I see you liked those :biggrin.gif:
I made these today
*SNIP*
say, what do you think?
I say, I like it. Swaping them out right now. Just gonna say, tho, that I'm using this new one as Iron and the other one you made to replace the leather (didn't quite like the old leather).
Im having an issue with my default textures being overwritten by this. I exited minecraft and when I went to choose my texture pack to test out another one, the default was now the same as Glimmars Steampunk but still said default. Im sorry if this has been posted before and resolved but I don't want to search through over 100 pages of this thread. Thanks for any and all help provided.

This is due to the HD Texture Patcher. When you patch a texture pack on, it overwrites the standard textures in order to fix several graphical bugs (mainly with gold, bricks, water, and the compass, I believe). You can supposedly re-run the patcher to get the original back or patch a new one on top, but sometimes things wont properly repatch (especially when going from one size to a smaller size).
Another heads up, Glim: Turns out that they are removing the "Weeping Obsidian" texture and replacing it with new "Grass Edge" tile (whatever that looks like). I believe this is for their fix for the side of grass not matching the top for different biomes (another thing they are adding in the new pack).
Also, I'm thinking of throwing together a temp. filler sheet in case you don't get back to working on this until some time after the update. I'd put it together now, but I'm not entirely sure how they are going about some of the things (side grass, for instance).
For some reason I'm having a mixing problem with this texture. it's adding in other blocks to make the textures as seen here:
any ideas on how to fix? It seems to be just some of the ores and places where either snow does or doesn't fall, life in the pic. no snow on leave's= bad, snow on dirt=bad.

Did you use the HD Texture Patcher?
Sorry to be a nub, but I don't really know how. I downloaded the patcher and selected the steampunk texture folder, and it didn't really help just got a punch of things saying it was already patched
Actually, I take that back. It's not other textures, it's mods I have downloaded like dungeoncraft and the portal gun

I'm not sure about the newest version of the HD patcher (as I'm still using an older version), but I believe you are supposed to select the .ZIP file, not the folder, when you patch it. Hopefully this should fix it. As for other mods… I don't THINK they can screw things up like that, but I dunno. Depends on the mod, I guess.
Side grass is being fixed in 1.5!!!!
I heard it from a guy who read it on Notch's twitter, it's there somewhere!
This means us texture pack makers can really let our creative juices flow! (not that we haven't already)
Now all we need are biomes for pine and birch :biggrin.gif:
Ok, that was a bit random, but I felt it needed to be said. I still love your pack Glimmar!
Also had a thought, have you ever thought about making a website customizer with this pack? You have so many brilliant alternate textures, I'm sure there are enough to have a good amount of options...

I did select the folder oddly enough. I haven't tried getting rid of those mods, but I also don't see why their messing up now. nothings wrong in my other texture packages, and i've had these mods for a while now
*Edit: BWAHA! I figured out what it was. I was forgetting to tick the "Texture Package" box on HDPatcher

Good to hear you found out what was wrong. Hope you enjoy the pack!
Thought I'd just pop in and try and catch up on things. :smile.gif: I've also been trawling back through a few pages to find more things for the next update and working on updating the OP. Having a little break doesn't mean I haven't been thinking about new things for Notch's update. Nothing extraordinaire has come to me in a flash of inspiration, but the way I work that's nothing to worry about. I'm looking forward to working on the new powered track texture and got in a little work on saplings. Like the rest of you I'm very much looking forward to the new weather system and hoping I've not got too much the lightning can set on fire!
Now to your posts:

First of all... This texture pack has made me get re-addicted to minecraft haha. cobblestone is amazing, along with wood too. And its not too detailed (32x) so it keeps the minecraft feel!
If you want to add it to your page, i uploaded an HD video of the texture pack. But thats your choice.
The only thing i dont really like about this texture pack is clay. When you see it in the wild... it looks like a bronze metal block or something :/
Excellent vid and one I'll include at the top, if I may. Hope I explained in my large diatribe above my reasonings for the clay and some other weird things about the textures in the pack. :smile.gif:

