Sorry 'bout the delay, herewith attached to this post below:
New Alternative HD Female Steampunk Character for Glimmar's Steampunk
To use...just copy and paste the above image to your desktop, rename to 'char' and drop a copy of it into the 'mob' folder in the texture pack. This will replace the standard male character... so if you want to switch back, keep a copy of that handsome little mustachiodude before you drop in your ladydude equivalent. :biggrin.gif:
My next texture pack update will contain both dude and dudette characters, but will still come with the male as standard...unless there is an overwhelming outcry that the default character should be female.
Let me know if you think there should be a vote on it. :smile.gif:
Anyways, as there was absolutely no response to the taster pics further up this page I'm not sure anyone will be interested. Oh well! :unsure.gif:
Also, I'm rather concerned about a few things to do with that paragrah; first off, the point you called it 'ladydude'. xD
Just showin' me age. :biggrin.gif:

Secondly; the concerning fact that you released a girlchar.pg with that disturbing blocky realism style you've got going on, you could have atleast.. done something!
Not sure what 'something' you're referring to. :blink.gif: :smile.gif:

And a thought that came to mind while reading the post.. the default male damage hurt thing'll still be there!
Yeh! She's a rough tough girl who's used to welding torpedoes onto ghast flanks! :biggrin.gif:
Thanks Glimmar. i am sad to have had to delete the custom animations but i like my mods and i like this texture pack and now with both it is not laggey as heck. also i think that the zeppelin mod is a perfect companion mod for this TP because what says Steam Punk like large blimps

Glad you got it to a working state. :smile.gif:
Yeh, in agreement with you there. So many great mods that would be perfect to steampunkify, anything industrial, but especially things like zeppelins.
If I manage to carve out a little free time this week, I'm thinking of having a play with the Randomobs side of things and add a few more monster robots if it's not too difficult.
Have fun, WillHoot and show us any nice constructions you make. :smile.gif:
I was using your pack again today, and I realized that I'd really like to have an alternate bed that looks like a real bed rather than a cyborg recharging station. Not that cyborg recharging stations aren't cool, I just think we need someplace for the non-metallic people to sleep. ^^

Nope. Real beds are useless fabrications. All you can do with a real bed is sleep in it and besides, my bed is definately not a cyborg recharging station...that's too StarWarsish and my time machine/Frankenstein/mindfocusing/torture bed is way too grungy and brassy to assist in recharging any glossy cyborgs unless they be The Brass Man. :smile.gif:
Besides which I think you're trying to send me off on a wild goose chase making beds! :biggrin.gif:
Also...my adaptable component bed is soon to be animated...try animating a bed-like bed. :tongue.gif:

i would say more star trek. the bed does kind of have a borgish feel to it

I think you're onto something there!
The Borg always fascinated me as one of the most interesting StarTrek creations...very steampunk, just minus the brass, cogs and emotion, but definately that melding of man and machine. Many of the 'Minecraft CPU projects' have that Borg-like look to them.
Given infinite time, I'd love to have a go at building a Borgesque/Steampunk epic cube. :blink.gif: ^^
Hello, Glimmar. If you are reading this, I want to say a few things.
At first, before using this pack, I thought it was the worst pack ever.
Today, I believe you are the best texture pack maker ever.
I love this pack, and I will use it until I have to stop. Not that I will.
You have to keep up this amazing work, and I hope you work on this pack and don't let it fail.
I have no idea how you did this so amazingly, how you managed to execute the pack just right.
Everything about it is just amazing.
My favourite parts are the drill pickaxe, the chainsaw axe, and the diamond.
Love the diamond.
Oh, and the ores.
Well, I could sit here and say every part of your pack as my favourite.
But I won't.
I'll just say this.
Thanks.

As a little 'your welcome' for such a nice comment here's a little WIP from my Newglim world. I'm working on a pumping station which will be the source of much of the fresh water used in and around my dockland area.
I'll post some more pics in the daylight when there's a little more to show.
It kind of happened by accident. As I was stripping a mountain of it's layer of dirt to create a waterfall, and having just visited Malham Cove and Gordale Scar last week, I wondered if it was possible to create some kind of weird geological formation as a special feature. It looked ok in the daylight, but rather dull at night, so had the idea of sticking a gaslight ontop of every stone block for that nice twinkly effect the lights give at night.
I'm currently working on some kind of glass roof at the mo' with the mountain of light stuck out the top...not sure it will work, but it's a great break from texturing and good food for the imagination. It's too easy to get stale just grinding texture after texture out.
After I've finished the roof, I'm working on a redstone perpetual water pumping machine like my 'Difference Engine'...only pretend, but at least it'll make a noise and move and look like it's involved in pumping water or purifying it or something.
This is remarkably beautiful.
I look forward to future developments.
Regarding the cactus, couldn't you make it into a sort of crystal? (It would be almost like Tiberium in application, now that I think about it.)
the only issue is that the crystals would have to still be in the cylindrical shape. but i would go for that idea especially with refining them to the green dye it would make since if they were green. if you could get around that i would love the crystal idea too.

Damn, looks epic. If you managed to make either official or unofficial textures for Trains, Equivalent Exchange, and Buildcraft, we would have total SteamPunk Minecraft at hand.

ya build craft defiantly needs to be be steam-punked. and the one for IC doesn't work with IC2 so if that gets updated it would be nice(i know its not build by Glimmar).

This idea was mooted back in October of last year, I think. I liked it then, but just didn't get round to experimenting. Green crystal growths would certainly make more useful building blocks than cactus, so I might look into this again. :smile.gif:

Many thanks, Crawfo540.
I love the idea of all those mods, but circumstances in my family and work don't allow me much spare time. :sad.gif:
Given all the free time in the world I'd be sweeping through the mod section like a whirling Dervish. :biggrin.gif:

Wow...Just..... WOW...This is simply amazing. It seriously had me stunned looking at it at first. My goggles are off to you my good man.+1 to buildcraft using a texture like this.
Glad you like, cypherwulfe and like others above, thank you for taking the time to post and give encouragement.
im starting a new project and i cant decide. which should i go with.underground city with no access to surface, or topside city with ocean access
Oooo! I reckon you should combine both and go for the start of an epic city.
When I started my city (shipped from world to world now to keep up with Notch's improvements) I began with a dock area so I could expand inland to create a huge metropolis (I'd begun to read 'Perdido Street Station' by China Meiville) and intended to build an underwater base out to sea complete with Jules Verne style subs and then perhaps even aerial bases complete with airships. However, Notch and kahr keep putting spanners in the works of my global empire building ambitions by creating exciting new stuff! :blink.gif:
Thank you all for your kind comments and ideas.
I've just finished a nice copper cauldron/vat:
Like my other building blocks, it's designed to fit together and merge well with other things. It also makes a good sinkhole and because it doesn't have legs you could get away with using it as another building block! :smile.gif:
Does anyone know if Notch is keeping the cauldron?
When I play Minecraft I don't like modern technology creations. I like to make more intricate looking buildings, my friend likes the modern technology. I never thought we would agree on what to build, then my sister suggested this.
This texture pack is amazing, there is no other word for it except for maybe... EPIC!!!
Thank you for providing me and my friend with a compromise.
One question though. Is there a way to not use the preset skins for male and female?
And, can you recommend a good installation video for the extras pack?
Here I was feeling all happy about my semi steampunk sword: Then I see yours...
That's a brilliant sword, imnumberfour...don't underrate it. Besides I didn't do the diamond sword, Vondell kindly donated the weapons and tools, so can't claim credit for that. :smile.gif:

Many thanks, nicholas318. Glad my pack allowed you and your friend to compromise. :smile.gif:
As regards the preset skins. Find one you like, your own or one online, rename it to 'char' (has to be a .png file too) and simply drop it into the 'mob' folder in my pack. That will be your default character, unless you change to another pack of course. As you've probably already discovered, there are other lowres steampunk character skins in my 'extras' download.
Speaking of which...the 'extras' download is just a simple folder containing lots of alternative textures provided by myself and other interested members, who have submitted artwork, often based on my own textures or original to themselves. So the extras download isn't something you can install in one go. You need to dip into it and in some cases just drag individual files into the appropriate folder or cut'n'paste items and terrain textures onto the 'items.png' or 'terrain.png' sheets. So a little bit of graphical skill with Gimp, etc. is required.
I really need to upload all this extra stuff onto the 'Minecraft Customiser', but circumstances, as highlighted in my OP, have made it somewhat difficult to undertake big new projects (and it's something I want to do myself despite some very kind offers of help). I manage a little time per day on my pack trying to keep up with Notch, a little time relaxing in my Newglim world, and a few minutes replying to you good folk here and that's about it I'm afraid. :sad.gif:
My interest in Minecraft hasn't dwindled in over 18 months, so if circumstances in RL change, you'll see more 'stuff' happen here for sure. :smile.gif:
