecraft.jar' file.
Now, although I said you need to drop the files into the 'misc' folder of the 'minecraft.jar' file, you do need the services of an 'archiver' programme like 'WinRar' or even better '7-Zip' (which is free) to open the said .jar file. You can't just open that file by double clicking it...that's why you get the 'invalid or corrupt' message.
To open the 'minecraft.jar' using 7-Zip, you need to right click it, select 7-Zip in the menu and then 'Open archive'. You then see a lot of folders and other files (called 'class files'). Find the folder called 'misc' and drag and drop the 'grasscolor' and 'foliagecolor' files into it...this just replaces the grass and foliage files that are already in there. If you've done this successfully, close all the windows down and run Minecraft. :smile.gif:
Let me know how you get on. Even though I could make up another version of Glimmar's Steampunk texture pack, you won't see the benefit of things like new biome colours, unless you redownload a fresh copy of Minecraft, drop the new texture pack in the Minecraft Texture Packs folder and patch with xau's MC Patcher.
It's a shame that the texture pack system put together by Notch isn't more friendly towards HD packs, but it's always wise to start afresh by clearing out the .minecraft folder after backing up your 'saves' folder of course, so that zau's M C Patcher is patching a fresh copy of the game. Otherwise things like the compass sometimes don't get patched properly.
However, in the meantime if you can drop the biome color files into the 'misc' folder, it's a little quicker than going through the hassle of a fresh Minecraft download!

Spot on , thanks a lot , really appreciate it :smile.gif:
I never knew about 7-zip etc , downloaded it and put those biomes straight in , no problems whatsoever :smile.gif:

Hope you have a great time at the convention, mate. I'm looking forward to seeing pics 'cos I can't imagine how, or what, from Glimmar's Steampunk could inspire a costume! Lol! Think again, mate, I might ruin any chances you might have of winning a prize! I don't want that responsibility on my head.
Anyways, take care and hope you find some time in the near future to get back into Minecraft!
@ Nodders: Glad to help, mate. I'm not always able to direct folk out of a tricky Minecraft problem, so it's nice when I do!
I didn't know this mod existed! I'm not sure I'd have the time to support it, and I'm a little tired of biomes editing at the moment, but I'm certainly gonna wing over and see what this mod is all about. Does sound very interesting.
I just don't get the time to browse the Mod section these days, ever since Texture Packs split off, I'm no longer aware of new developments. It's probably a good thing really, as I can't even find the time to finish off my own pack! Lol! (that's because I keep getting distracted with airships and minecarts and other gadgety goodness)
Have just tried this mod out, because I loved what I saw in the mod thread, but haven't been able to get it to work so far. :sad.gif:
Will persevere on the morrow, but I've got to take my youngest to hospital and it will be a whole day thing, so I won't get much chance for the next 24 hours. :smile.gif:
I love this pack, but in the one I'm using (1.9.1 I think) the netherack looks like flowing water. i really preferred the rusty metal plates. Was the water intentional?

It worked for me, I put the mod into my minecraft.jar but not sure if it conflicts with other mods. I can post more screenshots if you want to see some more examples .

Did you patch with Xau's Patcher? That should fix it.
Also, Glimmar, sorry for my absence, I have been busy with school and my own minor dabbling in texturing.

As Tlos describes below, don't forget all texture packs with pixel resolutions greater than Notch's original 16x16 pixel textures need to have xau's 'MC Patcher' programme applied. If you don't apply the patch you will see many other graphical glitches besides water in the Nether...fire on bricks and gold blocks, compass not working, custom water not animating, etc etc. It would be great if Notch just accepted that everyone who plays his great game is different...some like it low res and old school and some like Very hi res with all the shiney shaders and gloss, and me...I like it somewhere inbetween and not too sparkley, so that epic sized constructions look good without overwhelming unintentional tiling. Sometimes 'less' really is 'more' - too much rich texture and variation in something like stone or cobble really can be like too much cake! :biggrin.gif:

Real life and especially school is always going to be more important even than Minecraft! :smile.gif: Glad to hear you're dabbling with textures, that's always a good sign. It's infectious and addictive though, mate!

I'd love to see pics, Jenova. :smile.gif:
The only mods I've got round to using so far, due to the pressures of texturing, are: Airship, Paddlesteamer, Xtreme Paintings and Punch-a-Pic and of course Modloader. I can't imagine they will conflict and it's not as if anything locked up. On my first go at dropping the class files into the 'minecraft.jar' and the 'watercolor.png' file into the 'misc' folder, everything ran fine, I just couldn't find any biome changes to water anywhere in my extensive world. I tried a fresh world and passed through a few different land biomes with water showing no change. :sad.gif:
I'm assuming I've got the files in the right place and I didn't need to select or deselect anything with xau's Patcher. Anyways, it was just a quick attempt last night and I'll have a proper read of the appropriate thread late today. Any pointers would be appreciated though, just incase in my sleep deprived stupor I've overlooked some obvious step.
I shouldn't really be here at the mo', but just had a few minutes before nipping off to the hospital! :smile.gif:
I just tried out the biome water and I had the same problem you are having where it would run fine but the water wouldn't change. It seems that it requires modloader v5, so since I was (and I assume you are) using v4 it wasn't working. Once I switched to v5 it worked fine for me. (I use airship and too many items though I don't believe your other mods would conflict.)
Here are some pics of it in action from my steampunk world, I think you could do some amazing stuff with this, maybe some oil slicked areas even. :wink.gif:
Yep, it has it's own biome triangle in the same layout as the grass and tree ones. Here's what the default triangle looks like:
Pretty simple, if more detail was added in it could become incredible though. For example, those weird-ish circles that showed up on the grass before? Those could make realistic looking oil spills. Make the swamp section really green and you've got moss filled water. The possibilities seem pretty endless. o-o
