This is just sublime, I love it all, never was a huge fan of themed texture packs, until I saw this.
The main reason it's so good is that it has not just been thrown together, but is a well balanced, carefully though out work, I'm not surprised that it is taking time, there is a lot going on here, and works of art require time and patience.
My only worry is that now I will have to actually build stuff instead of running about caves or digging out little caves in hillsides, since a pack this good simply demands grand designs, and epic settings to show it off :smile.gif:
I don't think I could've said it better than this. This pack is just getting more and more incredible as it goes on. I am incredibly looking forward to the release.
He really has this texture pack's awesomeness all figured out.. Damn you (awesome) Scotch, with your realizations and posts like these! (Even your accent is so darn amazing.)
Awww, you say the nicest things.... careful with that sheep though, us scots have a reputation to live down to :wink.gif:
Aye laddie, we do hae the gift of speech from above, as weel we should, after 'a, we're chosen by the big yin, to live in his ain country :biggrin.gif:
The Big Bang!
Or TNT...nuclear device...boiler...pressure cooker...whatever. Very reliable, just give it a kick if it stops working!
Struggled with this all day today, to try and get the cylinder body of the TNT bomb to curve effectively... and failed! I think I need to lower the top down into shadow to get that illusion of curvature right, but It will have to do for now because I want to move onto the redstone torches and wire. Really flagging with frustration. :sad.gif: I was just hoping to be able to show more for a whole days work!
Not sure about the warning sticker on the side either. It's there for consistency, but it tends to make it look too modern. Without it, and it looks more 'oldie worldie'. When I upload the terrain file I'll include any relevent variations so that you can mix and match. I will try out other ideas in time too.
Edited the 'horn' on the Jukebox as the shading wasn't quite right and also the Redstone ore to give a kind of crystaline growth effect. I guess I'm working too late and dreaming of boils and the seven plagues of hell!! Cobblestone still continues to torture me! Aaaargh!!
I still get a kick from making individual items, more than the landscape elements like rock and cobblestone, and after this terrain file is finished, I envisage continuing to make these 'one-offs' (similarly with paintings in the art.png file), as and when an idea strikes. Doing an entire texture set, with my weakness for fiddling, is a recipe for madness! :ohmy.gif:
I must say, I've been watching this progress for a bit and I'm astounded by how bloody amazing everything looks.
The release of this texture pack is going to be a happy day indeed! Can't wait to see it finished, Glimmar. :3
And then Minecraft will never be the same again. :biggrin.gif:
This looks absolutely fantastic. This may very well usurp the Painterly Pack for me. Excellent work. :biggrin.gif: I'm really diggin' the lamps, doors, and crafting table.
This 100%, especially the bold. The lamps are what sold this for me.
I dig this so so very hard. I like the idea of Nitroglycerin too, though I really like how you did the TNT. You're the artist, after all.
As for the warning sticker, what if it were a stamp? Even a simple [!] stenciled stamp. I think it would keep with the theme.
I've got this texture pack bookmarked, and am looking forward to its completion! But that said, I'm glad you're taking your time, giving us updates, but also making sure it suits you before unleashing it on us :smile.gif:
I would've expected the TNT to become crates of Nitroglycerin. Maybe that boiler texture could become an alternate Iron block.
I did consider that, but I just wanted to see if it was possible to make something that looked boilerish and technical to use as another gadget. This was probably a foolhardy excercise in the extreme. I've already blown myself up twice just displaying it in the pick above! I'm getting tired of rebuilding the lawn infront of my little house - not to mention re-arranging all the other items.
Don't worry though, at some stage I'll do a variant with bottles of nitroglycerin. Like I say, I enjoy doing these individual bits and bobs. :smile.gif:
Any other ideas anyone?

That's an excellent idea regarding using a stamp, when I fiddle with the shading on top of the tnt, I'll try that idea out.
I've very limited space for text, so does anyone have an idea what I could stamp on there? I don't want to stamp 'TNT' if I can help it, because that detracts from it's mystery. I can only fit a max of 5 letters and the space is very tight pixel-wise for a symbol.
looking good glimmar, loving that tnt. and could make a nice piece of machinery in my blimp, which would also make things more steam punk (dont play with it or boom)

Personally I'd say just get rid of the sticker and make that gauge larger and more visible with the needle firmly in the red zone. (That is a gauge on the top half of the side yes?)
As for what you could stamp on there if you decide to go that route, FUEL would do the job I think.

Tis far better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit.
The TNT block is looking awesome as a pressure cooker, 'though I'd be hesitant to install it in a kitchen! :tongue.gif:
I had an idea for steampunk-ing the Ghast - A small airship, with a woodburytype of an angry or sad face on the front. The tendrils the Ghast seems to have could even be adapted into exhaust pipes or fans.
That would be awesome.

....That's +100 more rep to you Chris! (And obviously Glimmar too!)
And might I suggest people PLEASE ignore the obvious troll and continue being in awe of Glimmar's phenominal work.

Thanks everyone for your patience. :smile.gif:
as for the TNT yeah it looks flat, that's because it's a cube. idk, it is hard to tell what it really looks like without looking at in game.
do you think you could post just the texture for the TNT, so i could get a better look at it
EDIT: is the block on the right red stone ore?
Cant wait for it!

Hmm, maybe the TNT could say "BOOM", or "!!!"
Or maybe even "SSsss"
