Hey so I can't seem to find this information in the stickies, or in the OP: how do I get minecraft to recognize the new water and lava textures?
Right now all I'm doing is selecting the zip from the in-game texturepack interface, so I haven't taken any additional steps at all.
You need to use Xau's HD Texture fix, which is stickied at the top of the texture packs forum. :smile.gif:
Awesome, thanks so much. So, according to some people in that thread, it looks like I should wait for it to update to fully support 1.4 to avoid lag?
I haven't tried it myself, so I couldn't tell you. I've been holding off on the update just for smoothness's sake. I don't think it could hurt to try it*. If it crashes or lags you can just click "Options" on the launcher and click "Force update!" to revert back to a vanilla, unpatched install.
*I don't think the saved worlds would be affected in any way, but it would certainly prudent to back them up before doing anything. If you're not sure where to find them, you can click Mods and Texture Packs on the title screen and click "Open texture packs folder." The saves folder is one directory up from that.

Do not troll, flame, or spam in simple texture pack threads. If you don't like them, don't post. You will be warned otherwise.

You wouldn't need the Xau's HD fix, as this is only 16x, the native resolution. You'd simply need to drag and drop the texture pack into the minecraft.jar and let it merge. That way you'll import the water and lava aswell.
On a side note - really made this account just to give a big old thank you to Frenden. I've always loved this texture pack - it was the first pack I installed and I still like it.
Still having plans for the 32x one? :smile.gif:
Wild corgi is cute, hah! I'll be opting for a grey scheme for my version.
I've been super busy with work, but I also started an indie project of my own. Finally teaching myself 3D. Starting out with a simple low poly character.

Awesome! You should check out the low poly thread on the Polycount forum. Lots of inspiration to be found there, as well as many good examples of mesh flow and efficient poly usage: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41232
I'm curious to see how this character turns out. :biggrin.gif:
I used to hang around (solely as a lurker) on Polycount during the Quake 2-ish (maybe 3, can't remember) era. I love the stuff those guys make. Huge inspiration. That thread is nuts!
Burnt, I encourage you to change the textures up even further and am fine with their repurposing so long as I am credited properly. Thanks!
Trying to decide on the best way to differentiate tamed from untamed. The options I currently have on the table are: Collar, goggles, bandana, facial expression, or coloration.
Here are my wolf textures, if anyone wants them. I may still go back and tweak them. Maybe make the froth on angry dogs have a blue or yellow tone. If so, I'll post the new ones. Enjoy.

I would do bandana or coloration they are easier to notice, maybe goggles(just my opinion)
Hey, everybody! Thanks so much for the support and continued input. I'm beyond flattered, for seriousness.
I've got everything done but the wolf. I have had zero luck getting one in single player. I joined the Special Attack server today and Hit Girl was nice enough to give me a wolf, but I was accosted by a series of skeletons and died shortly thereafter, apparently consigning my wolfy companion to an early grave too.
I'm going to try and get another one tonight. If I can, update tomorrow. Wee!

Curse PremiumI LOVE this screenshot. Makes me want to build better looking stuff. You should post more. :smile.gif:

Packs of wild corgis roam the lands of Minecraftia.

Ortho sketch.
Starting to model.
Getting more advanced with the arm.
My eureka moment where it turns out I actually understand some of what I'm doing (the arm again).
ooooo, I always wanted to learn 3D. **** seems so complicated. Are you using Blender?
So fun! Eventually, in Unity 3D, the character's going to have a XIII toon-outline effect with painterly textures. Like so:

It's been working fine since the dog/cookie update. The dookie update.

This is my favorite pack and has been the only one i've used since alpha :smile.gif:
This is my experiment with the bandana:

hey, you posted this on reddit, didn't you? REDDIT BUDDIES
but seriously, it'd be great if you offered the corgis with various different options ala the painterly pack. that would be super neat.
