What mapper do you use, Metadigital? 'MCmap' is very much up-to-date and allows you to import your terrain.png and 'biome' triangle .png files to get an almost perfect rendition from the air of your landscape and buildings. Took me a little while to figure what went where, but is now quite intuitive. My only disappointment is that I can't get MCmap to show up my green gas lamps...they still come out as standard yellow on the map, but I can forgive that for the beauty of the finished layout! :smile.gif:
Many thanks for sharing by-the-way. I look forward to seeing progress reports. I also visited your thread regarding Minecraft Geology and loved your ideas!
I finally figured it out, and boy, is it dark! I'll post another one with the right colors in my next update!
Thanks for visiting my suggestion thread, by the way. =)
I'll definitely see about joining Pipeworld...though i'm at work right now and i don't have any pictures of my work. Plus I'm on a new world right now (my old one had several chunks that kept reverting. Made me very unhappy) so I don't really have anything too epic yet... just a bit of an underwater chamber and a small tower.
I hadn't posted in your thread in awhile and i just wanted to say hello. =)
Also it's the anniversary of Jules Vernes 183rd birthday! If you haven't seen it, Google has done a fantastic doodle in honor of him and his 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The doodle even has an interactive lever you can push to move around under the ocean. Well done Google! Happy Birthday Jules Verne! =)
SIGNATURE UPDATE! I got home early from work today and so I was able to work on these a bit. If you have an epic pic you'd like in the first one, feel free to let me know.
Wait...does the train...work? As in, does it allow multiple minecarts to be connected to the back of it?
*readies girly screaming*
If not, I blame the person who linked me here on a train request thread.
That fellow has sadly misled you. There was a wizard here once, but he is gone now.
Farewell, MaudDib, we hardly knew thee. My only hope is that you are using your mad coding skillz to conjure things into our own reality to do battle with the demons that keep you separated from the community at large.
Today is exactly the 183th birthday of Jules Verne.
This guy is more or less the creator of SteamPunk !
Happy Birthday Jules!

Ha ha! Beat you both to it! I wished him happy birthday just after midnight at the top of this page (sorry, just me being childish!), but glad you reiterated. Well done to Google and love that Nautilus design...it's part of my childhood (I think I had a toy Nautilus of the same design)! It's a difficult design with all those curves for Minecraft, but gorgeous none-the-less.
Who's going to be the first to make a monument to Jules Verne? I envisage a vast plaza lined with collosal statues of great Victorian sci-fi writers and temple/museums behind each statue full of the objects/ideas/inventions they were famous for dreaming up! Should only take a couple of hours for you speed builders.

The progress bar on the furnace doesn't line up perfectly. Here's a fixed version:
Many thanks for the above fix. :smile.gif:
Any chance the spacing of the grid on the above could be fixed? Thanks mate! :smile.gif:

@ Trigonous: Gorgeous work. Love both those sigs. and that glowing redstone torch is a very nice touch. :smile.gif: It's only sentiment that is making me personally retain my own, but I'd love for anyone interested to use these instead if they want!

When Glimm's world meets mine...and a headcold:
Ha ha! No wonder you've got a head cold with all those Cthulhu heads popping up everywhere! Love that central construct.
And in the spirit of all the gifts flying around here's an updated 'items.png' file with some new 'Glimmar' buckets in place:
It has, I'm afraid! I didn't particularly like it in the end, as I felt it made the texture a bit messy and pixelated.
Keep watching though, because I'm currently gathering all the alternative textures together for a display at the top, so you can easily cut and paste it back in. When I've time, currently trying to focus on finishing the items.png file off, I'll make many more alternative textures, to try and suit everyone's taste, including green crystal like coal, but that will mean the coal in 'items' would also have to change to match. :smile.gif:
Actually, if you get right up close you'll see there are still some little flecks of green in amongst the coal!

I'll post a video of my base soon. It's very small, because I've only been playing for about 3 weeks.
EDIT: make that some screen shots. My laptop is too slow for video.
PLEASE IGNORE THE REQUEST TO PROVIDE DETAILS TO 'The server minecraft.hut2.ru at http://minecraftforum.net'. Someone or something has attached this to this thread page. It will be removed by the time this thread hits the next page!

I'll see about fixing that grid after work. I'm not too good with my own original artwork, but I'm great at modifying others'!
Lol! Many thanks, kind gentleperson. :smile.gif:
ps. That's what I was meaning to ask. How have you managed to extend your signature to double the width? I remember reading way back that it was possible, and then promptly forgot all about it and couldn't find the link when I wanted it. Thanks, Trigonous. :smile.gif:

I'm not sure, I just noticed that I have a couple of 96x96 images in my signature, and they can extend to five in a row before wrapping around, so I just made a 96x480 image. It worked out perfectly.
EDIT: It could be the size of your screen? It may have a scrollbar if the screen is too small, I'm not sure if there is a maximum width for signatures...I know the max height is 96 (ish, maybe 100?) before it adds a vertical scrollbar.
EDIT EDIT: A quick search just confirmed, max signature size is 100x600 before adding scrollbars.
Decided to upload a couple pics from my projects on a server I'm on. Unfortunately the sun decided to set as soon as I started taking these.
My base, complete with upside down pyramid, (small) airship, and gear system. The tower in the background is a library tower built by a friend.
The boiler-room
Giant gear and base
Library
Lounge (work in progress)
Rooftop and airship (airship to be rebuilt soon).
Engine Room
Main Cabin
I may retake a few of these pics during the day if I get around to it. In the meantime, here's a picture from when a beta hole appeared in the middle of my base, giving a lovely cross-section of the building. (Taken before the airship or gears were completed)
@ ksheep: Well those are the biggest gears I've ever seen in Minecraft! And I rather like the drama of the fading light, but i understand your frustration. It happens to me all the time...you spend a lot of time getting something ready to take a pic and just then you notice the sun closing on the horizon and you race to get the pics in before that first drop in light! Very nice to see you're using MrMessiah's 'BetterLight' mod too, it makes such a difference.
ksheep, well done indeed, with great visions of massive machinary at work, there's a lot of inspiration in that first pic alone. Oh, and welcome to the forums, mate!

You Text. Packs lighting is alright for my eyes. Although I don't really see the difference. I'm just glad that you created a Steampunk pack. I've always loved that philosphy and fictional science intrigues me (Spelt it wrong I know :T) But how do you people create this? You all are more talented than me (well everyone is) But I'm working on a Steampunk skin that'll blow your brains off I'll show it when I'm done.
Ps: That movie "The Golden Compass" was a Steampunk Movie and the game "Bioshock" tends to grow on the Steampunk philosphy too.
