Since the redstone torch slides along it, you could make it so it has a large, telescoping pipe that slides over the pipes. Inactive has it in itself. Active has it telescoped out
Glimmar What has happened to mine redstone I was using this texture pack and the copper pipes which replaced redstone are now red tiles with the letter t and s on them whys that?
Also I have an idea for the nether mobs for the ghast you could make it into some form of zepplin and where its mouth is but a canon and for the pigmen make them like foundry workers becuase you said the nether was the worlds biggest iron foundry.
I think I can explain this, it seems that 1.3 may have moved some of the texture positions around. I would have to check, but I think the places where the letters are in spots where the signature was. I had the same problem with pine and birch trees. in 1.6
@ Gestankfaust, ksheep, Tiger4Ruler and everyone: Many thanks for your uploads and help, it is truly appreciated.
This is just a little notice to let you know that I am doing something.
I will use what I can to quickly update the download in the OP, so folks can carry on as close to normal as possible. These will be very basic edits still, so that I can spend the next few days looking at the redstone pipe conundrum, bed, diode, etc., the new halfblocks and how sandstone looks in the landscape (thanks Nethelus).
Gestankfaust, I'll pop that little slime in with the mobs for now and save looking at all the mobs again for another day, but thanks mate, and that vid was hilarious...have just woken up groggy with possibilities and anticipation (but lack of time as usual) and the sight of the slime bouncing around to Disniesque music was a sight for sore eyes
Thanks Tiger, I intended updating the item sheet too, but it's always helpful to have it confirmed where new stuff goes. Again my edit will just be to rip out and paste Notch's graphics in for now, until I have time to get back to properly editing them.
I'll put a notice in the thread title to keep peeps informed!
@ UberKaiser & Cedar1974: check out the posts above for a temporary terrain.png sheet to drop into the texture pack. Use the most recent one, but thanks to Gestankfaust and ksheep for this.
I will be quiet for a while now, while I work on getting the download in the OP back to some sort of normality. :smile.gif:
Thanks again guys for being so supportive. I think all the mature folk lurk round here!
I just wanted to pop in and say that I think your redstone pipes are some of the best ideas out there, and I'm pretty disappointed about this change in the 1.3 update. It also breaks the pack I was personally working on, so I made a topic about it in the suggestion forum: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=191247
If we can get enough texture artists to complain about it, maybe Notch will change it back, or at least adjust the way it's implemented!

I absolutely love all the changes that Notch has introduced with each update, but I have to agree with Wayuki that this particular change to the way redstone dust works, is a complete retrograde step from an aesthetic point of view. It seems strange to implement something as beautiful as MrMessiah's BetterLight, only to spoil one of the highlights of Minecraft, the look of Redstone circuits when active and inactive.
I really hope something can be done about this. I have yet to come up with a solution with my own texture pack and although HD texture packs are unsupported by Notch and the team, every theme pack of any size is affected by this step to a greater or lesser degree, and Minecraft's imaginative beauty is certainly affected. :sad.gif:
I understand if Notch is wanting to curtail imaginative use of Minecraft by other texture artists, but I cannot believe that was his intention, nor would I think he would wish to do that!
I know my opinion is of little consequence, but I genuinely hope this can be rectified to allow artist's/user's imagination to flourish again. :smile.gif: If you haven't already, you might want to head over to Misa's thread, because it doesn't sound like she particularly likes the changes to the redstone dust either, but I wouldn't wish to wrongfully interpret her words! My apologies if I have, Misa. :smile.gif:
If anyone here agrees, please head on over and support Wayuki, I certainly do.
in he picture with all the new textures whats that cobweb?
It's something that never really got used. People have speculated that the cobweb in the original terrain.png (which may have been removed by now) was intended for use as an attack graphic by spiders, but nobody has ever found a part of minecraft that uses it.

Just thought you'd like to know, the cobweb IS still in the terrain.png file, even though some other stuff has been taken out or moved (eg. the fire graphics are gone from the terrain sheet, replaced by a pair of red squares that say something along the lines of "FIRE TEX! HDST")
The Redstone textures are black, The brick textures has fire and portal texture on it. What is wrong with this? Also when will the update be ready for the 1.3 update?

Redstone glitch is just weird. you need to run the HD Patcher (OP)
1.3: The day Minecraft took a leap forward with beds and the now pre-installed Better Light Mod, and fell on its face with the horrid way redstone now works.
Anywho, update on the pack I'm working on with the Dieselpunk Mod. Going more WWII-ish than anything (Not my fault, that's Dieselpunk for you), but it's turning out better than I expected. Turned the trunk into a military Footlocker, cake is now "boxed" and is a Cake Ration, and I reworked the TNT to look like a massive group of these:
I'll release a pic pretty soon, however, as I said before, I'm using Glimmar's pack as a stepping stone until I fully get the hang of this. I'm slowly covering up every single texture block required so that I can get through this.
Slow transition from Steam to Diesel. Oh, the times, they are a'changing.
*Terrain File*
Gestankfaust has been a very good sport and shifted and replaced everything around for me on the terrain.png file and that's saved me time to think about this blessed 'redstone pipe' problem, amongst other things. So all credit to him for making it possible for us to limp along until I've got some new replacements...and you've even still managed to squeeze my name inbetween too. Many thanks, mate!
One problem with this: It appears that the bed and the redstone have been shifted over one panel to the right. I went ahead and moved them over into their correct positions.
Under the bed is still pink lol just pointing it out and thanks for the fix!
and is it just my game or no invo icon?
Check further down, mate. There is a more up-to-date version.
I should be working on the upgrade, but your reference to 'invo' icon intrigues me. Can I, dare I, ask what this is? :smile.gif:
I was going to put up a temporary items.png sheet, but decided the time spent on that would be better spent on just doing a proper update, which I'm hoping to finish late tonight, UK time.
Sorry folks! Just not liking what we've been left with for the redstone dust/wiring. Please don't expect miracles. In it's present state the redstone wiring will be pretty bland until Notch decides to fix it! So say your fond farewells to the redstone pipes and welcome in some bland redstone wires and bulbs. :sad.gif:
On a brighter note, the diode is very nice to work with, so hope you'll like what I've done. :smile.gif:
Anyways, back to the drawing board! Lol!
Please visit this thread if you wish to have a more imaginative redstone dust in the game:

Wait are we talking about having crappy dust just so we can see the color change of the wire as its length increases?
Because I would rather just have the pipes and forget about the color change functionality all together. I can count to 15 I don't need the dust to tell me I am getting close to the end. Please keep the pipes! Please!

Well...the problem is "we" aren't given the choice. I'd take just the pipes too, but now MC changes the way it glows and only uses one texture for both. Think pumpkins...cause them to be orange or a dark brown only depending on if they are lit. No texture at all. Pretty much what they did to redstone.

I tried it and it makes my terrain and the trees look weird.

Looks alright to me. I'd say downgrade to 1.2 and run the second latest patcher, or be patient and wait for Master Glimm to get the pack updated.
You'll either have to manually add the items to your own items.png or remove the lines on this one.
