I was killing some time in my graphics program and made me a title screen for minecraft. After i finished it, i thought, "hey why not make a title screen for Glimmar's Steampunk". Which i promptly did. I don't know if your interested in the title screen or not. For all i know you may be planning one yourself in the future. I just threw these together, their nothing special. Please don't feel obligated in any way to use them. Feel free to do with them as you wish. I don't need to be credited. Take care buddy. =)
Note: These are 512x512. The default of course is 256x256. I use a 64x64 texture pack and i made my title screen 1024x1024. So these should be fine. I am not even sure if the size of that particular screen matters. They should work though. They also need to be renamed to Mojang.png if they are used by anyone. Cheers.
A resized version of my title screen. I thought i would throw it in for fun. =) Dream It Build It
Happy Holidaystoall!
Those are awesome, Telgar, but it's the first one that's really taken my eye, it's near to perfection. Is there anyway I could ask you to slip a 'Mojang Specifications' trademark in there and I'll use it if I may in the next update (if you haven't the time or you think I'm being a slave driver, don't worry, I'll slap it on when I can). That screen no.1 is very classy and you have been very generous with your time doing this. Thank you very much, mate! Due credit will be given at the top upon release! Love your 'Dream It Build It' screen to. You've definately got a flair for design.
At some stage in the future I'd still like to do something myself, but even then, along with the other screens you've done, I'd like to keep them up top for others to have the choice. You're amazing!! :biggrin.gif:
My son has just put together the 'background' screen using the 'Netherplate' rivetted panel and it tiles perfectly behind Heftig's gui selection bars, now with your title screen folks are really going to be spoiled! Many thanks to one and all, you all deserve these:
I feel like everyone is handing me early Christmas presents at the moment, but this sort of thing is what I feel makes Minecraft pretty special, and it's really cool for this theme.
How about replace the powered minecart by some steam powered small engine? This may be nice to watch steam engine pulling carts through base or something like that. I will be happy to read comments about that idea.
For this theme, I would die for a mod like that, even just some extra puffs of steam coming out the top of the powered Minecart or moving pistons would be awesome! I think, sadly, this would be too much to ask for...though one can dream. I am intending to work further on the minecart to try and introduce wheels, and/or pistons and cogs. I'm only a lowly artist and coding is way out of my comfort or talent zone, so only cosmetic changes I'm afraid! :sad.gif:

Thanks for the extra mirror.
Also, since I've been mining coal recently I was thinking, Why not make coal ore look like rock with crystaline bubbles that contain florescent gas? Then the coal item would look like one of these bubbles of gas that you could harness for light (torches) and furnace fuel.
Just a thought though
Now that, my friend, is an amazing idea! So amazing infact that when I get a chance, I'm going to try redoing the coal ore along those lines. Anything that ties in with my favourite little item (green gas lamp) is brilliant. many thanks for sharing that. I will credit you with that idea when I show a sample. Thanks, mate!
I don't post often, but I figured I should show support for some of my favorite texture packs and their artists. Ever since I got into Minecraft, I've been running with Doku's RPG texture pack. Minecraft, with all it's blocky charm, seems almost unplayable at 16x16. I get bored with the default textures. Once I found Doku's pack, I was hooked. After he left and tombones took up the maintenance, I was using his. And tombones, if you read this, you've done an amazing job.
But I'm a Steampunker at heart and my heart skipped a beat when I saw the work you were doing. But I read your posts back when it was a private pack for yourself and sighed. The RPG pack was pretty and really nice but not perfect for my tastes but, well, it was pretty as smeck and tombones was doing a great job. I found your post again, however, and installed it. This is perfect for everything I do in this game. And with BetterLights and the Breather mod you linked to, things really are coming together for my airship and underwater dome utopia. Of course, now I have to BUILD said underwater dome and airship utopia, but those things are minor compared to getting the feel just right. The only thing I can think of to suggest is to make the TNT bundles a bit more 'poppy.' Right now, they can blend in a bit to the surroundings. I've yet to need to worry about it but it's the only thing I can think of.
Now if only there was a steampunk equipment texture pack.
I wanted to make sure this got to you. This mod allows you to command all the mobs and turn them into docile pets, creepers won't explode when they are near you, skellies won't shoot, and zombies and spiders just stay chill, it also allows you to command them to follow and stay put. It's not perfect but it'll do the trick for screenshots! I hope it helps you out! :biggrin.gif:
Thank you once again for your kind words and ideas! (your redstone ides will be put into affect, I loved your idea and I'll be sure to credit them to you. :biggrin.gif: )

minalkra, many thanks for your support and the time taken to write this comment. It is much appreciated and makes all my efforts, and the efforts of other artists I'm sure, worth the trouble.
I can confirm that at some stage there will definately be a steampunk item sheet of equipment included with this pack. Have a look back a page or two above and you'll find that Tiger4Ruler has put together an items.png sheet with a number of steampunk contrubutions from other artists. This just needs putting into a folder title 'gui' and dropping into my texture pack zip file, in the Minecraft Texture pack folder and you'll have something to be going on with until I get more time.
Again many thanks for taking the trouble to give some feedback and encouragement. It does make a difference. :smile.gif:

