Ugh. The punk's done it more than once, we just didn't catch him the first time. Sorry to jump on the bandwagon, but there's something about poor penmanship that peeves me to no end.
Thanks again all. I hadn't seen the first pack, guess I have my head buried most of the time. I found your last post in mysticraft hilarious (I'd hate to face you in court, Triskelli! )
I would like to state for the record that I in no way encouraged or contacted anyone to flame the guy, whatever his age. If he is young, he perhaps has time to grow up and learn a few rules of courtesy. If old enough to know better, then I find actions like this kind of amoral, because in doing it, means you have no respect for the hard work of others and somehow are lacking a fairly basic human quality of fairplay.
It's sad also, because one of the things that attracted me to Minecraft and these forums was Notch's sense of giving stuff to the community on a regular basis, that was just plain simple food and fun for the imagination. It's that kind of behaviour from a developer that has made Minecraft so huge, and nicking stuff, as inevitable as it is, simply cheapens it all and puts new free original content in jeopardy! But you all know that already. :smile.gif:
Hazah for more adventures in Steampunk Minecraftia :biggrin.gif: Episode Five
[/center]
TimewornDoctor, I'm thoroughly enjoying your vids, but this last one had me on the edge of my seat! It could only happen with a Steampunk texture pack, as what you discovered comes across as plain simple Victorian sci-fi mystery. If you've staged it all, my hat is off to you for a masterful piece of acting, if not, then the hairs on the back of my neck did not rise in vain! :biggrin.gif:
It looks to me like something ominous is going to happen, like you'll suddenly hear a click, followed by a whirring noise and a door will open and who knows what will step out (probably as Tiger4Ruler indicated, some ultimate creeper being). I'd seal that mine shut in layer upon layer of obsidian and brick and post many warding and warning signs all around.
Even on peaceful I get the 'heeby jeebies' at night sometimes. If I had that down at the bottom of the garden, I'd be climbing into my airship with a full inventory and setting the mechanical autopilot to straight ahead for the next day and starting over again! Lol!
Many thanks for showing us the mystery of the... 'Adminium Box'...da daa!
Well, I've been lurking but not posting much...sorry! Running a server is crazy.
Here's some video tours of stuff I've built.
PAS Glimmar (PB-01) a steampunk battleship of the skies. This is part 1, the outside.
[see more vids above or in the OP]
You never cease to amaze with imagination and scale, Piphead! Awesomeness indeed! I simply can't keep up with some of the amzing stuff everyone is doing here, but these will be joining the other vids up top.
Well done and many thanks again mate! I doubt you'll need these: but you could wear them as medals on your Admiral's coat for added effect when stomping around the 'Pas Glimmar'
ps. Love the way you used the alternative chest texture for wood...that worked incredibly well for steps etc. and I really loved the ladder texture by Gestankfaust.
Minecraft bata 1.3 released. you can now make a bed! and sleep on it to make it day. new Delay/Repeater redstone dust blocks and three new half-size blocks. I love this pack and hope u can update for the new blocks :biggrin.gif:
So, I've been messing around with the texture pack for a while, and I finally decided to go ahead and make a new save just to use the pack with, Here's some pics of what I have so far:
So, I'm hosting this on a tiny little private server to play with a friend, and this is part of the first thing he built. It's the hidden port of a little pirate's cave, and you can see the "exit" on the far end. I tested it, and it actually works.
This is the exit from above. Not exactly well hidden, but at the same time, it also isn't painfully obvious.
This is a view of the front side of the fortified city I'm in the process of constructing. I've decided to dub it Glimmarport, in honor of Glimmar, the reason for its existence.
This is pretty much the same view, by night.
This is one of the streets of Glimmarport, adjoining the wall. I think the whole city looks far better by night.
Another street, this time facing one of the bridges that cross the street between buildings.
Another street, this time with part of the harbor visible to the right.
A view of two of the bridges, both crossing to the same building.
This is across the harbor. It's an elevated farm and courtyard in front of what I think will become either a lord's mansion or the city's administrative offices, whichever seems more appropriate once the building is more complete.
A view of the harbor. I loved Glimmar's gate so much I decided to steal it, but then I made a few changes. Due to those changes, another, larger harbor will need to be constructed for the larger ships to be able to dock.

