Sounds like the shader's issue then. I know it's still pretty early in development and I was getting a few water transparency issues, but largely only at night when the water was dark.
How do the rules go with this: I'd like to stick to your TP6_4v7 pack while adding new mobs/items/terrain stuff whenever Notch adds them to vanilla Minecraft. Obviously this is fine for personal use but what are the rules in regard to sharing this on the forum? Obviously, I'd give you full credit and detail any changes I made so people know what I have and haven't made. My sole purpose for doing this is to make the people who want to continue using the nice, clean style happy. If this isn't okay, can I just send you twenty bucks to convince you to branch this new pack off and update both concurrently? I'd gladly pay you for that work. If I sound desparate, it's because I am. Your texture pack is literally the only one I think is any good. :]

First, I'm flattered you like my work so much.
I'm planning on updating both a detailed pack and a simple one. For now, the simple tiles are still present in the terrain.png and anyone can modify them to their own liking. I just ask that no one redistribute their modifications. I may use these tiles in my own games eventually and I'm not sure if I want them public domain or Creative Commons licensed for others to manipulate and redistribute.
I would appreciate it if any tinkering you did on my work was for private use alone. I've put hundreds of hours into the art and don't want to further fragment whatever user base I've developed. It's only fair.
(Using Frenden's 7.12 via MCPatcher w/ Frenden's Companion Shader)
The shader I was using previously didn't have the "wave" water effect and (subsequently?) the water was not made transparent.
Am I the only one that thinks that looks absolutely.....................AW.........................ESOME?!
Side note - shaders work for the most part (some odd outlines around my torches and the black 'selection box' waves around) but I black screen after a minute with MC taking up a good chunk of RAM. Thought my computer would be powerful enough, but alas...or there's an error in my installing ways.

I don't mean to discredit the hard work the other modders have put into their texture packs, but to be honest, most of them are being done without a strong vision behind them.
Your pack really is the best I've found that visually captures the fun of Minecraft without sacrificing or completely distracting you from the game's sometimes eery, dangerous atmosphere. It's a shame Notch didn't bring you on as the game's lead artist.
Anyway, I'll keep any modifications of your pack to myself but I'm certainly happy to know that you'll be doing two versions now. I know how much work you have put into it and I have no interest in screwing you over. I'll send another donation your way.
And one quick question before I go back to True Blood and waiting for Portal 2 to unlock: why not do this detailed pack at 32x? Do you prefer the detailed look at 16x?

I've given my friend the word that I'd be his presence on the MC forums to handle info on his shader as he's a pretty busy dude.

I think my pack is going up on it too - then I'll be able to fork the pack and make different versions.
(Glad to hear you will be using Github for Frenden's too!)
Cheers!
Cheers, Zero!

It looks like Frenden is already looking to be able to officially fork his packs for different groups of players.
Then I take back my offer of $20. :wink.gif:
(sorry, I missed him saying that!)
