Here's a quick proof of concept edit I did for my cobblestone preference:

I'll probably later expand it so it looks more to Frenden's style and so stairs don't look weird,etc but it seems to have worked. I like the style of cobblestone to be more like stacked stones so it has a more medieval castle look to it. Or well that's what I was going for. Feel free to comment criticize it.

You won't get a black screen from a texture pack. Delete your bin folder in AppData/Roaming/.minecraft and load up minecraft to reinstall a fresh version.

okay, I'm freakin lost, I've unhidden my folders and found my appdata but ther doesnt seem to be a roaming folder. I'm on xp, anyone care to help? I'm in love with this game and I NEED MY FIX!!! BAH
Ok I made a better version of the edit cobblestone so it's more into the style.

I think I got the edit cobblestone to complement frendens other textures well. Maybe some tweaking is needed, like it may need to be a little lighter, but it seems fine right now: Here's the terrain. (Edited: minor change)
Also people were talking about a creeper that had the more original face so I made a fun little edit.
Changed the mouth, no more tongue, and left the teeth but they are a little darker. Link here.
I was looking through old pieces of mine. I came across this werewolf self portrait. It sorta makes me want to do a retro '50s horror pack. That's my passion. But is there any public interest? I'd hate to do it if no one would use it.
I LOVE the 50's era, all the clothing styles and THE MUSIC OMG
but one thing tho, is the entire pack going to be horror based? Because if it is I probably won't use it, but if it is 50's based with you know cheezy 50's horror costumes on the mobs or something I would totally use it all the time.
I am just not a big fan of things like blood covered chests and other things that bring down the happy vibe of minecraft.
Also another quick question
is V5 the final version of your texture pack?

besides minecraft would be no fun if I couldn't eat pork once in a while.

It would probably be '50s with some definite horror overtones, yes.
V5 is a stable, polished release. I will be updating as new textures are added to the game, but I'm pretty happy with the pack overall.
Hey Frenden, any news on the customizer you were talking about a couple weeks back? Would love to see some alternative graphics (even though it's great as it is). I might be able to help on the customizer code.

I haven't raised enough money to pay for one and my friend that volunteered ended up bowing out. So, unfortunately, it's not in the works. I'd love to offer alternate textures though. I have quite a few stored up waiting for the capability.

I think if I remember correctly that you have a PHP web host? If so, whats the PHP version, and GD version? Also, can you give me a quick run down how you'd like the customizer to work (frontend wise), that'll be helpful. Or if you want me to duplicate the way Painterly does it, I can do that too.
i was bored of the texture pack i'd been using for a while and looking to go back to 16x16 skin. I had been hearing about this one on various other threads (though for some reason everyone calls it fredens and not freNdens so i had a hard time finding it!) and decided to give it a go, i am so glad i did. i really love it! I think i will use it forever! i did change 2 or 3 of the blocks but it all looks SO amazing! especially with AO (now known as betterlight)
i also use a block painting mod, its been great for painting the light wood, now i can have dark wood and light wood in my world, happy fun times!!!!!!!!