Thanks, mate. :smile.gif:
Just as soon as I can I'll issue an update, but I'll let the dust settle a bit just in case Notch needs to patch something, etc.
@ Glitchfinder:
I thought you'd found your way into 'Glimmar's World' when I saw those walls and that gate, but your towers are nicer than mine. Lol! Nice work, mate!
@ Everyone: Let me know if you have any ideas for the new things in beta 1.3, folks. And don't forget to backup your current 1.2_02 bin and saves, if you want to carry on with the airship, boat and Xtreme paintings, etc. :smile.gif:

You could probably make the bed a steampunky time machine that sends you into the future when morning comes up.
I have one word regarding my suggestion for the bed... Restraints. >:biggrin.gif:
Cause every good (not mad at all*) scientist needs someplace to keep their ... subjects.
*I AM NOT MAD! Who says I'm mad? I'll distill their eyeballs! Er I mean I shal write a strongly worded letter, AND SEND IT BACK IN TIME TO THEIR GRANDMOTHER!!! er ah, send it to the proper authorities, excuse me, I think it is time to replace the air circulation fans.
>_>
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Tis far better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit.
I'm not sure if its possible using textures or not, but I would love to see a leather hammock type of thing. Something that would be at home in the bowels of an old timey ship, or more relevantly, in the cabins of a luxury steam-blimp.

I think a pipe texture with perferated holes would make a nice alternate texture for the "white" trees. Imagine walking across an unexplored peice of map and finding large pipes litteraly growing out of the ground, that small plants have begun to grow out of because of inactivity (to justify the leaves lol).
These would be usefull for mechanical constructions or giant pipe organs. :smile.gif:
can anyone suggest some thing to build so far ive built a lighthouse, hot tub, bed , ice rink , viewing platform , farm, pig spawner drowner, ice room for meat , fire place , painting of nemo piano with chair in from of it , incenerator , chest room , libariay , furnace room , tree farm , portal and finally a strip mine any ideas thx
Airship, Submarine, underwater viewing room, mine cart railway, neither sub railway for long distance travel (1 block traveled in the nether= 8 blocks in the real world), Giant Temple to your choice Deus ex machina, A sewer system, a railway station, The Pit (surface to level 0 hole in the ground), Replica of the Lincoln Memorial, a Factory with running Lava, A hotel, a Saloon, a scene/place from your favorite movie/book/comic

I quite like this idea! However, to be fair to everyone above, it's also got to have restraints, be able to swing like a hammock and look nice in an airship... Right...when I'm arrested for indecent looking beds, I hope someone will vouch for me!
I'm a little disappointed that the redstone pipe system I've lovingly cultivated from Triskelli's original idea way back, plus all the paintings involving redstone pipes, have now just been made reduntant!
It's going to involve a lot of work there and some time. Any ideas anyone for how I can rescue this, because it now looks like the options are far more limiting...oh dear! :sad.gif:

What's the new block by obsidian?
I can't find anything on the item sheet for it, so I imagine it's some new ore(?) to be activated upon in the future. :smile.gif:

Nice idea, mate, but I'm not looking for extra work on top of the new things Notch has presented us with. Lol! I'm a bag'o'bones as it is!
I've been thinking about it, and I actually want to work on a texture pack to compliment your Steampunk pack. It will be Dieselpunk. Mind if I use your 32x32 texture as a stepping stone to get it up and running, Glimmar?
With proper credit, by all means, mate. :smile.gif: Sounds interesting and good luck. It's a hard road though, just ask Gestankfaust and others, take a packed lunch and a thermos!
Awesome, thanks! Hope you won't mind me occasionally bugging you on questions regarding texturing water.
Gestankfaust has been a very good sport and shifted and replaced everything around for me on the terrain.png file and that's saved me time to think about this blessed 'redstone pipe' problem, amongst other things. So all credit to him for making it possible for us to limp along until I've got some new replacements...and you've even still managed to squeeze my name inbetween too. Many thanks, mate!
Good Work!

I don't know how the texture is decided, but that shape and its purpose suggest only one thing to me:

Gestankfausts's StankePack texture pack.
so congrants on somehow controlling the sanity of your underlings glimmar :tongue.gif:
and gest, well done on the temp fix. this is a great pack and i like to see it flourish.
