Red Minecart Variation for Gimmar's Steampunk
-snip-
More cart colour variations to follow if there's interest.
Ooh, pretty!
I've been working on a few flatcar variations myself, and designing the furnace and chest around that... Sadly, the pixel size of the cart and the pixel size of the blocks don't quite match up... Still, a few really good ideas came of it.

Oooo! Do you mean it's higher res. than for 32x32 blocks? I still wonder whether or not to increase the pixel count for vehicles myself. I'd love to see your variations sometime, mate!

Actually I'm working with the standard cart and texture sizes, 16x16, and recycling alot of the standard textures for experimental purposes (The old planks are getting around :Notch:) Still, it turns out decently with a bit of foresight, I'll try and get a screenshot right now. Don't go anywhere...
i just opened an account on this forum to show my appreciation for your work ( <-- My appreciation )
i was also pondering, will you, or anyone within your League of Extraordinary Modders, be adding your own furniture; chairs, tables, Grandfather clocks (<-- most wanted) and so on?
and would it be possible to add a painting of Queen Victoria or Abraham Lincoln to be hung above a much needed fireplace? (cant have tea without a painting of our good queen on the wall, its just not British! and I'm sure those in the colonies would like their president on the walls :tongue.gif: )
i cant say i have ever attempted to look at Java code or even thought of doing so but if there are any tool that i could use to help then i would gladly like to contribute by adding these items (well, the paintings at least).
again i think this community is by far one of the best and that it is pure genius
thanks for your time in reading this and any answers you can give
Bazalisk
they dont code the stuff in the take whats already made and add too that. for adding furniture there is a mod in the mapping and modding section that does that. other than that you can probably ask away.
Just want to see how many of my fellow Steampunks have tried out the new "seed" ability for world generation. I must say that it is quite the jump to be able to share the exact same starting worlds so easily now. And if anyone wants a rugged, dry, and craggy land to start anew on, try "Glimmar". I've seen sand-draped mountains, vast domed caves and pools of magma bared on the surface! Worth a look, definitely.
I have! I'm using a "mountain" seed right now, but some interesting ones are 4chan and steampunk imho.
This here is the humble beginnings of my own texture pack... Not much to look at yet, but I wanted some easy proofs of concept before I got in too deep. Had one more picture, but Photobucket was being persnickety. I'll try and load that one in a little bit.
As requested:

That's fascinating, Triskelli! If that's the minecart skin, but without it's sides, that's inspired thinking as a variant! Now I know what you meant by 'flat' bed. The title wasn't sinking in before when you mentioned it, but this has all sorts of potential.

It is indeed the original minecart skin, no external modifications required! Would love to see your take on the idea, I'm still curious if I can get some sort of semi-walled variant. Sadly, there's a little strip of the texture that's reused on the outside wall of the cart that breaks symmetry a bit...

ehem, Glimmar i was wondering if you could do an orange version of the minecart, it would mean the world to me if you could :biggrin.gif:
Orange? It's a bit of a gaudy color, but hey! I'll take a crack at it. Just a recolor of the original and BOOM. Need a little practice before tearing into my own texturepack anyway.

I have a few ideas already formulating due to your inspired thinking out of the box! I just didn't want you to feel like I was running off with your idea and immediately doing something similar! Now I'm set up for producing some colour variants of the green minecart, it would be an ideal opportunity to try out some other cart designs too, especially fitting, as I imagine it won't be too long before pchan3 gets his grey cells around a steam train!
Time, as always is my limiting factor, especially as we get into the spring weather here, as we have a large garden still requiring lots of landscaping (if only it was as easy as Minecraft!) and building, etc. so I'm trying to get as many things out the door here in anticipation of less time available to Glimmar's Steampunk.
Also been doodling some experiments with the biome colours I want to try out. :smile.gif:

Orange Minecart Variation for Glimmar's Steampunk
Rename to 'cart' and place in the 'item' folder in Glimmar's Steampunk Texture Pack. Suitable coloured icons for the 'item' sheet. You'll need to paste these in yourself! :smile.gif:

Hmm, dark orange with gold piping looks better than I expected. I personally would have chosen a lighter orange with black piping but there's no accounting for taste.
If you DO make any more variations, the colors necessary to round out the "Vicar's Engines" set would be black and blue with gold piping. Most other colors would look better with black piping or a different style altogether, but don't get carried away!

I did do a lighter version first, but I couldn't get away from a DayGlo luminous orange effect.
Ha ha! I always get carried away...usually I escape within 24 hours, but now I'm going to have to make another layer for the cart piping.

Word of warning ! Do not enter anything in the box that pops up as it is an 'Phising attack', I have contacted the moderator for this section
Thanks, mate! I've noticed more and more of these recently.
Crap, I did enter something... Do you know what the results of the phish are? Granted, I don't use the same codes and usernames for personal info that I use for socializing, but I'd like to know if my forum accounts become spambots...
I'm assuming everyone is suffering loss of picture goodness?! :sad.gif:
@ ssaint! Nice ideas, mate. I'd just not considered turning my airship into an alternative boat design and it was sitting under my nose all that time! Love the black pitch-like one. :smile.gif:
@ Gestankfaust: Glad you joined, mate. Will see you there sometime. It should be a cool place for your work too.

Steampunk Paddle Steamer Working Again for Beta 1.3_01 (thanks to pchan3)!
I'm stumped on that one, mate. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
