There's so much to choose from there and so many excellent buildings and tweaked textures. I'll choose my favorites and put them in the 'official' (sounds a bit grand, eh!?) gallery and if you want to add any descriptions or titles let me know, otherwise I'll label them with your name. I don't want to guess what a building is and end up calling something a 'station' when it might turn out to be a 'grand hotel'.
I really need to look back through the thread here for those recent airship pics and use some of asikar's airship pics and hope he doesn't mind me including them in my own Imgur gallery here, without his direct permission.

Also folks, don't forget to offer up suggestions to the list of 'steampunk' buildings I have at the bottom of the OP. I'm sure what I have there is missing some very obvious things that I haven't thought of.
.....GSv.17 Vid.3 - New Flint Cobble & Lots of Extra Junk
Glimmar's Steampunk v.17 Update, available soon!
Taster Vid 3: 'New Flint Cobble & Lots of Extra Junk'
Included in this video are lots of pics of random junk items to be found in dirt, sand and gravel. Gravel not only has lots of rare junk items, but also a greater variety of rock sizes that help it's juxtaposition with stone, dirt and sand and other materials.
The landscape is more interesting for these extras, but I am aware that the frequency of such random elements is a delicate matter...too much and the whole world can easily look like a junk yard and my pack is designed for creators of ordered retro-future worlds, not post-apocalyptic wildernesses.
The new double slab flint cobble wall texture only requires the use of MCPatcher/Optifine...which everyone uses, right? It is a perfectly legal block and doesn't use any outdated meta number jiggery pokery...just the cobble double slab. It is designed to be a nice bridging block between stone bricks, stone and normal cobble, but will also have many other uses I'm sure.
Anyway, have a look at the video and see what you think.
Thanks for watching.

Well, that is pretty nice! Awesome details, as usual, Glim
Btw, about metadata. Does somebody know, if leather armor changes it's metadata when dyed? I'd like to try creating a set of skins for it, so each color would have it's own texture. Is this possible?

Choose what you like No worries on the labeling ... The rail station is just what it is. The other buildings is my power park. Grow and harvest trees, turn them into charcoal and run the steam furnaces for power That is what I really like about the mods is the ability to not only create buildings, but, to create them for specific functionality.

Thanks, mate, glad you like.
As regards item metadata I'll have to pass on that as I've absolutely no experience in that area. I could only suggest asking the same question on the MCPatcher thread. Sorry not to be more helpful.

Great stuff! I shall make all the changes when working on altering things in the OP for the GSv17 update.
Haha! I understand what you mean with regard to the functionality of mod use. I am both jealous of the extra blocks that mods provide, but if I can't make my own textures for them due to lack of time it becomes a frightening negative for me. I love the idea of the processes of manufacturing and progress in survival MC with ever more realistic functionality, but have to admit that it's the creative aspect of designing buildings that appeal and after 5 years maintaining GS and still trying to advance Newglim with less and less free time I suppose I've long since lost the patience to do it the hard, but none-the-less satisfying, survival way.
I've become a tinkerer in my old age and it's deeply annoying to me at times, especially given the number of survival games now appearing since the success of Minecraft. Sadly each one I've looked at only holds my attention for a short period of time. I guess as my spare time is whittled away with more work and family matters, it has the knock on effect of dulling my attention span. In the short periods of time I have, it's difficult to get into that creative mood, or even properly organise the time to progress things at a steady pace, my mind ends up drifting from one thing to another.
Anyways, I realize that wittering on here is not going to get the rest of the 1.8 stuff or the rest of the 32x to 64x upgrade work done.
I have an amazing-looking airship I've made with Asikar's edit of this pack... I'll get some screenshots of it for your gallery (and my wall )!

Excellent! I like the sound of that!
In the past I've just not been very good at picking up user screenshots, mainly because re-arranging the OP is such a pain, but these new-fangled Imgur albums are a great way of collecting material to show.
Glimm, I'm really licking the new cobble, sand&gravel. But about the wools. I'm not biggest fan of recoloring, as nice as it looks, though. At least some of them would be more personal, like wallpapers, retro sofa blocks, e.t.c. How bout' that? Otherwise your work is just impressive
Ooo! I agree and spoke about this a few pages back.
After seeing what Megistus had done with one of the wools (at least I assume it was wool) making a rather nice traditional red carpet design, I realised it was possible to have some distinctive pattern on some of the wool or wool carpets and yet still keep it functional for construction purposes.
So long as the pattern isn't a really bold 60's style floral bouquet I think it might be possible to have a little more variety for carpets and interior walls that still looks acceptable as airship canvas, etc. How does that sound? It will take time, because obviously everyone is waiting up on the 1.8 stuff and I have my own little areas of interest too and very little time, but at least you know the direction I intend going in with some things. Also, like I've already started doing with the stained clay, using ctm on certain wool blocks I can add different designs top, bottom and sides where appropriate making them much more versatile.
Speaking only for myself, but I'm sure it applies to many others artists around here, re-colors of things usually happen because time is limited and making individual wool color patterns adds a whole lot of extra work and/or as many people who like variety there will be an equal number of users who will like sets of the same recolored block for building purposes. Vanilla Minecraft keeps things simple that way too, as do many other popular packs. For me it definitely was due to lack of time and partly keeping airship construction in mind back when wool first appeared.
Go check it out in the newly edited OP. You rail fans might like the new rail tracks and the like.
Lots of new pics in the Fan Gallery. Don't forget to post some pics of your own builds and I might be able to use them in the Gallery too.
Righto...back to work. I just realized I forgot to stick some new mutton in there, so I'll have to have a session updating items next...and of course the rest of the 1.8 textures.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. I'm off to build some extra things on our RL rabbit house!
ps. let me know of course if something has gone wrong with the Curse/Forge download. I easily forget all the things I'm supposed to do over there when editing my page and uploading stuff!
@Megistus: I wished I'd looked through your mod pack properly before uploading...I could have used those gold and diamond tool re-colors. Gah! I'll use them in the next update until I think of something else.
edit:
Also I'm going to have to do some shameless inspirational copying of some of those girder block arrangements you've done. You've managed to combine parts of my iron block and the lead parts of my stained glass in wonderfully useful ways.
With my nose down in the sand, gravel and dirt for so long I haven't had a chance to really mess with the remaining unrefined hastily made blue red and yellow stained glass and to make them more useful, so those will probably be next on the list.
Gim, I had a thought for the prismarine blocks. If you go into one of the new ocean temples you'll see that there are some blocks surrounding the gold core in the center of the building, I would recommend using your broken circuits block idea on the blocks surrounding the core. I would make all the other blocks look like decorative patinaed copper. That would give us a new type of decoration for building that we don't already have for mass building, stay true to the original coloring of the blocks, and make logical sense if you find a submerged temple in the wild.

Hi ! Nice texturepack! only a few comments though, The fire looks... Horrid.
And could you make a few of the item textures smaller? They look HUGE on inventory.

By all means my friend Though, while I did retexture the Gold tools, I did leave alone the diamond animated tools. The pics I put up of the tools are those from tinkers construct.
As per the wool ... I am certain you are aware, but, in case you are not. All I did was retexture the carpet block, leaving the wool blocks untouched. I was not sure how I personally felt about retexturing the wool blocks, especially if wanted to use them for some other mechanical situation. Ah well.

Yeah! That core was the thing that set me thinking of more random control panels and the like.
Still undecided about the other blocks though. I'm obviously hankering after more structural girder blocks, but I might be able to get those out of the uglier stained glass I've still to bring up to scratch. I still see the temple as a dormant submarine, but I just need to spend some time down in the ocean with it in case I'm missing something that breaks the illusion of it being an undersea craft.
I'm just not sure how many more metal panels I can get in this resource pack before everyone gets sick of seeing yet more rivets! I suppose if I am going to try and introduce a little more decoration on the wool carpets squares and blocks, then more metal panels won't go amiss, but then I'm thinking what chaos I will cause for those who have faithfully used the riveted wool blocks on massive constructions. I still remember switching one of the riveted wool panels for something else and it causing a storm for those who use them for airships and the like.
Hi ! Nice texturepack! only a few comments though, The fire looks... Horrid.
And could you make a few of the item textures smaller? They look HUGE on inventory.
Hi. Glad you think the pack looks nice. Sorry you don't like the fire though...I rather like it for this theme. If I had more time I'd have a tinker and try and improve on absolutely everything, but there are too many other things that require more urgent attention. All a question of priorities really.
A lot of the items are in transition from 32x to 64x textures, so that might account for some scale issues. Also I'm not happy with a lot of the item textures myself, I agree. 32x and lower is not very forgiving when you try to make a texture clearly look like an object. 64x gives a lot more room for maneuver.
As it is though, any item textures that are already at 64x won't be changed again anytime soon as there are so many other demands on my time...sorry. If any of the items you find to be huge are old 32x textures then they will be changed as and when I find the time to do them. So the problem may well be solved in due course. However, I have to say I'm not too bothered by item scale in general, if I was, then glass vials would be about the size of a single pixel against a sword, etc. I see items more as icons rather than as hand held items, so I want them to be easily seen when they're down there on the gui.
I do know what you mean though and given time I'll try and keep some sort of scale in mind. Hows that?
By all means my friend Though, while I did retexture the Gold tools, I did leave alone the diamond animated tools. The pics I put up of the tools are those from tinkers construct.

Oh dear! My wall of text replies meant I was busy typing when you post came through.
Thanks, mate. After making a new texture I'm not very quick to exploit it's recoloring value really...I'm always chasing around trying to plug the next leak in the old ship! I think I'll use the iron tools as the basis for gold and diamond initially and then complicate the diamond ones up a bit later...or perhaps not in the case of diamond!
I'm glad someone else understands the problem I have in trying to decide what to do about these riveted wool blocks. Given how time presses around here I'll tackle the carpet blocks first and see what that suggests. There's always the option of having add-on packs, but that then beggars the question, have I got time to waste on something like that with so much else to be done. Add-on packs are all very well and good, but now Mojang need to make it possible for us to have unlimited textures in a single resource pack and an in game editor that allows us to switch between different textures for a block on the fly! That's not too much to ask is it?
Incidentally I think I've edited the OP into such a state as I don't need to to keep re-writing chunks of it every time I need to update, which means that I can update more frequently without the fear of 'OP grind' in the back of my head. Also thanks to Imgur and Youtube for helping me make things a little more efficient.
Dear gods, above and below, the AdFly site is being slow... it is going to take four hours to download... assuming it stays connected... it took six tries to get even this far....

Heh - you still have the link to 16 on that page, not the new one. (The link says 17, the download says 16.)
Either way - I am getting the exact same problem there, so the difficulty isn't AdFly, it's Curse. Curse is just being really slow - and it may have something to do with Minecraft having a new update as well.... 1.8.3... just my bad timing. (I decided to while away the download time by mining... and discovered the update... which is also taking a long time....)
*EDIT* So the thing to do is go away, and come back later.
Ooo! Please do. It will be nice to fill out the gallery with a greater selection of more recent material. I might be a bit picky though.
