Hey there
im pretty new to the whole texture pack stuff but im makin a bioshock-esque tp and was wondering if i could borrow the odd texture here and there
when i make the post ill be sure to give you credit where its due =]
By all means, mate. With due credit of course in the 'OP' and 'readme'. (especially If my textures are still in your pack when you get to the stage of uploading). If you use my graphics in a major way I would expect a correspondingly large credit too! Lol!
Also, if you decide to ask for donations at some stage in the future, you would need to remove my graphics before doing so, as I currently don't ask for anything in return for my labours! :smile.gif:

Ha ha! Most probably never, mate, but as I'm finding more and more texture packs who do this with bit's and pieces of my graphics included, without permission, when I make a point of not having a donation button, it's annoying to say the least! :sad.gif: Not really in the spirit of fair play, lets say!
Man, I leave for a few weeks, and I've got spectacular airships with correspondingly spectacular airship textures, steamboats, and time-bending mattresses to drag me back in! You people are killing me with all this awesome content!
Ye Gods man, don't you sleep?!

Yes he is using a large number of my new items, without having asked permission or giving any credit in his OP! I will have a quiet PM word first and see what his response is! Thanks mate!
he has "* This version of the pack has item placeholders by Glimmar and other artists. This items will not be in any future versions of the pack. glimmar's steampunk which was the source of many placeholders can be found here" by the download link... unless that was added because of your PM, in which case disregard :smile.gif:

I didn't see that line before, and I carefully read through the whole OP. Also, the OP was edited a couple hours ago, some time after Glimmar sent the PM, so I'm going to guess that he had added that line in response to the PM.

History did respond in a very positive way and we are on good terms. He was very decent about apologising and explaining how they ended up in his pack, so I'm happy with how things stand.
The last thing I want to do is stomp around putting on 'airs and graces' (I'm most definately not entitled to do that!) on a forum full of fellow enthusiastic Minecrafters. I really like History's pack and the way in which he has dealt with Doku's original idea. That was a difficult task to take on board bearing in mind the original controversy over whether Doku would complete it or not.
It's not a nice feeling to think someone might be using your own work, but I believe History when he says that wasn't his intention. He's as hard pressed as any other pack developer and getting offered things right left and centre, bearing in mind how popular a theme he is tackling.
So I'm on with the next thing now. I think I need to take a bit of a rest, but I do want to fix the grass biome colours to give folk a choice between my extreme versions, a 'softer' version and perhaps some experimental ones too! Oh and I better not forget the 'item' icons too!
Look out for my surprise offering of a texture in pchan3's next update for his airship mod, and no it's not the 'gyrocopter'! Lol!
Oh! Hope you like my new sig. I got frustrated waiting for my old sig to be fixed, little realising it was down to my use of 'img' instead of 'simg'. Only realised this after I'd made a new sig and uploaded it to a different image store (ImageShack) and it still wasn't appearing! I hate change when I get into a routine and I've always been happy with the speed and ease of uploading stuff to 'scrnshots.com' so now, realising my mistake I might be able to continue with my old favourite and use ImageShack as a backup when there's another 'Phishing' scare!
@ D1g1talDragon and sword dancer: Thanks guys, and the rest of you for your compliments :]
I've been meaning to post this for like 2 days now, Glimmar i love your new signature image, pretty sexy.
Thanks, Xytherea. With the whoopsy-daisy over phishing and images, I decided it needed a bit of love and attention. If anyone would like to use it, here is the code:

Thought/suggestion: Change the gold to be brass. Make all the gold items into experimental steam-powered devices (prone to catastrophic failure, hence the low durability). Make them similar to the Diamond version, just with Brass, ie Brass is the experimental, Diamond is the finalized, safer version.
I tend to remember someone had started tweaking the names of some of the items to better fit this texture pack, so that shouldn't be too hard to change (just replace "Gold" with "Brass"). Also, could probably change "Clock" to "Chronometer".
Hey, I need a little help with a certain texture (for my own personal use but if i can get it working I'll release it for an alt texture upon request). I'm trying to turn the dark wood into a perforated copper pipe, but I can't get it to be transparent without it having an "X-ray" effect on any block next to it.
Example:
As you can see, it works fine when not placed next to a block, but if it's on top of or next to anything, it make said block see through. This might be kind of cool for some uses (X-ray gizmo instead of a sign?) but it's rather annoying to me. Partial transparency doesn't work, I've tried and it appears as a solid color.

think you could put "#1 Fan" on it? :tongue.gif:
Haha! Lol! That's pushing it! :smile.gif: I'll see what i can do, but it won't be quick and you realize this goes against all my principles of modesty! :biggrin.gif:

Those are nice ideas, ksheep. I'm not sure how far I'd want to take that, but it would link in with many other things. Mmmm, I will think on all this.
As regards the language file for the game, I was looking at it just yesterday. The more I looked to changing some of the things, the more it worried me that it would be a return to before the days of having the pop-up identifier, when newcomers used to complain saying they didn't know what everything was in my pack, blah, blah! So I'm really not sure now. However, as it would have to be manually applied anyway, I suppose my worries are a bit pointless really, it could just be an optional file in my 'extras' folder in the pack. :smile.gif:

Here's the actual texture:
It's not possible, mate. this will happen with any texture that doesn't have 'transparency' like the glass or ice, etc. The best you would be able to do is by illusion, ie. painting it in such a way as if there were dark holes in it, but it would still have to be solid. Sorry ssaint! :sad.gif:
The FancyPack modder made a series of stained glass blocks as a mod. You'd probably be able to make one of those blocks behave the way you want, but obviously you'd need the mod active.
Best of luck! :smile.gif:
On a positive note, you could make an x-ray machine using this principle with one of the spare wool blocks and you'd be able to look deep underground for ores, etc..

Short answer, you can't do that with that block. There are only a few blocks that properly support transparency and the wood blocks are not one of them. Your best bet is to make one of the 1x1 pictures into the texture you want and then place those pictures around a glass block.
For reference, the things that support transparency are: Glass, Leaves, ice, water, and all non block placeable objects. (Doors, beds, mine carts, tracks, etc.)

Blue 'Company' Minecart Variation for Glimmar's Steampunk
Rename to 'cart' and place in the 'item' folder in Glimmar's Steampunk Texture Pack.
Suitable coloured icons for the 'item' sheet. You'll need to paste these in yourself! :smile.gif:
d95 requested a blue minecart. I've gone one better and created a new type of cart. I call it the 'Company' minecart. It is possible to have two initials (at a tight pinch 3) on each side of a coloured minecart...choice of cart and decoration colour possible too.
please note: no variation on the standard decoration (the gold lines) is being offered...only it's colour).
So... for a limited time only...let me know if you want a personalised 'Company' minecart. :smile.gif: No promises, no guarantees, because after a short while I'll have to get back to working on other things. If there's a rush, I'm limiting this offer to the first 20. :smile.gif:
Just so there's no confusion:
Are you asking for a personalised minecart? If so, read the limitations of the offer...2 (at a pinch 3) initials. My Minecart, choice of minecart colour, and choice of decoration colour. No variation of cart design, no variation of decoration design. Simple and sweet as listed and illustrated in the accompanying pic here and at the top of my OP on page 1.