Many thanks again, athdaraxen. It looks a good fun mod. I had a look at the video and I loved the idea of keeping fields of sheep and pigs, etc. perhaps even a zoo of dangerous mobs. Haven't had the time to try it out yet, I've been spending most of the day trying to get the new Better Light mod to work properly with my other favourite mods - Breathing Apparatus and Decaying Leaves...unsuccessfully I'm afraid.
It was a pleasure visiting your thread! :smile.gif:

The cow didn't move an inch! They will turn though, but won't move from that spot! :biggrin.gif: I am sorry you can't get your mods working together right... Might I suggest this little program? It might help you out! (I use it to load HD packs, it creates a temporary .jar file for mods and such, your original .jar is never touched.) Minecrafter
It makes loading mods easier and also tends to make multiple mods work together easier and such. I hope it helps. :smile.gif:
I had an idea for this pack, instead of buckets, could they be replaced with conical flasks?
I'd be very grateful if you could give me an example pic, I'm not sure what you mean by conical flask. :smile.gif:
I would suppose he means one of these?
Ah! They would be nice in a lab setting, but not so sure they would look right carrying lava, etc. I'll have a think about it. :smile.gif: Someone could do an alternative item texture and it could go in my Steampunk Emporium at the top for anyone who likes the idea. Thanks again, athdaraxen.
No problem Glimmer, you are awesome. So I'll be more than happy to help as I can. :biggrin.gif:
Oh! I have just finished work on the redstone torches, I'm still playing with them, but I want to PM you a sneak peek picture as they were originally your idea. (If that's ok with you of course) EDIT! When using the pet mod, Do not uninstall it without destroying any rods you have made. If you end up uninstalling it without destroying the rods, it will destroy your save!!!
Glimmar, your pack just keeps getting better and better! I always feel a bit guilty I don't use it more often as so much time and effort has been put in to it, but I'm now so used to my custom brightly coloured pack that changing to anything else makes it feel like I'm in a perpetual gloom. I periodically check back for updates though. :smile.gif:
Minecraft will reach Beta status on December 20th, 2010.
With Beta comes a larger focus on polish and content, and we’ll start early on with adding proper modding support with a stable API, and we’d love all input we can get on this from the modders out there.
from World of Notch
Lol with the current input rate from everybody we will be more than ready for some suggestions and whatnot! ^^
The greatest work is to make the implementation of a mutlitude of mods easy for the end-user and I like the sound of 'stable API'.
Guess I will try to put a ZIP together rather tomorrow, to make it hopefully easier to install updated items.png, the more paintings extreme mod, some title screen etc., we are more than happy for all the active thoughts and contributions you guys have and the creative ping pong between item-producer, Glimmar and me is real fun! thnx
Tiger, I'd be grateful if you would hold off making a zip file at this stage with the updated items file etc. I don't mind an item sheet or any other individual item, texture, etc. being offered or links to mods, etc, but when it comes to assembling the zip file, I would still like to retain control over what is associated with my pack. I realize everyone who is interested in the pack would like me to go faster with other parts of it, and I am very grateful for your input, but until that item sheet is completely original I'd rather it wasn't zipped up with my textures etc. I don't want someone down the line accusing me of nicking their work, and being an artist, I am very mindful of their creative rights. Also I'm working to put the above title sheet and other things together for my next update and having something going out before, with the same things, rather spoils the surprise.
Like I say, I'm very grateful for all your input and don't wish to offend. I really don't mind you offering individual things, like your art file or links to appropriate mods etc. but no seperate packs please! I really hope you understand, mate. :smile.gif:

I would love to see what you've done with those redstone torches, athdaraxen! :smile.gif: Fire away! [no pun intended]
You should release a download for your world 3. It looks amazing! :biggrin.gif:
I get asked this from time to time. Some day I will, but folks would just laugh at it's haphazard design at the moment, and it's still my place to retreat to, away from the forums. The intention always was to release it...eventually! Many thanks for the compliment though! :smile.gif:

When will you start on armor and items? I think you could turn iron armor into a hazmat suit, diamond armor into a Level Four Haz Mat Suit, etc.?
Quote from Abrazil »
Im joining to the question about armors. It would be sweet to travel across this dangerous land in hazmat suit, or in this briliant, black version of leather armor!
My time is limited at the moment and I'm working on some other things for the pack, so armour may be a little way down the line, but I will eventually do something. Just wish there were more free hours in the day! Sorry guys. :sad.gif:
I'm happy you liked the title screens Glimmar. Thank you so much for your kind comments. As per your request i have added the mojang specifications text and or logo to the first posted title screen. I also redid the texture and text. On the original one the text looked squeezed and i messed up the texture block when i re-sized it. Perhaps much ado over a screen that only lasts a few seconds! I actually made eight versions of it. Sorry, i wasn't sure what would work the best and i had limited space for mojang text and logo. Just pick the one you like the best! Here you go amigo. =)
