WHY ARENT YOU DONE YET?!? just release it dude, I dont get why you are holding out on us like this. You should just release it, then update it once a week. It'll at least give us something not to only look forward to, but know that it will be released on a certain date. certantiy is key, making us wait an unknown amount of time has already got me looking at other skins. I may find a better one before yours comes out, then I wont care for yours at all. Pleases be reasonable.
Reasonable? How about you being respectful. Glimmar is working hard to share something with the public. For free. Go find another texture pack then, and quit bothering and harassing the hard-working artist. Geez, how rude and disrespectful....
Glimmar, I appreciate your hard work and effort. Thank you for sharing your work in progress, and I look forward to the finished product!

and keep up the amazing work Glimmar! I can't wait to be making airships and the like

I'm actually working on the Highwind from FFVII, the inside is all done but the inside architecture doesn't correspond with the external architecture. I'm gonna have to add a turn or two so when I build the blimp things and the front, the front of the ship internally isn't facing the side. lol
Giant Horsetails!
My 'reeds' variation - trying something different, but it needs some refinement. Just another little taster before finishing everything.
I've been away for a few days on real life stuff, hence the hiccup in progress.
I certainly don't want to give the impression I'm intentionally 'holding out' in any way. Real world stuff doesn't allow me a great deal of time at the moment, however, I've nearly finished all the plant type elements and other sundry items. Some things are rushed to get this terrain file out the door (I will re-edit these later), but I still want to finish off by spending a little time doing something special for the tnt and jukebox blocks before I upload. The last piece I want to get right will be the redstone torch and wire. I know what I want to do with each of these things now and have plenty of inspiration downloaded from Google. So hopefully just a few more days, then I have a real world Halloween project to complete!
That is one awesome airship, malanius. Certainly inspiring me to carry on with my Steampunk textures. For your sake I really hope my gadgets and gizmos do it justice. I would imagine my doors, at least, will fit your design perfectly.
I very much look forward to seeing anything else you do. My terrain file should be ready fairly soon and I'd love to see what it looks like applied to this fabulous construction of yours. Feel free to post pics in my thread to inspire others with your inventiveness! This applies to everyone, guys! Looking forward to seeing what needs improving in my art to make things work in your constructions.

I would like to throw out there the hope that you'll steampunk-itize the boats as well. I get a bit tired of strait wooden boats...especially now that there is an awesome use for them with the Hoverboat mod (boat as mini-airship!). Just a request, and keep up the good work!
I'll certainly look into this, but probably after the Halloween update. For now I just want to get the terrain file out before then for everyone to have a play with.
Thanks for all the interest and kind comments fellow Minecraftians. Hope you'll like something about it in the end. Don't worry, just swap and change stuff to your hearts content, if it doesn't look right. It's really the gadgety/decorative things I like most and I'm looking forward to seeing what can be done with the paintings in that regard.
Now I'll go silent for a little while and concentrate on the final hurdle!
love the reeds glimmar, can't wait for all this. and I will be sure to post other creation pics soon, and of course once you release this I plan on making a steam punk city with aerodromes and railways (with power minecarts to simulate steam engines).
and Lareh, I do have plans on making a big battleship soon with functioning cannons. I just have to experiment with cannons more .... I keep blowing them up rather than them shooting

Hmm tbh I don't like the Horsetails, I rather imagined the reeds to be like pipeworks etc. rusty sewer pipes etc.,
yours fit the greenish water, but that is just my opinion and I know your work hard on the release, so keep it up! ^^
While I do desire more Steampunkish objects, I feel I share a different perspective on the reeds. Even though it is a fantasy world, and the texture packs aid in creating unique customization, you have to be careful when blending the organic with the inorganic. Especially considering that, with the mushrooms being a complete organic item, it would be confusing to make the organic reeds an inorganic item such as brass pipes. I am sure Glimmar is just trying to maintain a level of consisting in their work in those regards.
I will admit, however, that a Phyrexian-like world that blends the organic and inorganic would be QUITE appealing. Lakes and oceans of glistening oil, metallic flowers and compleated bodies of mobs and what not............
:sad.gif: will you give us like a est. on how long this will take before you will release it?

Roses, Ferns and Saplings
Just another quicky pic to show off the look of the two plants and sapling. I decided to go with ferns and roses, as the choice is so limited.
Ferns because they look good in multiple settings, eg. under and around trees for more realistic forests and sides of rivers/canals, around the entrances of caves, in amongst ruined temple buildings and old red brick factory walls and as interior plants in pots - particularly in a Victorian Steampunk location. They also blend well with the giant horsetails if you're good at randomising your landscapes, especially down by the rivers edge...and hence why I went with the horsetail look for the reeds. Don't forget to throw in a bit of fog and murky green water and you'll be stumbling away over the hills imagining the Hound of the Baskervilles is after you!
Rose bushes because of their ability to look good in formal garden settings as well as in the wild for colour, and again the blood red romantic associations they offer to the theme - plus they also look good in pots too. It would be nice if Notch would allow us a few more botanical specimens, but he's already given me the best game I've ever played, so I'm not complaining any time soon!
Talking about river banks has given me the idea that I may try to give the mature wheat crop a 'bullrushy' feel (still to look like a mature crop plant - perhaps more like corn) so that it can also be used out in the wild and around lakes. For now, to speed up release, I may just leave the corn as the default.

I agree!
There are some really impressive texture packs out there, but this one really appeals to me. Glimmar's doing an awesome job.

I'm wondering, the Smooth Stone, I think it doesn't look very.....steampunky, maybe add a metallic glint? and make it a little more grey?
Just a idea.

Curse PremiumMind you, horsetails are not used to make paper but eh perhaps the giant ones are fibrous enough. :wink.gif:
