I try and try and it doesnt work. sigh. Oh well.
Ill use steamcraft for now.
By the way, maybe u can base your armor off of steamcraft! It's quite well done!
Sorry to hear you can't get it to work! Unless your computer really is ancient it should run fine. You can see the evidence of others above in the thread. My daughter sometimes plays it on an old XP PC probably 7 or 8 years old now.
Ha ha, I know steamcraft well! However, when i get round to doing my armour, I have plans for something that will be different, lets say! :Notch:Nothing wrong with steamcraft though. :smile.gif:
I have a vista. D:
Theres probably a virus or to much memory. I'll figure it out someday!
Right as we speak im working a steampunk world, i nearly complete with my house/zeppelin
I may transfer my file to my laptop (which i can only access on some weekends)
ANd use your pack to see how well it looks!
All installed and at least I've got it working. Woo hoo! Thanks, mate! Now I assume I need to install something in the currently empty 'plugins' folder to enable the appropriate commands for creating 'portals' to the Nether and I don't have a 'library' folder in there yet? I'm assuming these are the two folders into which the 'Nethergate' plugin is placed? Can I just create the library folder myself?
Thanks again, Trigonous, at the very least I can more easily install other plugins...something I couldn't do before with Minecraft Server. :smile.gif:
Yeah, just extract the plugin and lib folder into your craftbukkit install directory, and you can have working nether portals! :biggrin.gif:
Just be sure to open up the readme in the install directory when it's finished. You can have it up and running in no time once that's done.
To install the plugin, move the "plugin" and "lib" folder into the craftbukkit install directory.

I think I have it working but need to move my current world over and figure out which netherworld plugin to use....
Wonder if I can create Abney Park's HMS Ophelia....
Well, I decided that I might as well join the bandwagon and start working on my own Nautilus. I'm going off of the version from the 1954 Disney film, not the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, mostly because I have fond memories of the Disney film. I've currently gotten the top half of the front quarter or so done. Hopefully I'll have it close to done by next week. However, I have run into a slight snag. I could only find a good diagram of the outside, which I am following to the best of my ability. However, I can't find any good diagrams of the layout of the interior of the ship, so the inside is going to basically be thrown together however I think fits best.
In other news, I decided that an undersea base to go along with it would be rather nifty. I also decided to connect the Nautilus with the base… by way of the undersea egress. Planing on having a glass passageway from the entrance on the underside of the Nautilus (the one for the divers) to the sea base, using a water elevator to enter and exit. This will give the feeling of walking underwater to the seabase without actually having to use the underwater breathing apparatus mod. Bonus points if I can find a bunch of jack-o-lanterns to stock both dressing areas with.
… Something tells me I'm being a bit too ambitious here. Oh well, wish me luck.
UPDATE: After a couple hours of working on this on and off, here's what I have to show.
If you're wondering, the wool is there as reference marks. Working off of a schematic with divisions every 10 feet/meters/angstroms (not quite sure which), and I decided to just say 4 blocks per division.
Welp, I finished my mansion. Next it's time for the Nautilus! I plan on doing the one from the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and it will be a long project. Should I get a server running, I'll be sure to open it up for help.
So it is a challenge, then! May the better man win!
To be different yet again, I'll be doing MY best to recreate the version Jules Verne describes in his novel. 8 meters wide by 70 meters long.
I love this texture pack but have one question, I am not sure if it's my computer but it seems to only occur on my computer the torches don't get, I am not sure if this is the right word, but they don't get rendered properly. I have tried many times to use the patch add on, and I have also tried reinstalling the game multiple times but this still seems to occur regardless of what I do, any suggestions?
Maybe the portal texture should be moving clockwork cogs, allowing you to use portal pieces for decor as well!
Also, you should maybe texture the lava as molten iron, because right now the mac-and-cheese lava is kind of strange.

I've just moved my 'Glimmar's World' save over and it ran fine first time. dare I say it seemed to load and generate my 60-70meg world much faster than normal Minecraft Server. Like you, I'm wondering which plugins to try this weekend. Too tempting and taking me away from giving you all more artwork! :smile.gif:

Ha ha! You can never be too ambitious as a steampunk engineer/architect!
You've given it more forethought than I. I started with a water filled dock that I'm still digging out the hard way...underwater!
For some inspiration for the Disney Nautilus have a look at the following:
It seems someone beat all of us to the Nautilus in Minecraft, but you can still be the first in Glimmar's Steampunk!

I'm not sure what's going on here. Can you try it on someone les's computer for comparison?
My eldest son's computer has an ATI Radeon card in and of all the comps we have lying around here, his (and it's no slouch) exhibits a weird effect with texture packs, where wire-frame lines are permanently seen round some blocks and in particular the torches. So the type of graphics card or driver I suppose, can have some effect. My youngest son's laptop has a radeon card built in and his works fine!
Have you tried updating your graphics drivers?

Hello! I love your Texture pack Glimmar!!! But will you skin ALL the mobs in the future? Like slimes, pigzombies and ghasts?
The short answer is yes! :smile.gif: I only have limited time and to keep my motivation intact, I tend to work where my own interests in Minecraft focus. Sadly because I play a lot on peaceful, the monster mobs are never there to constantly remind me they need attention. Lol!
I'm currently working on items at the mo', check in the OP for the most up-to-date items.png file . Thank you for the encouragement/compliment. :smile.gif:

Aw! And I thought I could leave lava alone for a while and concentrate on something else! 'Strange' can be good sometimes. I reckon whatever texture I choose for lava I'll flunk at it! :smile.gif:
That's a nice idea for the portal texture, when I've some spare time I'll look into that.
In other news, it appears that today is Thomas Edison's 164th birthday. Google has a doodle for him (although not an interactive one like Verne's). Anyone planing any steampunk creations in honor of him, or are you gonna wait till Tesla rolls around again in July?

Haha, currently the server I'm running for me and my roommates has the Netherportal, Minecart Mania (just the base mod), Controller Block (what steampunk world is incomplete without an epic passage in the library?), Extended Day, LoginMessage, and PvP control. I also used Biome Terrain Mod to generate it. Currently Wild Grass is unsupported for Bukkit, but I'm hopin' it'll get released soon.

Love the Cthulhu stuff , read a lot of lovecraft when I was younger , even tried out the D&D type adventures a while back .
Can I ask how you've made these , looked at the sandy textured one and cant work it out , blocks are overlapping blocks , looks like half blocks would have to be used . How is that done , cheers :smile.gif:
No problem! I updated my post but you didnt notice that so i write it here instead! Will you fix the water and lava flow?
Thanks again for your wonderful texture pack!
If you mean introduce enhanced animated water and lava? I find animated water extremely annoying when viewed from a distance and in my opinion it looks less 'real' than 'still' water. My water of course does flow using xau's patcher and the same water texture was created to look as good as it could when still and flowing in different directions. For my own purposes I find it far more subtle than the repetitive animation of one tile of water spread over a wide area cycling through exactly the same frames over and over again. This is a personal thing of course, but for my interest to continue I have to selfishly work on things that interest and are valuable to me and my own builds.
Flowing lava is a different thing entirely because it doesn't have an alpha channel, so looks very unanimated as it flows over surfaces. I know absolutely zero about animation, and at this time I'm not willing to invest a lot of time learning, when there are so many other basic things needing attention. One day however, I'd really like to animate flowing lava to make it appear more gloopy. Don't hold your breath though! :smile.gif:
The tower/temple is just a dome on a pillars made from sandstone. I made the sides of the dome on top flat and added an outer "shell" to each side (I was thinking in domes that day). Cthul was made by building two big round chunks on top of each other then building the face. The texture on him I had to create just for him. Otherwise he was a Woolenthulhu
@Glimmar -
I learnt the hard way about the animations...was a tough fight too. In Pipeworld, I made a custom water still that matches perfectly with your water. Mainly cause we wanted to see more of the "ocean floor" so to speak. But it does take away from any creativity the the water texture would show. So it is very much "user's preference".
:biggrin.gif:
About the lava animation, it takes one block from the five block texture and animates it. So yours does well animated. Mine....well it took me a couple thousand tries afore I figured that part out. As far as an animated and still custom file, these seem to also completely change the lava (ignoring the texture all together it seems...same as the water files)
About the portal as cogs...I love the idea. Not too sure what to change though as everything I've ever done to the portal texture(s) never did a thing. I guess that's where the HD patcher update comes in. I haven't tried after that time.
Anyone with any ideas on this..I would love to tackle it for myself, as well as give Glimm some viewable example from PipeWorld

"This may hurt a little, but it's something you'll get used to...."
Did you mean to ask, "Neither my compass nor my clock works!"
Solution: Any changes to your compass and clock (as well as moving lava and water) both need zau's MC Patcher to work properly and it needs to be from a fresh install of Minecraft. If you move from one HD texture pack to another, you basically have to start from scratch with a fresh install...or compass, clock, lava and water do not get patched and you are left with the previous texture pack's equivalent.

EPIC BUKKIT PLUGIN REPOSITORY!
And here's a screenshot of the entrance to my base (just started it yesterday).

Also, how can the one with the video call that the Nautilus? It's barely furnished!