Since other's have been dropping by and showing you their epic builds, I figured I'd let you know your pack has inspired an epic build of a slightly different nature. Rather than building with blocks, I am building with words.
I have started keeping a daily account of my journeys in this steam punk world of yours. The first entry (and all the rest once I have more to add) can be found herein: Diary of Vermithrax, A SteamPunk Adventure
I love the sound of this and will be putting a link for this in the OP if I may. Excellent stuff The_Fool76.

and finally a favor to someone who asked me real nice...Castle Bran(the castle Bram Stoker used as a model for Dracula's castle)
Wow! You have been busy, PipeHead. I love Castle Bran and will put this in the OP if I may. :smile.gif:
@ Zerul: Thanks, mate. :wink.gif:
@ Mad Science Joe: Thank you, sir. I'm glad at least one other person sees it my way! Oh, and is it too late to welcome you to the forums? Welcome anyway! :smile.gif:
@ Gestankfaust: Mate, Your ideas are never 'meager', though I do have some ideas for the booster tracks I want to try out. :smile.gif:
As regards the lava, if you do animate anything, as no-one else seems to have an opinion I'd prefer my latest out of them all, as I think it tiles and ties in with my green flame particles the best. The dark lava has patches of green included, I'm sure you've noticed, and I've tried to minimise any parts that might look aweful from a distance. My last lava for example had one large patch of hardened lava that really stuck out like a sore thumb over wide areas and didn't look good in single column falls, as seen in the nether.

All in good time, mate.
Kind users have recently uploaded some nice armors which I will include in the next update and I'll see if I've time to replace Vondell's leather chaps (though they've become somewhat legendary now!) completely with leather apron, steampunk goggles and leather foundry gloves.
@ cardini97: Thank you kindly. :smile.gif:
@ swiftfeet: Thank you, kind person.
As most regulars know, I haven't experimented with animated lava/water yet and don't want to get bogged down doing so while other things still need doing and updates still keep pouring fourth from Notch. Of course if I can't come up with something that doesn't have awful repetitive patterning over ocean wide expanses of water, I may never include or use my own. My intention would be to make the movement as subtle and unobtrusive as possible, to negate that patterning problem...if that's possible.
Bear in mind also, I don't like the sharp transition from moving water textures to still water textures, as in my humble opinion it looks terrible and shows up the different directions of the flow far to starkly. This is why for my own use I've always preferred the same simple texture for still and flowing water...one flows into and out of the other much more discretely.
Of course, that is not to say I'm not curious to see what can be done. I'm truly fascinated by water in the landscape and you might be interested to know that when I did my degree in Fine Art, quite some years ago now, my final thesis was a four volume epic called 'Aqueous Art' which looked at man's aesthetic usage of water through the ages. My interest has continued to the present day and being fortunate enough to have a largish garden that cascades down a hillside (also overlooking a large Victorian dock with a steam train and the odd tall ship! Now you know where i get my daily inspiration from.) I've built and messed around with many water features, streams, and waterfalls. I suppose that's one of the reasons I'm more critical of animated water in the game. If it looks in the slightest unnatural, I'd rather have it stationary and dull than moving and unrealistic.
@ ssaint: Hope the Prom went well. :smile.gif:

Decent, but really busy with pre-spring break work, along with personal business and such. Kinda hypocritical of me, saying I'll post more then disappearing for week(s). Now that break has started though, I may get more free time.
Glad you've got some free time again, mate. Real life is always more important, says I, so never feel you need to apologise.
I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to put all your excellent weapon and tool items in the 'extras' folder along with everything else, as I think that's where everyone will be looking for things now and was a bit concerned that probably not many people have the patience to travel all the way to the bottom of my overly large OP, which is a crying shame considering how much work you invested. :smile.gif:

As mentioned, I will place these in position in the pack for the next update, until I've had time to do my own, but any changes I make will mean any contributions will still be available in the 'extras' folder with appropriate identification there. If I include them as part of the pack that gets used then I will credit you in the OP, if I miss anything, please let me know. :smile.gif:
