can i make a non-minecart related texture request since your doing custom textures for people?
Well, you can, but whether or not I'll do it is another thing! :smile.gif: I'm rushed off my feet as it is and the minecart personalisation event was a one off. I might do something like it again when I've a little more time, but I'm not really looking to personalise everything or anything on request.
oh ok then i thought you were still taking minecart requests. other than that i love how the minecarts turned out keep up the great work.
Check back often though, incase I have a bit of free time and fancy doing some more personalised carts or even airships, when I get myself sorted. :smile.gif:

Wow Glimmar your generosity never ceases to astound me. All the personalized minecarts so far are
immaculate. Im sure the rest will be as well. I hadn't been around for a bit due to the wait on Fancy Pack to
be updated. Im so happy that it is. That and Ive been helping Skeight beta test his new website.
I think he is doing great work over there. Sharing maps will certainly be easier once his site goes live.
Im hoping to make another video of the airship soon, but it may longer than I thought. The farm you see
at the end of the previous airship video you featured on your OP was tragically lost during the update to 1.3_1
Thankfully all my structures were still there though.
Well any who, I have to go for now. I have to get outside to build a raised bed garden.
Thanks again for all your awesome work!
Thanks, mate! :smile.gif:
On the question of raised beds in the garden. Me too! :smile.gif: I love spring time approaching, then I can get to work outside again. Just been readying the green house for seeds etc. Then to real landscaping (no high speed Minecraft spade though!) I should warn everyone I'll be spending less and less time on Minecraft as the weather improves here. Hence the flurry of activity to try and get a few new things out the door. After that, just a trickle and a look in at update times. :sad.gif:

Thank you, mate. :smile.gif: Still a long way to go though.

I check this thread almost every day because there's always something new and interesting to read here :smile.gif:
Like these custom minecarts, super nice to offer people that btw, has made me interested in reskining and textures again...for a couple of days. As said, this thread is always inspiring!
Thanks, haxjagarn, I appreciate the support. Comments from like-minded folk goes a long way to keeping the enthusiasm bubbling!
Will there ever be personalized airships in the near future?
Some limited edition one's, perhaps. Check back often, 'cos I'm not going to take advanced orders, sorry. :smile.gif:
As regards the personalised carts I've just done. I'll put the different cart designs up in the OP minus the personal initials, for all to use. :smile.gif:

Sweet. I was inspired and made my own cart in the spirit of the thread. The "M.D." somehow seems so professional. =)
Now all we need is someone to make a mod that allows for multiple minecart designs to be installed at once. Randomly choose one of the textures whenever you place a minecart, allow for multiple designs on the rails at once. Anyone here good at coding?
Thanks for the cart textures Glimmar, they look great.
Cart Depot here I come!
My pleasure, mate. It's good work avoidance tactics too! :smile.gif:

Now that would be wonderful! Combined with the 'MinecartMania' mod we'd have a railway heaven!
By the way, thank you for using my sig, it looks great combined with your awesome airship link. How'd you manage to fit those side by side? When I've tried to get anything else along side the airship and paddlesteamer buttons they drop down onto the next line!

i don't know if i made a mistake but i cannot see spiders.
The spider is there in the texture pack, but I must admit I play on peaceful all the time, so if something has happened since the last update, I might have missed it! Anyone else care to confirm? Gestankfaust made the spider, so I'll just blame him! Only joking, mate! :smile.gif:
Well, I've found myself in the unique situation in being spawned in probably what I found to be one of the more prettier looking worlds ever rendered... and I do not wish to soil it. However, I do think it would be a great exploration point for airships!
I enjoyed it so much, I renamed the world "Northwest Passage". I have the world seed for it if you wish. Once I map the territory, you'll be able to see it for yourself after getting up Landmarks.

Well, I guess I just got lucky. There is a width limit to the signatures, and anything wider will get knocked down to the next line. I resized the Airship one to be the same height as yours and put them one after another on the sig, and they just happened to fit with no problem. However, I don't think I'd be able to fit anything else on that line, unless I went and shrunk each of them to allow another button.
I'm pretty sure Glimmar includes some alternative textures at the bottom of the terrain.png - you could always swap them out for something you'd prefer.

Rename your minecart skin to 'cart' and drop it in the 'item' folder in 'Glimmar's Steampunk' texture pack in your Minecraft texture packs folder (or your texture pack of choice). Make sure you put it in your active texture pack and not the 'minecraft.jar', otherwise everytime you run Minecraft it will get over-ridden by the cart skin in whichever texture pack you're using...meaning you won't see any change.
The icons are colour coordinated with the minecart of your choice, but you don't need to use them to get the cart to work. However, if you want everything to match perfectly, you need to paste these co-ordinated icons over the top of the existing cart icons on the 'items.png' sheet in the 'gui' folder. Use a graphics programme that can handle transparency, like Photoshop, Gimp or Paint.net.
I hope I've got close to what you wanted. Have fun! :smile.gif:

What do you guys think about changing the textures of netherplate/rack and cobblestone? Because first of all I hate building with something that burns so easy and most of all because cobblestone is much easier to obtain. And then we could build all those great buildings in SMP without cheating :smile.gif: And btw. I don´t like the cobblestone texture :wink.gif:
Regards
-El-
The first part of your post is quite a good idea for those who play SMP, and I'd be tempted to put up an alternative terrain.png in the OP at the top, but you kind of put me off doing something with the second part of your post! Lol! :smile.gif:
As furyofaseraph said, it's really not that difficult to swap out a texture you don't like and drop in another texture in it's place. Glad you like the Netherplate though! :smile.gif:
LOL damn, I should have let the poor cobblestone alone, I knew it :wink.gif:)
I would do it myself if I had any clue on how to. And sorry mate, you did and still do an awesome work, really do not want to make you mad :smile.gif: Just thought it would be a good idea, that´s all...
for you :smile.gif:
Lol! Everyone likes different things, don't worry! :smile.gif:
I still think your idea of replacing the cobblestone for SMP play is a cool idea and I'm kinda intrigued how the world will look in places with easy access to Netherplate, so don't worry, mate, here you go:
Just rename the above to 'terrain' and drop it into the root of my texture pack, replacing what's in there and away you go. :smile.gif:
I keep promising I'll do more cobblestone (really 'rock' textures to be precise as my cobblestone are 'real' cobblestones! ) and more metal textures for swapping around, but I keep going off at tangents. Never a dull moment in Minecraft graphics!
Swapping those two textures for building sounds like a good idea… but I have to ask what would happen when you try to make cobble slabs using the nether-plate for cobble. Might that looks a bit… off?
Thank you very much! I just did the same and tried to swap the textures simply using paint but even if my file looks the same as yours the torches have a weird black glitch and yours works perfect! THANKS!
for you :smile.gif:
Paint doesn't support transparencies, as it doesn't have an alpha channel. Therefore, everything that would normally have a clear background (ie around torches, through glass, etc) would show up as white or black, depending on what software you were using and what the settings are set to. You'd need to use Paint.net, GIMP, or Photoshop for it to work properly (first two are free, third is… not quite so free).

With doing the carts I've not even time to test that out. Would be interested to see a pic? :smile.gif:
I have an idea for another quite extreme texture pack from this, so -El- has provoked me to some good thinking. Not that I've time to develop it...perhaps when I reach retirement age! Lol!

Unfortunately, I don't have my main computer at the moment. Working off my laptop, which still has 1.2_02, so I can't get a screenshot up anytime soon. If anyone else has a chance though, it would be interesting to see. To get around it, you could probably do something similar to what you have with the alternate textures 2 below the G or the L on that edited sheet of yours. Maybe just shrink down the nether-plate to be 16x16 and put 4 of them in a square. It should look fairly decent, and still keep the feel of the nether-plate even with the slabs.
Just thought of changing a few things around on my terrain sheet when I get back. Gonna try changing the hue of the lava (maybe use one of the alternate lavas) to be an acid green, and to modify the Nether-plate with an oxidized-copper look. May change the cobblestone and other textures around a bit as well, possibly making the stone one of the alternate nether-plates, while cobblestone could be a more "refined" metal. Anyway, that's just a thought I had. I may post a copy of the terrain file once I get around to working on that (got a bunch of homework to do in the meantime).
